But now that I'm trying to get it started it just wont start, I know nothing about this stuff, but I was told to clean the whole thing up. This helped me get a feel of what to do, so thank you

I must say that I really appreciate all of your videos that you put out on youtube, they are really helpful and fun to watch! :D But I got one question for you: I have a similar pocketbike just like you. But when I am riding it and giving full throttle, after maybe 5 seconds the motor dies. And I have cleaned and reassembled the carburetor, but the motor still stops. Do you know what the problem could be?

    • @fnaguitarplayer9
      @fnaguitarplayer9  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheMechanic Hey! Glad to hear you like my videos, and glad to hear they help out! That sounds like its not getting enough fuel, either from a clogged fuel filter, pinched off fuel line or the float level isn't set right, in other words, the bowl fills up then when you give it throttle it runs out of all of the gas in the bowl before it has time to fill back up. Another possibility is the gas cap isn't venting, and its building a vacuum not letting the gas flow. Hope this helps! Thanks for Watching!!!

  • @fnaguitarplayer9
    @fnaguitarplayer9  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    First thing i would recommend doing is getting another plug (even a plug from another engine, just to test) to make sure its not the plug, OR take the plug thats in the bike out and check it in another engine for spark, just rule out the plug 100%, if it fires, you probably do need a new magneto since you unhooked the kill wire and still no good.

    I was riding my pocket bike down the street and it just bogged down and wouldn't start up again... it would start then die but wont stay longer than 2 sec... • @fnaguitarplayer9
      @fnaguitarplayer9  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      sounds like the carburetor got some dirt in it, or the valve stuck, the shut off valves on these are known for acting up, first thing i would do is clean the carburetor, i don't think it would be 2 month old gas, i've used 6 month old gas without stabilizer in it in mine before with no problems, with these bikes, its always a carburetor problem haha hope this helps, thanks for watching!!!

      There is a adjustment on the side of the carburetor that adjusts the idle speed, put the bike on a stand or block so the back wheel wont' touch the ground, get it running and adjust the screw until it stops spinning, then it should be good to go. If it doesn't want to adjust in the carburetor may need to be cleaned as well, if the mixture isn't right do to dirty jets it will do that as well, but i'd say you can just adjust it. Hello there, got two pocket bikes that I havent used in something like 6 or 7 years. One doesn't start at all, but I have the feeling that the gas filter is all clogged. I'll have a closer look. The other one started really easily, worked like a charm for something like ten minutes then stopped. I remember that the last time I used I had to play with the thing 'flow thingy' which is next to the 'on/off' gas thingy (It know those names in French but not in English, too technical) in order to make it work, and suspected that it was absolutely abnormal without knowing anything about the presence of this overflow. Could this be related or is it pretty much always the carburetor that is the guilty part. Thanks so much for this video, it is gonna help me anyways, I like to dismantle things !

    • @fnaguitarplayer9
      @fnaguitarplayer9  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +John Bess On some if its a 2 stroke the mixture will be printed / molded into the top of the gas cap, if it says on it then its a 2 stroke, look for a valve cover if it has one it is 4 stroke, and will also have a oil dipstick or plug to put oil in it and another to drain it. If its 2 stroke it will basically only have a carburetor and spark plug, very simple setup. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!!!

    • @fnaguitarplayer9
      @fnaguitarplayer9  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it can cause hard starting if its excessive, think of it like filling the tank with say diesel instead of gas, thats a extreme case but it is a comparison, since the oil isn't flammable, it just burns along with the gas. Even if it run it would foul the plug really quick with that much oil in it. Thanks for Watching!!!

    Cutting and welding torch cleaners work for carbs

  • @xBroWsinG

    When I turn my mini bike on, and I put the choke thing down , the bike takes off (of course I lift the back so it won't go anywhere) so I have to lift it back up and it stops trying to go and then cuts off, I cleaned the carburetor which helped because I haven't run the bike in over a year, so it wouldn't start at first, but cleaning the carburetor made it start. But it does what I said in the beginning, any advice? Thank you.

