BabyMetal’s fanbase crosses generations. I’m 43yo and my niece is 21yo. In 2019, we both went to watch BabyMetal at San Francisco. Both head banged. Jumped. Yelled. Lost our voices. That night I was the cool Uncle. Met great people who represented all walks of life. Truly earned the title…. The One!!!

"What is happening in the crowd?"
    - That, my dear, is a mosh pit. Babymetal pits are friendly, so don't worry too much about your hips. ;-)
"Where do they get the energy?"
    - Only the fox god knows. ;-)
"Their fans love them, don't they?"
    - Yep. Yep, we do.
"How can those girls dance like that and then sing on key?"
    - They're athletes. I can't put it any better.
    "You guys are amazing."

I’m a grown man over 40+ and I LOVE babymetal. Totally agree with you on their energy level. They are really professional you know. That’s what drive the fan base I think. It’s not three little girls cluelessly wandering around. They were well prepared, well rehearsed, and going all out in a concert with their fantastic band at the back. Professional grade I would say. ❤️

I'm a professional musician. and i cry every time too. every song. there are a few songs in particular and you will discover them, I'm sure of it. I am an ALL IN fan and by that I mean, 6 years strong now, I've seen them live, officially became part of THE ONE, and listened to their albums hundreds if not thousands of times. I would die for this band. That being said, I'm glad you get it too. I just want to tell you though that the show you'll see won't have this large of a production. Their main tours just have a giant BABYMETAL flag background but the energy is absolutely still there. I'll be there in Chicago! Have fun at your concert and thanks for sharing your fun reaction!

  • @Shoe-metal

So here's the thing about the show you are going to: you're not going to _see it,_ you're going to _BE A PART OF IT._ "We are... BABYMETAL!" 😊

Welcome to The One! You're officially one of us now and part of the family; you're officially a "Kitsune"! You, obviously, 'get it'! ;-)
We've all been there: the energy, the admiration for the girls.... that first tear when watching BABYMETAL... :-) And it won't be the last tears, I promise you.
And that's why BABYMETAL fans love watching other people discover that magic: it's wonderful to see that 'click' happening in someone else's brain, experiencing the power, the talent, the happiness and the love that is BABYMETAL..... and to, vicariously, experience that again. Most of the time the road there takes a bit longer, from "WTF?!", to "this is interesting..!", to "this is amazing!", but we love to see that path of discovery. And I'm positive that I can speak for every other Kitsune who watches your BABYMETAL reactions: we're looking forward to seeing you go down that path and we'll accompany and help you on every step! "Always on your side! We are The One! We are BABYMETAL! Kitsune up!"

  • @Grington300

"WE ARE - BABYMETAL!!!" That reaction was even better than your reaction for Karate. Talking about their energy - this was the show finale, they had been singing and dancing flat out for over an hour already. You're not the first reactor to shed a tear with Babymetal - although you are possibly the first to do it with Road of Resistance. The song that forces out most tears is 'The One'.
The girls had seen how foreign fans were learning Japanese just to sing along with them at their shows around the world, so they challenged themselves to learn a song entirely in English as a thank you, to show their appreciation of their fans and as a sort of love letter to them.
You could go easy on yourself and react to the official video - that is in half and half Japanese and English but at live shows ever since they always sing it all in English ... and most recently the first half is virtually a capella or "unfinished" (just piano and maybe violin accompaniment).
Versions that bring most tears are the 19 minute video (these can be found on Dailymotion) of 'Tales of the Destinies' (a prog rock song praised by Mike Portnoy formerly of Dream Theater, this is the only time it has been played live) and 'The One', two songs were written together and played one after the other to close the first of their two nights at Tokyo Dome in front of 55,000 fans all wearing neck braces that lit up. The other is the half "unfinished" version from Legend S (Su-metal's 20th birthday shows) in Hiroshima.

I am sure Babymetal, on top of the music, is a very strong reminder of the pure and innocence in us. Seeing it's delicate power prevail is a reminder we carry inside us a living force which may look weak, but is not. However, it's not the force of the adults, or anyone who thinks they can own it. It's untainted and reminds you of the best in yourself. That's what makes you cry. And me.

  • @donald-waters
    @donald-waters 5 ปีที่แล้ว +19

Yes... You get to see them LIVE!!
Their headline sets are usually 90 minutes at that energy level.
Su is a World Class soprano... she nails it every time.
I've seen them 5 times in the US, and it's the most diverse fan base I've ever been among.
One thing I really enjoyed was seeing fathers having a band that they could share the Metal experience of their youth, with their daughters. When I saw them at the Hammerstein in NYC 2014, the people next to me were a Father with his 11 year old daughter. To quote them, "It's the first thing we've done together where we both want to be here, and we don't know which of us is more excited."
The stage set for your show will probably be minimal, but all you need are the performers.
They will be doing their full production stage show here in L.A. at the Forum. They will be the 1st Japanese band to headline the venue in over 30 years.

It comes naturally. Their childlike acting, their adorable smilings during their shows, like when they walk along the stage way in this live performance... truely adorable smiling, and the innocence in their voices create that extremely overprotective feeling within you. Like you want to protect your own babychild from the harms of the sad reality of our world, that makes your eyes water. That feel is what drags you into their performances. At least, that is how BM works for me. And I am even not a metal head at all, just occasionally listening to some heavier stuff.

