Wait.. how is it legal to fly anywhere there? I assume you have PArt 107 and you got a waiver to fly over city/roads/people? Plus.. the height had to be over 400 feet right? But I forget if you can fly up along a building that is over 400 feet legally (assuming all else is legal)? I think you can right.. within 400 feet of the structure and up to 400 feet above it?

Not true in NYC have to have a permit to fly anywhere in NYC as that is NYC Laws
A permit is required to take off or land a drone in New York City. The NYPD reviews permit applications and issues them in partnership with the Department of Transportation. Applications must be submitted through the NYPD Online Services Portal at least 30 days in advance. The application requires proof of FAA licensure and a Commercial General Liability with UAS Coverage. There is also a non-refundable $150 fee.

Privacy? That's a dumb assertion. People don't have privacy out in the open. And anything visible from out in the open is covered by the open field doctrine. I recommend researching where US citizens have a reasonable expectation of privacy. For quick reference though, downtown Chicago is NOT a place one has a reasonable expectation of privacy.
      Safety concerns are a maybe.
Without talking to the pilot about their safety protocols, I don't see how you can accurately assess there was DISREGARD for safety.
If you enjoy the experience of resentment you're demonstrating, carry on. If you don't enjoy that experience and the feedback it gets you, seek out new information and find a new perspective.
      ✌️💚

    • @Dangit-Dave

@@yoopersoul privacy - you can clearly see into living quarters in the Trump tower - privacy concern.
Safety concerns - he’s not aware of current drone settings as he even states in video - talking while he should be focused on flying - flying near a former presidents tower (security risk)
Nothing seems illegal but ethics and safety can be improved.
Flying near towers like this without out proper permission does raise flags as well. FAA guidelines are always getting better but it’s the drone pilots responsibility to be smart and not be a thrill seeker, especially in densely populated cities.
We should probably submit this to FAA so that a greater conversation on these types of situations can be raised.

Yeah go do that and see if they contact local PD who will require you obey NYC Drone laws
AND if you "think" NYCPD has no authority to do so, go watch the FAA's own "Drone safety it's the law " video that says to all Law enforcement to ENFORCE your local drone laws FIRST and contact the FAA afterwards
to many people assume they can do as they wish and fly where they wish, that is simply NOT TRUE and also another reason why the FAA has now created so many ignorant regulations regarding this Hobby
