  • GeneratePress theme customization takes a step forward with the forthcoming post loop builder and template tool.
    I love the simplicity and flexibility offered by GeneratePress and GenerateBlocks, but always found the way in which you customize the post loop a bit of a pain.
    With this new method, it takes on a much more logical method, more inline with the tools I'm used to using.
    Let me show you how easy it is to start building 100% unique WordPress post loops, add in your own custom data with the likes of ACF (Advanced Custom Fields) and build more unique designs in minutes!
    GeneratePress theme customization just keeps getting easier!

    Darn you Paul, I just got comfortable using Bricks and you start showing great content on another great tool for building websites. LOL, couldn't help but give you a thumbs up on the GP/GB content. It's great to see more options!

    Once again, generatepress/blocks shows how dominate it is over those bloated builders. Great vid.

      That’s one of the things that makes GeneratePress (and GenerateBlocks) a great choice. It works both for beginners as well as for us that’s experienced.
      It’s easy enough for “everyone” without restricting developers. I’ve been a developer for 20+ years and developed lots of themes as well as built my own CMS in the past.
      But the time GeneratePress saves me combined with not having to write lots of boilerplate code is a huge benefit.
      So I would recommend GeneratePress for both beginners as well as for experienced developers. 🙂

    GeneratePress + GenerateBlocks once again applies “the Generate way” (to quote Tom) to make things easy to use but extremely powerful. Without any bloat.
    It would be quite interesting to see a collaboration between Thomas (Bricks), Louis (Cwicly) and Tom (GeneratePress) to once and for all make the ultimate theme / Gutenberg experience. I think that those three all are a couple of steps ahead of the rest and they all have a unique and creative way to improve WP and Gutenberg.
    In reality I think the result wouldn’t be that great. But the idea to take the best parts from each theme (+plugin) is at least an interesting thought. 🙂

      Hmm, interesting! It could be genius or chaos! lol

    • @DanielNordmark
      @DanielNordmark ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@WPTuts I’m leaning towards chaos. 😄
      My impression of each of them is that they are very friendly and humble to talk to, but at the same time have a strong will and a clear vision of the road ahead.
      But I can’t help that no matter which of the three I use, I kind of wished that some particular feature from the others was available. 😄

    Great work, Paul. If you didn't want to use that CSS, you could probably just give the "minutes" heading a little top negative margin or bottom margin.

      No dude, put it out. We all have different delivery methods and there’s plenty of room for more coverage of GP and the new features.

    i love that theme and tried to complete your tutorial, but i´m already stuck at 2:40... i chose the Block element, set Element type to Loop Template, chose the locations (in my case Blog, Startpage an archives) and added the container... the first difference to your tutorial is, that i have to choose between a simple container or a inner container, but neither of two got the option to set the inner container width and everything following.... im using generatepress premium in version 3.3.0. .... is it possible that they`ve changed somthing here in the elements section? sorry if my question appears dump, but really wanna realize this theme, but ive never used GP before :( i really appreciate your help!

    Really great tutorial and I'm intending to use this now that the loop template is available. I have a question: I'm assuming the image being pulled through for each card is the Feature Image. My usual images are in a 5:4 ratio, 1200 px wide. When I set the image size to large and the object fit to none, as you show, I'm getting a zoomed in image that doesn't work. Are you using a feature image for your post, which is not used on your post as a Hero, and thus the image size can be optimised for your card image? I hope that makes sense. And if you do, what size is your image?

    • @PlanetPatrick
      @PlanetPatrick ปีที่แล้ว

      In an attempt to answer my own question, I replaced the standard image with a container block + background image set to Feature Image, and inserted a spacer set to 200px. This seemed to give me a better proportion on the image pulled through from each single post.

    Seems like it is about to become a Kadence+Blocks competitor... ;)

    • @WPTuts
      @WPTuts  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the key difference between Kadence and Generate is that Kadence is more like a page builder with lots of pre-built blocks whereas GB is more bare bones but lots of flexibility to create your own tools.

    • @webgeneral
      @webgeneral ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WPTuts That's absolutely true! I actually wouldn't call one better than the other... Except for a WooCommerce shop, there I'd prefer Kadence because of ShopKit.
