Storm surge has inundated roads and winds have some some damage in Sargent Beach. Power lines are down and the winds and storm surge continue.

I don’t understand Texas. In North Carolina, if you are beachfront, or close to the ocean, you have your windows boarded up. Further inland, out of the surge area, you board up what you can, and tape up what you can’t.

Not that I agree with them, but I have heard people say that boarding up windows isn't worth the effort, considering the rest of the damage. For instance, boarding up windows won't stop flooding, roof damage, or water penetration through every nook and cranny.

This storm was supposed to make landfall near Corpus until just hours before when it shifted straight to Sargent. Most people didn't have time to board windows up as they had to pack their stuff to leave. Also, with this damage even boarded windows wouldn't have done any good. Some people literally lost everything not just in Sargent but further inland too.
