few tips for people trying to install motorbike alarms,if you have cheap alarm then cut down all wires if they represent any colors.then make tiny junction box just by alarm unit, run all wires as black, make some color sleeves and note on paper where they need to be connected, later remove sleeves and install alarm somewhere away from easy access( not under the seat).connect wires to immobilizer if exists( US bikes get one),install some additional ignition off switch, install tracker too,
Good in theory but I don't recommend this (making the wires all one color) for DIY'ers that are purchasing cheap alarms off places like ebay, alibaba, and amazon. Only a professional thief is well versed in the wire color codes of all the alarms and bikes he/she runs into and having all same colored wires only slows down someone like that, it doesn't stop them. What that kind of wiring does do is create hell for whoever has to diagnose a problem with the cheap alarm unit.
Great info I wonder if my 06 zx14's wiring is similar? I had the spy 5000m installe on my bike once before then had to do a recalled frame swap and the dealership did not reconnect it because it was aftermarket. Now I'm tring to figure out if I can wire it up myself or pay somebody to hook it up for me AGAIN.
Thank you sir for giving the world your time to put this video up. I appreciate your time and service for this device install. Out of all the video's that I did look at, your video helped me out the most. I have a zx636 and I recently installed my device by myself only because I watched your video. Thanks again. God bless
Yeah it does look simple now that Im actually looking at my bikes wiring and ur telling me what's what with the wiring. Especially since I discarded my instruction Manual after the first install .Thanks again! Be safe on them 2's !
Thank you for posting this video. I know it was a long time ago, but this helped me understand the purpose of these wires and what to look for. My alarm is an Easyguard, but still the same.
ping and gray wires are used to prevent bike engine start with key, when spy is armed. You need to cut ground wire from key lock (it's always black or white) and connect pink and gray to the ends. When armed it disconnects ground and you can not start.
jeromeski100 I feel you bruh at least you're in that small percentage of bikes that got recovered & it's able to be rebuilt. Usually your pride & joy is not recovered & if it is its a total loss. I'm glad this video was able to help you. Alarms are a must have in my opinion, so what it adds a pound or so. At least it deters potential thieves away from my ride. Also so that people can see how easy it is to do. I'm glad I could help. I more alarm 1 less stolen bike. Hail to the 2005 zx10r "Widow Maker"
Have you had any problems with the Spy draining your battery? I hooked it up on my old SV650 and really liked it but had problems getting the remote start working and had major battery drain issues.
i heard that some alarm systems can shut off the bike while riding if the kill switch on the remote is hit is true with this system.i know it starts remotely and shuts off after 10min if you dont hit the kill switch on the remote but will it stay started if manually started with the key and will it stay started if you accidentally hit the remote kill switch.reason im even thinking about using remote start is because i have an older bike that uses carbs so it needs to warm up a bit before taking off and i dont want to leave the keys in the ignition while its warming up
hi was wondering does the hi jack feature (obvious while remote separate from key) will it work without the remote start blue wire connected . I also have a bike with a immobilizer. sorry I only scanned thru the responses.
Not sure about the black & white wire especially if u have 1 wire that are those same 2 colors. But the pink & white wire u don't need. My harness actually came from the factory with those 2 wires cut inside the connector
ik you said you found the info researchin but i have looked up everything i could think of and cant figure out how to get the remote start, set up, i got a 2013 zx6r, im pretty its the same ecu as yours, so ik the blue wire goes to the R/Y, but as far as the pink and grey i cant figure that out.
Pink & Grey Wires: I will describe these two wires together as they are linked. These wires are part of the Ignition Kill circuit. The instructions say to CUT the Black/White (B/W) wire from the ignition key switch and connect the Pink wire to the Ignition Switch SIDE of the cut, and connect the Grey wire to the other cut B/W end. Then the SPY5000 can kill the ignition.
Supa Dave Hey. By any chance can you tell me where the blue wire goes. I have a 07 R1. Everything works on the alarm except the remote start. It cranks but doesn't start.
Where did you get your spy 5000m from? I'm trying to get one for my 07 zx10r but can't find out if it's compatible. If you know a way please let me know.
Hi! Thank you for the video and all the comments they are very helpful. Having some issues installing the alarm as my bike doesn't have a ignition fuse. Do you know any way around this?
