Great reaction and as I said in the chat, thanks for doing all three songs one after the other just as they should be experienced. Each song perfectly serves its purpose and makes us feel the emotions they are intended to evoke with Starlight being about the initial grief and loss, Shine being about coming to terms and acceptance and finally Arkadia with its uplifting message of hope and better things to come. All the lights in the audience during 'Shine' - everybody there was given a gauntlet with an LED light to wear and they would light up at appropriate spots in the show.

This is the emotional three. After so many times hearing this it still brings tears in my eyes. The most emotional part being in Shine, right after the guitar-solo, when Su starts to sing again with the double bassdrum putting extra power into it. It's like a powerburst of emotion.
Much like "Tales of the Destinies" and "The One" from their second album (which were originally supposed to be one song, by the way) this trilogy is a real gem! It's the crown jewel of their third album so to speak. And while "Starlight" is more emotional in general, I found myself crying when I've heard "Shine" the first time because of the sheer beauty of the song... And I absolutely share your feels regarding "Arkadia". It's immensely uplifting and it makes you feel like you could achieve anything!
Shine is probably my favourite song from the Metal Galaxy album. Su‘s voice sounds so beautiful, and it all fits together so perfectly. The lights in the audience always get to me, they always make it a special moment that binds everyone together. If you get the chance to watch „Tales of the Destinies“ and „The One“ from the Tokyo Dome show, please do. There are some even more powerful and epic moments in there that you should not miss.

I’m sure you’ve heard by now all the background stuff regarding these performances, but I really appreciated your thoughts and how you were immediately grabbed by the music. My personal favorite is Shine out of the three, because that performance art choreo involving the guitar just is so absolutely gorgeous. But I think by the end you got what it emotionally was about. Keeping your head up despite what’s going on or has happened and still looking forward to what’s next. Shine is my favorite among the three as well, and it's still growing on me the more I listen to it. The dance choreo is great, I agree (even if Moa isn't actually playing the guitar, but that doesn't matter), but what gets me every time is the bridge after the heavy breakdown: Su's voice, what she sings, how she sings it, and the melody, are all just phenomenal, and it makes me tear up without fail. That is one of the strongest parts, composition-wise, out of all of BM's songs.

I think Moa even went on tape somewhere that they were considering doing it live at the time, but she didn't trust her guitar skills enough. And if you played guitar yourself you would have noticed that she's just playing/miming one finger barre chords. If the guitar is in a so-called open tuning, you could produce full chords that way, but you would be restricted to either major or minor chords. Too bad the chord progression switches between both modes...
Props for doing all three songs live and especially back-to-back-to-back. You can really feel what the trilogy is about if you do it like that. Shine Legend M version for Moa's 20th birthday is my favorite BM performance by far. It just has that intimate feeling, as if you're intruding on two close friends. As much as I loved the three avengers and especially Momoko, who was the one that performed all the shows since the pandemic started, I wish they would mix their choreos up a little more sometimes so it's just Su and Moa on stage. Well, maybe now they stay with the lineup of just those two with Momoko, as the last of the three Avengers standing, is most probably out of the lineup, too. These three songs show what makes Su a great vocalist. She can convey the feelings of songs without the need for you to understand what she's singing. From the sad feeling of Starlight to the hopeful of Shine and the almost elated sounding Arkadia (for a lack of a better word). But these three songs together have, in my opinion, also the best lyrics of any BM song(s), too, so they're always worth checking out if you didn't really pay attention to them while listening, which I, personally, never do when I listen to something for the first time.
Arkadia among other BABYMETAL songs make me think twice before I'll go to a BABYMETAL concert, because I'm not entirelly sure my heart can handle so much excitement and emotions, I think there is a chance that I'll die at the middle of the show xD. Great reaction. Unofficially, the Trilogy is supposed to tell of the different stages of loss.... When I first heard Starlight and watched the mv, I totally felt it... the music was chaotic, a mix of growls, choir backgrounds, like when you lose someone, it's a mix of anger, pain, sorrow. Shine is an epic performance dance piece.... and so fitting it's only Su and Moa... after all they've been through together, the loss of Yui and Mikio, the struggles and triumphs, definitely a shining road they're embarked on... and ad for Akadia, the sense of triumph, joy, victory... as another Reactor describes it, it's like Road of Resistance 2.0 🤘🦊🤘
They way you described Starlight makes me think it evoked the feelings it's supposed to. The song is about grief which is why it sounds like an emotional roller coaster, from sadness to anger, from soft instrumentals to violent guitar riffs and after it's all over you feel cleansed. --- For Shine you yet again described it well, it felt like a bridge. The song is about the next stage, acceptance after loss which is that brief moment that bridges the initial grief to the moment you move on. --- For Arkadia it seems like you picked up the message correctly again! You now feel good and hopeful, ready to tackle the future and move on. Just what the song is about. When I first heard these songs I started thinking about the relatives I've lost and it brought both feelings and memories back.