You would be more surprised by the fact that this song was played as the closing song of their 90-minute show. This show was in 2015, the main singer was just 17 years old and the other two were 15, now they are 4 years older, much better and matured than those days. You don't have to worry about your age, I'm a 48-year-old thrasher who'd been to the first Japan tour of Metallica in '86, and moreover, as BABYMETAL sings in their other anthem, THE ONE, we are the one when we are standing in the circle pit side by side.

Glad you are going to see them. But it might not be as big as production as here but they always are good live. I am going in october to see them on LA. The band musicians are some of the best in Japan. This was in 2015. In 2016 they sold out Tokyo dome two nights in a row, 55,000 people each night. Su, the lead singer, has awesome crowd control. You aint seen nothing yet. And yes Babymetal has fans from all age groups. That makes them different. Once you get over the dancing to metal, you realize they are so good and the dancing actually works with their songs.

If you want a total change of pace and a chance to see why her fans call her Queen Su, may I suggest No Rain No Rainbow from Legend S. This is a pure power ballard with Su singing solo. It really shows off the power of her voice. Additionally there is no chance it will be performed on the tour. It is very rarely performed and I don't think ever outside of Japan.
This is a very emotional performance as it was a special 20th birthday concert for Su in her home city of Hiroshima (20 is their coming of age in Japan). Additionally for fans this is one of the very last recorded performances by one of their guitarist Mikio Fujioka who sadly died shortly after this.

I've often wondered about my frequent emotional reactions to Babymetal as well. I mean, I'm a grizzled old curmudgeon, but these girls really activate something unique in me. I think it's pride. You quickly get a sense of how hard they're working out there, as well as how brave they are to be doing it at all, especially in a genre that could be and often is hostile to their style, and when they succeed you just feel so happy for them, and glad that they're getting the love they deserve from the crowd. You're always rooting for them. When they win you over to their side, you end up on their side ALL THE WAY. Looks like you're there.

Some advice since you are going to see them live. If you want to truly experience the what BABYMETAL's fanbase is like, get to the venue early to experience the queue. Fans will start lining up the night before if the venue/city will allow them, or as early the day of they are allowed to. If you get there early, one or two fans at the front of the line will write a letter and number on the back of your hand to show your place in line, which allows you to leave the line for food and bio breaks. It also allows you the chance to meet and talk to the other fans up and down the line without losing your place in line.
There will be many fans from Japan and around the world who have traveled to the show you are at. Some fans will be handing out fan made merchandise they brought to share, especially earlier in the day. There will likely be an fan-arranged afterparty(s) to enjoy with your new friends and discuss the show.

Great emotional reaction! I am one of those mid 50's metal heads that instantly fell in love with BabyMetal. To me, a lot of what drives the emotion in these reactions is that people who love metal music are hit by a tidal wave of "fresh air." Hearing and seeing something so new and fresh in a genre that you love, but that has been on life support for decades now, just brings in a rush of emotions. That is compounded by the fact that it is being done by three teenage girls, and they are mixing genres that are NOT supposed to go together.....but it totally works. We can thank Japan for that. Musically, Japan has always been known as a kinda "wheels off" place. All the normal rules don't apply. With that in mind....here is a suggestion for something every bit as glorious as Baby Metal.......the all girl Japanese rock band called "Band Maid." I can guarantee you will fall in love and you will cry. They may be the best thing out there today.

I don’t know what it is but there is something about BABYMETAL that’ll get me choked up when I listen to them. I can just feel the positivity without speaking a word of Japanese. I only found out about them a week ago and I am so far down the Foxhole RN. I have been watching as many reaction videos to them as I can find, actually how I came across your videos. I was actually trying to find people that thought BABYMETAL was bad but video after video there was nothing but chills or complete shock at how good it was. Feel no shame at shedding a tear, most of us are right there with you.

  • @PlezurBazar

And that was after the show had went on for well over an hour!
BABYMETAL makes a sound that is best described as joy.
Like Richard Townsend below (Kitsune up!), I am a 54 year old metal musician and songwriter, and I have been playing in working bands for over 40 years,
I am a Ol' salty Dog from Miami Fl and I was already crying way before you started to when I watched this video.
Honestly I was choking up hard, bawling, runny nose, and it 's pretty much like that every damn time I watch BABYMETAL,
it doesn't even matter how many times I have seen the video before. It's just ridiculous.
I loved that they moved you too, right from the start, just like to Karate the other night. (when i first visited your channel and subscribed!).
A lot of people just cant seem to wrap their head around this band right away.
It is interesting that most reactors have to be about three songs in before it clicks for them, but it almost always does.
You "got it" right away and I am certain that means something beautiful about your soul!
The song writing, the musicians, the choreography, the stages, lighting, crowds, backstory, history. Everything about this act is next level.
They literally invented their very own genera and have made it one of the fastest growing generas in the World today,
and they were well on their way to achieving it all before their 16th Birthdays had passed.
You're just two steps into the Foxhole, just wait, its just a taste of what lays ahead!
    Welcome to The One!
    Kitsune up!

They make me cry like a kid fairly regularly! God help me if they focus on Mikio (RIP), I'm a blubbering mess! BJ, Miko Fujioka was a guitarist in the Kami Band. He was a virtuoso on the guitar like no other. He was a guitar instructor at Musicians Institute of Tokyo, and was the guitar teacher of Takayoshi Ohmura, one of the other Kami Band members. He was an avid amateur astronomer. He was stargazing on a high observation platform New Year's eve 2017 when he fell off. He died in the hospital about a week or so later. This was so devastating, but the band pushed through a rough year (Yui Mizono left also due to health issues ), and they came back stronger than ever!