It's held up really good no draining issues. I haven't had my bike on a battery tender yet this whole season. I usually pull the fuse but didn't at all this season. Pulled him out last Friday. Hit the ignition vvvrrrmmm like money $$$$$$
My technician can't get the autostart to work without the key inserted first. He mentioned something about immobilizer present on 2015 Yamaha YZF 600 R6 is the main cause and asked me to look for bypass interface. Please help sir. I thank you in advance.
I like your video I have a 2005 Ninja ZX10R all black that just got stolen 5 months ago they had it for 2 months and the cops found it ! yes I had liability on it when I should have full coverage ! Now am rebuilding it and I'm almost done with it . Now I want to put a alarm on it abd I dont now how to hook it up tell I seen your video so thank you bro
I will warn everyone. It doesn't have it's own battery backup so it slowly drains your bike's battery if you keep it set for a long time. If you have it set and don't ride for a few days it will completely kill the battery. The proximity sensor works well but can kill the battery overnight. I put my R1 on a battery tender now to counter that issue.
Ryan Dalnogare nope Ryan I've had no problems. Although in the winter I do pull the fuse to the alarm brain to keep it from doing some unnecessary dreading of the battery
Christian Alvarez. That's the trouble i ran into when i got it. The instructions were useless. I'm glad that this vid was helpful to allot of people. As far as your horn goes, you could use the siren horn wires & tap into your horn. You probably use both the siren & your horn, if you run a ground & a positive from your siren wires to your horn. Hope this helps GL
@ t3ichou I've had no issues with my spy is been installed since feb. No battery issues, electrical issues nothing. Absolutely pleased with the total package
Hello, I love ur video!! I need help with the brown wire.... I have a 2015 zx10r the bike has on 3miles on it I don't really want to mess with Ignition wire... Is there other ways? What if I put a switch on the power cable? Like if I go riding I can just turn off the switch? Can you pls help me out:) thank you for this awesome video....
milkweed728 I've heard that too. I really can't speak on it because I haven't tried it. But I believe that if done right you won't have any problem. I'm not sure but if I remember what I read you can start your bike with the alarm on, & when u get ready to ride you 1st have to cancel the alarm to even turn the key in the ig to on just so the alarm won't sound. So again if wired right the turn off your ig is suppose to turn your alarm brain off. Hope this helps
Can't seem to be able to reply but I managed to fix it in the mean time. I just used a different fuse which would also cut the engine if it doesn't get any power.
GangstinaDR Good deal. Just make sure that it's a fuse that is off when the bike power is off. If not 2 things. 1. It can drain your battery 2. The alarm needs to read that your bike is off & able to arm
@Matt200 yes it will still work. Just the moron sensor it self. But u still will have 2 connect the brown wire to the ig so the brain will know when u put the key in you're ready 2 ride. That way the alarm won't go off on u while you're riding.
I wired a 2 way alarm on my 04 Kawasaki Z750, for the remote start I used a 0.25w 100 ohm resistor and 1N4001 diode to connect the alarm Brown wire to the gray wire which goes to the ECU. In the Kawasaki ignition switch there is a resistor inside to step down the voltage to 6v and the bike will not start if the ECU do not sense this, it's suppose to be an security feature to prevent theft by hot wiring.
No I haven't had any problems with my spy. In fact I've installed it on 3 bikes so far. A 99 Kawi zx 7, 01 Kawi zx 6, 03 gsxr 750. No problems so far. As for the remote start I have no interest in it so I can't really speak on it.
Well I would like to have the remote start working on my bike because my bike needs to "warm up" for at least 4 or 5 minutes before it will run optimally in cool weather. That's a cool feature when its early in the morning and my bike could be warming up while Im getting ready for work. I live in the deep SOUTH and we don't worry to much about vehicle theft in our own driveways here because everyone (black and white) knows that you will be SHOT DEAD ON SIGHT just for stepping on property that NOT YOURS! Its not a race thing. Its just a real fact! We value our privacy above all in my neck of the woods so this type of theft isn't much to worry about here. Also if I understand correctly. The "alarm/remote-start" system that I have will automatically shut-off the bike off after 10 minutes if the key isn't physically inserted normally.. Lets face it, most of these Chinese alarms systems wire-up exactly the same and are made by the same few Chinese manufacturers only having a million different brand names printed on them!
The best and easiest instructions Ever.. Thanks again
Best installation video on youtube. Thanks. I'm gonna try install it in my 2012 ZX6R.

