    This is perfect for my paralyzed brother, who uses the dual clutch as a throttle and handbrake.

    • @benonwheels
      @benonwheels 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I use the McLaren GT3 rim dual clutch paddles as throttle and brake. I have tried the Podium Advanced Paddle Module with the F1 rim but found the clutch paddles are too low and in a very awkward position to reach as well as pointing downwards. Plus they're a bit too close to the shifter paddles for my liking. If you're looking for a hand control solution I would recommend the McLaren GT3 rim more than the paddle module. Unfortunately I don't think Fanatec sell the McLaren rim anymore, or at least they don't have any stock right now.

    The hall effect sensor is measuring between those 2 magnets. If it were just one itd have to be crazy powerful to provide an accurately field over that long of a throw.

    If you enjoy the tight tolerances between the two paddles try the spacers on the upper secondary paddles.
    Not only does it allow you to better feel where which paddle is to reduce the chance of clicking the wrong paddle, it makes the secondary paddle stop at the EXACT height of the primary shifters so they are flush as if there are no spacers installed. that satisfied me more than it should xD
    I installed it that way. stopping at the same height also prevents you from accidentally shifting when using the secondaries in the heat of battle.
    the APM is ridiculously usefull and i actually bought two (for LE2018 and UniHub).
    The only downsight is that the holes for the screws create major weak points because of the sunk in screw. there‘s not a lot of material left in the stress area. people may break them...
    ...but!
    Great product and most importantly, great review!

    If you tie a string to the wire you're removing and pull it through, leaving the wire hanging out of both ends of the case, when you install the new wire, tie the string to the new wire and pull it back through the case and then remove the string from the wire. Then there's no issue with getting the wire fed through the case.

    Barry, you go on about the + and - cutouts but what to the eye seems more of a weak point is the close proximity of those screw holes to each other and the edge of the material. As that's the point where all the force of the big gorilla (the driver) is going through to the mechanism... it might be the first thing to crack and fail if at all.

    • @DeadMTrigger

    • @azzifyy5988
      @azzifyy5988 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      DeadMTrigger If they have then they're pulling on them unnecessarily hard and it's their own fault, I use mine daily and I'm pretty rough with them myself but to break one of the paddles off you'd have to keep pulling with significantly more force than required to make the shift.

    You must remember that a 2mm thick piece of carbon fiber is just as strong (if not stronger) than a same thickness steel plate. So I wouldn’t worry about their structural integrity

    • @MiraDaWulf

    Somehow cuted plus and minus signs in carbon is not ok, because it weakens them, but having connection holes in same paddles with much less material around them is fine.

      @CGoody5642 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're not applying pressure to the mounting points directly. That's a false equivalency
      I dislike them more since someone may want to map the shift directions to be opposite.

    To program the clutch, you shouldn't pull both clutches...what you're doing actually there is activating the bite point, not entering programming mode, or at least not entering programming mode in the way they want you to.
    To program it, just pull only one clutch, then press up/down on the funky-switch. That's it. Great review as always though!

    My left paddle switch recently started to mishift. I looked closer and saw that the magnet on the paddle had moved up a bit making the throw shorter. I tried pushing it back but it didn’t work well since the space is so narrow for any tool. Got a RMA from Fanatec and will sadly have to send it back for service.

  • @nickh7309

    Hi. Do you think there is a way to decrease the tension on the analogue gold paddles for the accelerator and brake use , as long use it’s stressful on the hand/fingers as it’s in an awkward position and strong tension to pull especially holding on half throttle to full throttle all the time, they would be best positioned where the Gear shifters are as I would be able to use different fingers to control the accelerator/brake. (the reason for this is that I am a paraplegic so can’t use the pedals and have to use the analogue paddle shifters for accelerate and brake) As I don’t think there is any way of moving the analogue paddle to the centre paddle. I know this is an old post , but the advanced paddle system is still relevant today and has not been replaced/changed since back then.

    Sub'd. I have questions on Podium Advanced Paddle Module with V2 wheel.
    1) Can anyone consistently match lap times using podium paddles for throttle/brake that they can do using regular pedals?
    2) Is using podium paddles for throttle/brake feasible/easy (I don't know if I/anyone could use paddles easily for gear changes and throttle/brake as I understand it only the lower gold paddles can be used for throttle/brake or can upper paddles be used for throttle/brake?)
    3) Would RaceRoom, ACC and iRacing recognise input from the podium paddles? I don't have iRacing yet.
    I have a T300 with T3PA but had to use contact cleaner twice on throttle and failing brake I am tired of this hence looking into upgrade to ClubSport 2.5 base with V2 but doing away with pedals and using podium paddle add-on instead rather than purchasing Elite LC or ClubSport V3 pedals.

      Their customer service and support is shockingly, embarrassingly bad. Just awful.

      No, it isn't. It uses magnetic shifters, same kind non podium fanatec shifters use.