Nice reaction. The legend M performance of Shine is a must watch for any Babymetal fan. Moa's performance during that song is so mature and done with such intensity. When Su steps on to the stage the chemistry between them is amazing. Moa said it felt like they were holding hands. Only band mates who have been together for years could pull that off. Arkadia does feel like it should have been played for the Olympics. Which is cool. Starlight is another Su spotlight song her ability to make you feel the emotion of the song is amazing.

There is absolutely no official or unofficial statement from Babymetal, anyone remotely related or close to related to Babymetal that Starlight is a tribute to anyone. Making things up doesn't make things official or a tribute.
About the Trilogy of Lights Lately i've been wondering the true meaning of this songs. You know, some people say that song or the other one is for Mikio, for Yui...after hearing at them for some time I don't think it works like this. The only thing seems for sure it is a trilogy of three songs that go together, about losing something or someone dear and fight through it to become stronger. It is also pretty clear they did it because of Mikio's passing away, but it is abstract enough so it can work with Yui situation or with any other person that's hearing the song and has to go ahead after painful loss. In the first song, Starlight, we see the pain. The pain to know you have lost someone dear. The band wish for Mikio's soul to reach the sky and become starlight like those stars he loved to watch. The second song is sadness, Shine. "We are thankful for having met you, your light will shine forever in our hearts". Arkadia, the third song, is a metal hymn, about going ahead. The girls here are telling him they are gonna continue that path all them dreamt to walk, stronger than ever, fastest than ever.

Just found you on my recommends. You look so awesome and I love your emotion when you react to my favorite japanese band. I'm a religious person and that song STARLIGHT ....I had a moment with God y'all. I really did. And when you said that it " ripped out the negative" I really don't doubt you. "Shine" as well, reminded me of my grandma who passed from cancer about 7 years ago. The deep meaning, the emotion and power of the instruments make me feel like God is close, that I am not alone and that transcends all language barriers. Wow, this was actually the first time I cried when listening to Starlight... With this reaction video, I paid attention to the lyrics, and it just made me so emotional. Especially when you know it's for their dead guitarrist, who died when star gazing... This trilogy is just so beautiful. I always forget how powerful Arcadia is. xD

Arkadia is a song I like to listen to on repeat, when I have some down moments in life and during the first listen I always tear up and it almost feels like the bad feelings get just flushed out. With every repeat I feel even better and more hopeful. It is hard to describe what's going on in me at these times and this is a VERY simplified version of it!
A few fun facts: - Starlight is the first song where they used a 9 string guitar - Shine is the only song where they used an acoustic guitar - Starlight also has a Music Video, and it's 1 of the only 2 videos without the girls performing in it (the other one is Distortion) because Yui was in hiatus due to health reasons, and they didn't want to shoot a MV without her. When she officially left the band, they went back on making MV with the girls. - The Legend M performance of Shine, is the only time they performed intentionally as a DUO