@Loco4s if you're not using remote start u do not need the pink or freeway wire. Mine were cut off when I got my alarm

Great vid. I'm planning on putting one in my zx14. But held off once I read about the immobilizer. My questions got answered here thanks.
Hi G, what abolut the black and White wire
What's the pink wire and the grey wire go to ?
blue and brown wire, 07 zx10... do i need to hook up both
jeromeski100 I feel you bruh at least you're in that small percentage of bikes that got recovered & it's able to be rebuilt. Usually your pride & joy is not recovered & if it is its a total loss. Hey bro! What about the gray and pink cable ? Where are those tow cone extend to and how?
Conga, what about the gray wire? where do you attach it to?
Huge question if alarm is tripped and now won't get any power when turning key how to disarm or reset. No fuses blown
Soooo much thank you man! Really helpful. Now i can setup on zx10r 07 real simple
Where are you located ? If your in Detroit how much would you charge to do an alarm on my 2004 zx10r ?
hello, how did you turn of the 3 beeb warning when you turn of the bike?
Have you had any problems with the Spy draining your battery? I hooked it up on my old SV650 and really liked it but had problems getting the remote start working and had major battery drain issues.

Not sure about the black & white wire especially if u have 1 wire that are those same 2 colors. But the pink & white wire u don't need. My harness actually came from the factory with those 2 wires cut inside the connector
Need help on the remote start? how to jump the wire ?
Marcus it sounds to me like u were running a bigger fuse then what's suppose to be in there. Do u know what a fuses job is?
ik you said you found the info researchin but i have looked up everything i could think of and cant figure out how to get the remote start, set up, i got a 2013 zx6r, im pretty its the same ecu as yours, so ik the blue wire goes to the R/Y, but as far as the pink and grey i cant figure that out.
By any chance, do u know where the starter on a Honda CBR 650f?
What about the pink and Grey?
Hey. How to disable arming reminder? I did not find this information in the instructions.
Hey Alex I honestly can not remember I haven't used this alarm for a couple years. I took it off rebuilding this bike for drag. Sorry bro
I have the same alarm the blue lite stay on after I disarmed it s should go off right

Hey Supa Dave thanks for the video... are you willing to wire up the ignition kill wires? If you do so, can you upload a video of its function?
aruekca18det I would give it a shout but my pink & Grey wires were cut from the factory
Supa Dave
Hey. By any chance can you tell me where the blue wire goes. I have a 07 R1. Everything works on the alarm except the remote start. It cranks but doesn't start.
That's because their is some kind of replay between your ignition. You have to bypass it somehow that I'm not familiar with
Sir, I have a scooter. There are two wires from my ignition switch. A RED and BLACK wires. Which one should I cut to install the pink and grey wires?
What about the pink and gray wires
how does the alarm work so far. any issues?
this video was very helpful thanks for explaining where the wires go, I have the same unit but I don't know what the gray wire goes to
we're is the starter output
Where did you get your spy 5000m from? I'm trying to get one for my 07 zx10r but can't find out if it's compatible. If you know a way please let me know.
Hi!
Thank you for the video and all the comments they are very helpful.
Having some issues installing the alarm as my bike doesn't have a ignition fuse.

i have zx6r - thinking to put one of this
@ t3ichou I've had no issues with my spy is been installed since feb. No battery issues, electrical issues nothing. Absolutely pleased with the total package
I hooked up every wire but the blue. I tried multiple things and can not find the start wire on my bike. Not sure where to find it
What kinda bike do u have?
Supa Dave 04 yzf 600r
Let me try to find the wiring diagram & see if I can locate it
Supa Dave that would be awsome thank you
Try looking behind the starter switch & see what those wires are colored & find the same colors back at type bikes competes
@ Chenese I purchased it on eBay

Taurus ever one is looking how to install the jumper to make the remote start work properly
I just figure it out how to get the remote start to work on all zx10r its easy it took me a full day but i go it.
how do you hook the remote start up
Taurus can you post on these comments how you did it. It seems to be a popular question & I'll add it to this vid.
No it came like that. Factory that way.
I got it from eBay

What about the pink and gray wires?
