- Welcome to the first episode in our NEW Budget Boho Makeover Series at my sisters starter home here in Arizona! This patio makeover started as an amazing blank slate, and we were able to add an outdoor dining area, a lounge/fire pit space as well as an intimate sitting area... all on a budget!! We styled this outdoor patio in a modern boho design style to give an earthy & cozy feel & we couldn't be more happy with how this outdoor patio transformation turned out! An outdoor rug serves the same purpose as an indoor area rug, it pulls your seating area together into a single space that's inviting and comfortable. I love❤️ how it turned out.

Agree! I want more outside rugs sooooo bad, but my 🐶 ruins them all. I'm such a believer of area rugs in my home. They just change the whole feel, look, functionality. Do ya'll know any hacks for pups that need to mark EVERY rug in your home? HELP?!
Yeah but it's made differently the outdoor rug will hold up much better cause it would been made to deal with the weather rain and most importantly the sun 🌞 but no one will see the difference it just depends on preference 😊
Loved it. I like the cleaning part, too! Fun series. I thought of a 3rd planter on the 3rd side of the AC perhaps. A rug under the two rocking chair area. A storage area for the cushions to tuck in when it rains - would fit in by the wall easily. Great job, love your smile :)
I was thinking the rocking chairs should be moved farther apart so they don't hit the windows, especially on those windy days.
I was thinking the same thing about another planter!!
Rain???? this is Arizona. Yearly rainfall is maybe 9" total. And when a monsoon blows in, it is on you in minutes, over in minutes, and anything will dry in minutes, as well.
The AC being covered by the planters was genius! Even with all the problems and chaos it turned out beautiful!!

The patio is awesome. I love the way each area has it's own personally. The rocking chairs are my favorite. I love sitting in mine in the evenings watching the sunset. It really is true that nothing ever goes smoothly! I can't think of a single project we've ever done that hasn't had something unexpected pop up. But you guys made it work and it turned out great!

This space is really big and you can do so much with it and overcrowd it, but you found the perfect solution to not do that and let everthing have there own space but it is also connected! Really love it!

My favorite thing is the sitting area! I think the rugs are perfect for the two different spaces you created. I also love that Kyle is not just your minion, it’s obvious he enjoys doing this along with you. Plus, he’s the one with all the cool tools 😉

I like the creative way you used the plants to block their air conditioner unit. That space definitely benefits from the use of plants. One thing I think I would do is paint that concrete wall.

What a large space to tackle! Using rugs brings your spaces all together. The patio is just wonderful. It is such a great space to watch their little ones playing in the backyard.

I loved this space. I love the planters and I do not have any form of a green thumb. I really hate that their septic tank almost spoiled everything. But you both really did a wonderful thing for your sister and brother in law. I am in AWE!!!

I love the way you covered the a/c unit without blocking it. I would have added a planter to the 3rd side.
I think the rocking chair area needs something to define it more as their own space as a couple. Perhaps another rug to define it, some lighting, and maybe pillows that define the space as just theirs. (Ie: "Mr. and Mrs. Pillows")

Hi guys , My favorite area in this patio is the firepit area . I can see myself doing everything there , have drinks , eat, marsh mellows, having some wine and chilling........ everything😊 The overall makeover is great and relaxing but the firepit my fav. Thank you guys so much for sharing these great ideas with us 👍👍
I was thinking something cool would be to add a projector screen that comes down off the one side of the covered porch area. So they could sit on the couches and have movie nights outside. Thought that would be so fun for them and their kids ❤️

I think a 3rd planter box would have been good to hide the other side of the a/c. They are really pretty with the snake plants. A storage box for the cushions/toys would have been a convenient touch.
I love how the patio has so many places where the family, friends, or guests can be together or have some private time and still enjoy the benefits of being outdoors. The rocking chair setup is my favorite area, hands down. I love rocking and reading.

I love the idea of concealing the air conditioning unit with the plants! I have a filter for my in ground pool and it is quite an eyesore and the previous owners put it out in the open. It never occurred to me that I could conceal it with tall plants! Thanks for the great idea!