When the lyric “Stargazer” hits, I just instantly burst into tears. Mikio and Yui were both amateur astronomers. Was a very emotional and turbulent time, for Babymetal. Was awesome to see Moa, playing Mikio’s guitar (Yes she played it! Has been learning guitar). Then it it hits you, this is a Mikio tribute, about loss. 😭😭😭 #notacult😉
My second time watching this one. I guess I didn't comment the first time. This was so good. One of my very favorite reactions. I got the chills so much that I had to put on a jacket. Loved it.
One thing (of many) that impresses me is how much their English has progressed over the years as I've listened to them at live shows and interviews. That version of "Shine" is my favorite with the guitar and the lights and how Su and Moa interact throughout the song. On the studio version, I find it difficult to segue from Shine to Arkadia because Shine mellows me out so much and sometimes I just don't wanna disrupt my zen thing just yet.
I think it is amazing how much emotion Su can covey with her voice... even though I can't understand most of it. The feels are just amazing. Thanks for putting this together, we'll done! Great reaction!
Time to get back to some original BabyMetal. Ijime, Dame, Zettai or IDZ live at Sonisphere festival in England 2014. Their first major appearance outside Asia in front of 50-60,000 metal festival goers where virtually nobody had heard of them. This is the last song of a 30 minute set and you can hear how the crowd reacts to them. BTW, IDZ is an anti-bullying song.
This version of Shine is the most powerful one. The opening sequence with just Moa dancing shows how much she has matured and her wonderful display of emotion. Su's entrance and their interaction shows the strong bond between Su and Moa (SuMoa). The ending sequence reinforces the love for one another. The two have been together for so long (half of their lives) and have endure so much it is reflected in this performance. Su is the voice of Babymetal, but Moa is its heart; without Moa, there is no Babymetal. Su has stated multiple time that together they are able to accomplish anything. Su has no desire to go solo, she needs Moa to keep her grounded and for emotional support. When Su publicly mentioned this in a Japanese interview, Moa was shocked. Moa did not actual play the guitar on-stage, but did play the backing track; she puts a lot of emotion into it. Allegedly, the guitar was Mikio's on loan for this performance and Moa used it to lay down the backing track.
"Feel like it ripped out the negative"....... I may have never heard their effect stated better. Well done. I get it man. And as he's emotionally affected by Starlight I'm like, give it a minute, the next song is going to get you. Yeah. I get that too. But with true Babymetal mojo, as the trilogy continues, they cannot leave you with those emotions, they close it by turning up the hope and inspiration to 11. No more tears, no more pain, no more cry........ What we have here is mature, serious Babymetal. A sample of what the future holds for them. I think it's brilliant. The belief among some of the fanbase is that these three songs are a result of the death of their guitarist, Mikio. Starlight is dealing with the pain of death. Shine is about accepting it. Arkadia is about moving on, learning life continues and you will be fine.

The stars... The eclipse... The galaxy.. The guitar.. Mikio Fujioka, the guitarist of Babymetal, dies in 2019 after falling from an astronomical observation platform .. That is the reason of SHINE's images and guitar. That is why Moa caresses the guitar at start and why she is so serious..

Enjoyed this reaction immensely. Starlight is not my favorite of the three, but when the chant starts in towards the end, it always gets me emotional. RIP Mikio. The performance of Shine is the definitive version of that song. The duet is beautiful and absolutely perfect, and when they walk away from the guitar at the end, I get emotional again. 😆 Arkadia is my favorite song on the album because of the message of strength and resolve moving into the future. Given the context around Babymetal of when the song came out, it just fills me with joy and hope. What's more interesting is for some people (japanese mostly) each songs are dedicated to specific member, _Shine_ is like Moa's dance and song dedicated to Mikio-sama, and Arkadia is the song dedicated to YuiMetal. For me this song fits perfectly dedicated to Mikio-sama and YuiMetal, both. Just like SuMetal said when singing this song reminds her to YuiMetal. And because Mikio-sama used to love to observes stars, he actually fell off from a stargaze before he past away, also YuiMetal loves to watch the stars. The song was released day after Yui left official announced (around the end 2018) Legend Metal Galaxy Day 2 was the "dark" side while Day 1 was the "light" side, and you will hear this is even more heavy with the setlist and the West Kami Band playing behind, and in case you didn't notice the intro is narrated by SuMetal in her very polished english (some might say "sunglish"?), don't forget is so hard for japanese people to learn proper english, our queen manage to improve a lot. *SHINE* Our princess of Nagoya MoaMetal can play the guitar for sure, but in this occasion might be for aesthetic reason, just like our queen SuMetal playing the piano recently at 10 Budokan concerts, still beautiful and with that solo dance she can take your breath away.

As far as this is concerned: "The avenger, or backup dancer during full set of trilogy of light at LMG Day 2 was Riho Sayashi, if i'm not mistaken that was her last concert with them." That wasn't actually Riho's last performance with BABYMETAL. After 'LEGEND - METAL GALAXY' Day 2 on January 26th, 2020, she went on to perform at seven of the shows on the early 2020 World Tour. Her last show with BABYMETAL was February 13th, 2020 in Cologne, Germany.