    • @xBroWsinG
      @xBroWsinG 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I start the bike with the choke up because like I said haven't used it in a year, but once it's warm enough I have to put the choke down(open) , that's when the bike wants to take off by itself I don't even throttle it at all

    • @fnaguitarplayer9
      @fnaguitarplayer9  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +xBroWsinG sounds like the carburetor isn't letting enough fuel through and its running to lean, that usually causes one to speed up like that. If you done cleaned it, and still doing it, then I'd say either the needle needs adjusted (the part that goes in the top, there is different settings on it, i've never had to adjust one before) or you may just need a new carburetor, they are pretty cheap on ebay for these. @fnaguitarplayer9  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jake Rowe Sounds like the carburetor needs cleaned, or the fuel filter is clogged, it should be similar to what i showed in this video, if its not exactly like that, most small engine carburetors are very similar. I'd also suggest checking the float level, if its not set right it will only let a small amount of gas in the bowl and it will run like that as well. I'd also drain any old gas out of it and replace the fuel filter, a bad fuel filter will act like that, to test that, unhook the fuel line from the carburetor, there should be a good amount of fuel flowing through it, if its just a trickle or a few drops, thats probably the problem. Hope this helps, Thanks for Watching!

      @fnaguitarplayer9  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jake Rowe If you bent it and it still overflows then you probable have a bad needle or seat, sometimes you can get by with just cleaning the needle, it should have a rubber tip (some have metal tips) just clean that with a clean rag and see if it helps. I always try that first.

    • @fnaguitarplayer9
      @fnaguitarplayer9  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      owen long It can be, does it flood out or try to lean out, like its running out of fuel? If its leaning out it probably is the float, if its flooding out you may have a clogged air filter or the wrong size jet in it. A weak reed can cause that too. Thanks for Watching!!!

    Can you please help me my fuel switch valve is loose and gas leaks out of it. I need help how to fix it?

    • @fnaguitarplayer9
      @fnaguitarplayer9  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      victor VP You will probably have to replace it, they are bad about leaking, I've never had any problem out of mine but if you look up pocket bike fuel valve you should be able to find it, it should bolt up, and the fuel line slides over it with a clamp. Hope this helps, Thanks for Watching!!!

    Can you help please me how to reinstall the wires on the pocket bike????

    • @fnaguitarplayer9
      @fnaguitarplayer9  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      On the bikes like mine there is only one wire that runs from the coil and goes to the shut off switch, nothing in between, if its a bigger bike with all the lights and stuff you would have to find a schematic/wiring diagram for it. Thanks for Watching!!!

    why does the idle speed matter? im asking cause i wanna make sure im takin good care of my bike

    • @fnaguitarplayer9
      @fnaguitarplayer9  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These pockets will only idle so slow anyways, i adjust mine so it will stay running, if its to slow it won't cool as well either since these are air cooled, and if its idling to fast, then the clutch will engage and it will take off when you start it, with the back wheel propped up off the ground, get it running, turn the screw until the wheel starts spinning, then back it off between where it stops spinning and before it stops running, and adjust to what sounds/feels right to you. There is a certain RPM listed for these, but i'd say in the middle of those 2 is where it should be, thats the easiest way i can describe it. Thanks for Watching!!!

      ok thanks mayn and i took off the cap for my forks because i messed up the handlebar taking it off and found out the RIGHT way to do it to put a NEW one on so should i buy a new handlebar or try to fix the one i have? its not perfectly rounded anymore to fit snuggly on The fork like it has flat spots. and another question i have is when i took the cap off the forks i was looking away at the handlebar and out of the corner of my eye all of a sudden two rings like a quarter inch think fell off and i was thinking they go between the cap and the bearings but when i put the top one on i cant fit the bottom between the bottom bracket that holds the forks together idk what the right term at the moment is but hopefully you know what im talking about and i cant find any videos or information about the assembly of the forks on the pocketbikes so could you help me out please any information is appreciated. I originaly took the handle bar off 'cause it was my cousins and it had flat spots so i messed it up even more bending it to get it off like a dumb mf lol and i was looking at it today and was like ohhhhhhhh*facepalm*

    hi can you help me
    whenever i start my pocketbike it goes crazy and starts flying forward without my even pulling the throttle
    how do i fix this
    thanks

    • @fnaguitarplayer9
      @fnaguitarplayer9  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      sounds like the throttle may have stuck, i would suggest unscrewing the throttle at the top of the carburetor and reinstall it. you can look inside the carburetor through the intake and see if its moving up and down. Thanks for Watching!!!