As much as I loved the three avengers and especially Momoko, who was the one that performed all the shows since the pandemic started, I wish they would mix their choreos up a little more sometimes so it's just Su and Moa on stage. Well, maybe now they stay with the lineup of just those two with Momoko, as the last of the three Avengers standing, is most probably out of the lineup, too.
These three songs show what makes Su a great vocalist. She can convey the feelings of songs without the need for you to understand what she's singing. From the sad feeling of Starlight to the hopeful of Shine and the almost elated sounding Arkadia (for a lack of a better word). But these three songs together have, in my opinion, also the best lyrics of any BM song(s), too, so they're always worth checking out if you didn't really pay attention to them while listening, which I, personally, never do when I listen to something for the first time.

Arkadia among other BABYMETAL songs make me think twice before I'll go to a BABYMETAL concert, because I'm not entirelly sure my heart can handle so much excitement and emotions, I think there is a chance that I'll die at the middle of the show xD. Great reaction. Unofficially, the Trilogy is supposed to tell of the different stages of loss.... When I first heard Starlight and watched the mv, I totally felt it... the music was chaotic, a mix of growls, choir backgrounds, like when you lose someone, it's a mix of anger, pain, sorrow. Shine is an epic performance dance piece.... and so fitting it's only Su and Moa... after all they've been through together, the loss of Yui and Mikio, the struggles and triumphs, definitely a shining road they're embarked on... and ad for Akadia, the sense of triumph, joy, victory... as another Reactor describes it, it's like Road of Resistance 2.0 🤘🦊🤘
They way you described Starlight makes me think it evoked the feelings it's supposed to. The song is about grief which is why it sounds like an emotional roller coaster, from sadness to anger, from soft instrumentals to violent guitar riffs and after it's all over you feel cleansed. --- For Shine you yet again described it well, it felt like a bridge. The song is about the next stage, acceptance after loss which is that brief moment that bridges the initial grief to the moment you move on. --- For Arkadia it seems like you picked up the message correctly again! You now feel good and hopeful, ready to tackle the future and move on. Just what the song is about.
When I first heard these songs I started thinking about the relatives I've lost and it brought both feelings and memories back.

Nice reaction. The legend M performance of Shine is a must watch for any Babymetal fan. Moa's performance during that song is so mature and done with such intensity. When Su steps on to the stage the chemistry between them is amazing. Moa said it felt like they were holding hands. Only band mates who have been together for years could pull that off. Arkadia does feel like it should have been played for the Olympics. Which is cool. Starlight is another Su spotlight song her ability to make you feel the emotion of the song is amazing.

There is absolutely no official or unofficial statement from Babymetal, anyone remotely related or close to related to Babymetal that Starlight is a tribute to anyone. Making things up doesn't make things official or a tribute.
About the Trilogy of Lights
Lately i've been wondering the true meaning of this songs. You know, some people say that song or the other one is for Mikio, for Yui...after hearing at them for some time I don't think it works like this.
The only thing seems for sure it is a trilogy of three songs that go together, about losing something or someone dear and fight through it to become stronger. It is also pretty clear they did it because of Mikio's passing away, but it is abstract enough so it can work with Yui situation or with any other person that's hearing the song and has to go ahead after painful loss.
In the first song, Starlight, we see the pain. The pain to know you have lost someone dear. The band wish for Mikio's soul to reach the sky and become starlight like those stars he loved to watch.
The second song is sadness, Shine. "We are thankful for having met you, your light will shine forever in our hearts".
Arkadia, the third song, is a metal hymn, about going ahead. The girls here are telling him they are gonna continue that path all them dreamt to walk, stronger than ever, fastest than ever.

Just found you on my recommends. You look so awesome and I love your emotion when you react to my favorite japanese band. I'm a religious person and that song STARLIGHT ....I had a moment with God y'all. I really did. And when you said that it " ripped out the negative" I really don't doubt you. "Shine" as well, reminded me of my grandma who passed from cancer about 7 years ago. The deep meaning, the emotion and power of the instruments make me feel like God is close, that I am not alone and that transcends all language barriers. Wow, this was actually the first time I cried when listening to Starlight... With this reaction video, I paid attention to the lyrics, and it just made me so emotional. Especially when you know it's for their dead guitarrist, who died when star gazing... This trilogy is just so beautiful. I always forget how powerful Arcadia is. xD

That is one of the best songs on Metal Galaxy
Arkadia is a song I like to listen to on repeat, when I have some down moments in life and during the first listen I always tear up and it almost feels like the bad feelings get just flushed out. With every repeat I feel even better and more hopeful. It is hard to describe what's going on in me at these times and this is a VERY simplified version of it!
A few fun facts:
- Starlight is the first song where they used a 9 string guitar
- Shine is the only song where they used an acoustic guitar
- Starlight also has a Music Video, and it's 1 of the only 2 videos without the girls performing in it (the other one is Distortion) because Yui was in hiatus due to health reasons, and they didn't want to shoot a MV without her. When she officially left the band, they went back on making MV with the girls.
- The Legend M performance of Shine, is the only time they performed intentionally as a DUO

One thing (of many) that impresses me is how much their English has progressed over the years as I've listened to them at live shows and interviews. That version of "Shine" is my favorite with the guitar and the lights and how Su and Moa interact throughout the song. On the studio version, I find it difficult to segue from Shine to Arkadia because Shine mellows me out so much and sometimes I just don't wanna disrupt my zen thing just yet.
I think it is amazing how much emotion Su can covey with her voice... even though I can't understand most of it. The feels are just amazing. Thanks for putting this together, we'll done! Great reaction!

This is the last song of a 30 minute set and you can hear how the crowd reacts to them. BTW, IDZ is an anti-bullying song.

This version of Shine is the most powerful one. The opening sequence with just Moa dancing shows how much she has matured and her wonderful display of emotion. Su's entrance and their interaction shows the strong bond between Su and Moa (SuMoa). The ending sequence reinforces the love for one another. The two have been together for so long (half of their lives) and have endure so much it is reflected in this performance.
Su is the voice of Babymetal, but Moa is its heart; without Moa, there is no Babymetal. Su has stated multiple time that together they are able to accomplish anything. Su has no desire to go solo, she needs Moa to keep her grounded and for emotional support. When Su publicly mentioned this in a Japanese interview, Moa was shocked.
Moa did not actual play the guitar on-stage, but did play the backing track; she puts a lot of emotion into it. Allegedly, the guitar was Mikio's on loan for this performance and Moa used it to lay down the backing track.
"Feel like it ripped out the negative"....... I may have never heard their effect stated better. Well done. I get it man. And as he's emotionally affected by Starlight I'm like, give it a minute, the next song is going to get you. Yeah. I get that too. But with true Babymetal mojo, as the trilogy continues, they cannot leave you with those emotions, they close it by turning up the hope and inspiration to 11. No more tears, no more pain, no more cry........ What we have here is mature, serious Babymetal. A sample of what the future holds for them. I think it's brilliant.
The belief among some of the fanbase is that these three songs are a result of the death of their guitarist, Mikio. Starlight is dealing with the pain of death. Shine is about accepting it. Arkadia is about moving on, learning life continues and you will be fine.

The performance of Shine is the definitive version of that song. The duet is beautiful and absolutely perfect, and when they walk away from the guitar at the end, I get emotional again. 😆
Arkadia is my favorite song on the album because of the message of strength and resolve moving into the future. Given the context around Babymetal of when the song came out, it just fills me with joy and hope. If these young women can deal with tragedy and uncertainty and come out strong in the end, then maybe I can too. 🤘🦊🦊🦊🤘

Thanks for keep coming back with more BM songs, and now with another unofficial trilogy fans dedicated and tributed to Mikio-sama and YuiMetal withdrawal, actually fans think this is a song dedicated to them judging by the lyrics context but like i said none of this was official.
What's more interesting is for some people (japanese mostly) each songs are dedicated to specific member, _Shine_ is like Moa's dance and song dedicated to Mikio-sama, and Arkadia is the song dedicated to YuiMetal.
For me this song fits perfectly dedicated to Mikio-sama and YuiMetal, both. Just like SuMetal said when singing this song reminds her to YuiMetal. And because Mikio-sama used to love to observes stars, he actually fell off from a stargaze before he past away, also YuiMetal loves to watch the stars.
The song was released day after Yui left official announced (around the end 2018)
Legend Metal Galaxy Day 2 was the "dark" side while Day 1 was the "light" side, and you will hear this is even more heavy with the setlist and the West Kami Band playing behind, and in case you didn't notice the intro is narrated by SuMetal in her very polished english (some might say "sunglish"?), don't forget is so hard for japanese people to learn proper english, our queen manage to improve a lot.

That wasn't actually Riho's last performance with BABYMETAL.
After 'LEGEND - METAL GALAXY' Day 2 on January 26th, 2020, she went on to perform at seven of the shows on the early 2020 World Tour.
Her last show with BABYMETAL was February 13th, 2020 in Cologne, Germany.