    • @fnaguitarplayer9
      @fnaguitarplayer9  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +John Bess sounds like it needs to be loosened up some, if i remember correctly there is adjustment where the cable goes to it.

    • @johnbess7853
      @johnbess7853 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Front is a single thumb adjuster and rear is 2 single adjustments that use a allen wrench. Hope that makes sense lol

    • @fnaguitarplayer9
      @fnaguitarplayer9  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it does haha I'd say just try adjusting them out about a turn and see what it does, it should start to loosen up after a turn or 2 i'd say.

    • @fnaguitarplayer9
      @fnaguitarplayer9  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it s a 2 cycle you may have to much oil in the gas making the unburnt oil leak out the exhaust, if its a 4 cycle you may need a gasket on the crankcase or crankshaft seals are bad. Thanks for Watching!!!

    Can a overflow problem stop a engine from starting?

    • @fnaguitarplayer9
      @fnaguitarplayer9  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it definitely can, even if its not overflowing at the moment, the engine may be flooded to where it won't want to start, after you fix the overflow problem, remove the spark plug, and while not standing facing the hole, crank it over, gas will spray out so be careful of that, easy to start a fire or get gas in your eyes. then it should start fairly easily after putting the plug back in. Thanks for Watching!!!

  • @creepscast
    @creepscast 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Y'all, before you do this if you want to keep your gas thats in the tank just set the fuel tap to OFF and unscrew the two screws that attach the tap to the carb (be careful not to loose the black seal in the middle of the tap) and remove the tap and gas line and then take off the carb :)

    A lot of fuel is getting out through my carburetor.. help?

    • @fnaguitarplayer9
      @fnaguitarplayer9  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If its pouring out when its not running, then your float is probably stuck. if its spraying fuel out while its running then i'd say it running to rich. Thanks for Watching!!!

    • @fnaguitarplayer9
      @fnaguitarplayer9  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bashdar Kader Probably just needs tightened up, if it keeps working loose after tightening then the adjusters probably need replaced or you have a froze link in the chain causing it or a bad / worn sprocket(s). Thanks for Watching!!!

    My pocket bike isnt starting and when it used to start it leaked petrol so i took it to my mechanic and he said i need a new carburetor

    • @fnaguitarplayer9
      @fnaguitarplayer9  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It probably just needs cleaned if its been sitting for a while, alot of times the gas in the bowl will gum up and cause the jet to clog up. And the problem with it leaking fuel is probably from the float issue i talked about in the video. But for the price, a new carburetor may be easier/faster for you. thanks for watching!!!

      Stuck throttle

    • @fnaguitarplayer9
      @fnaguitarplayer9  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +ryan milflores like the other comment, its probably just a stuck throttle, could be several causes though either a rusted up cable or the plunger got stuck in the carb. Thanks for Watching!!!

    that is the tuning screw not the idle screw

    • @fnaguitarplayer9
      @fnaguitarplayer9  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      historyskyz It adjusts idle speed, if you take it apart you can see that it touches the plunger in the carburetor. It acts like a mixture screw since you adjust the idle. Other ones could be different though, hard to say. Thanks for Watching!

    • @thaister88
      @thaister88 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      oh sorry on my pocket bike if i turn it to the right it's for top speed and if i loosen it i'd get more torque for acceleration, theres also another small screw for the idle which just pushes the plastic piece that holds the throttle cable in more

    • @fnaguitarplayer9
      @fnaguitarplayer9  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      historyskyz Your fine! I wish mine had that, it would be nice to be able to tune it, on mine you have to adjust the needle on the plunger part and/or change out the jet.
