Since NYC is so boneheaded about drones I have to. I understand that they can dictate takeoff and landing requirements since they own the ground but if you hand launce and hand catch your drone you re technically not using the ground to take off or land. Is there anything that restricts the air space around your hands ?
It’s the land or property your standing on while hand launching and catching that they control not you. Recreational flying is on its last legs because big corporations as well as the government( that most people voted for) is slowly getting rid of it all together. Even the days of Commercial pilots like myself are numbered
Hi, Im travelling over to NYC in November from the UK. I want to fly my sub 250g mini 3 pro and I have completed the TRUST certificate. Can I fly there legally ? thanks
Thanks for sharing this info …. One question … ok I know now all this you explained but let’s say there is a structure near and I want to fly my drone lets say 30 to 50 ft agl just to get a nice photo of whatever that is let’s say a graffiti,a mural or a statue, can I do it without being penalized? Or I have to get like 3 painters extension poles together with a camera or phone mount to get this photo I want?

Can you fly with European pilot certification form EASA or do you need to make new one in US. If yes, can you do it if you are not a US citizen ?
If you’re flying in the US, you have to have the Remote Pilot Certificate (aka Part 107 license). Being a US citizen is not a requirement. But all of the testing centers are in the US. A workaround if you are coming from another country would be to have someone with a remote pilot certificate stand next to you as you fly. That meets the legal requirements and you wouldn’t have to have the certification.

@@DroneLaunchAcademy thank you that’s very helpful!
For chance to get permit you should(no guarantees if they approve it): 1. Provide a copy of Applicant’s Government-Issued Photo ID 2. Provide a copy of the insurance policy required under the rules - it’s about 60$ per month or about 650$ per year. 3. A copy of the applicant’s cybersecurity policies, or a detailed description of the applicant’s policies and procedures for securing the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of an unmanned aircrafts systems and underlying data 4. A copy of the applicant’s data privacy policy, or a detailed description of the applicant’s practices and procedures for protecting data privacy 5. A copy of the community notice. 6. Fee 150$ Who will pay at least 800$ for permit? Especially if your drone is under 500$ They definitely should to simplify rules and requirements for amateur creators.
Nobody will put themselves in that restricted mode. A little drone isn't a Cessna. They're fools for pushing this stupidity. I'd love to see people conform to this, but they probably won't.
That is what pisses me off to be honest .. yes I know drone can be use to do other things but for one 1 or 2 minutes video that is only going to motivate people to see NYC more … they don’t allow that … sucks
You said You can fly drones in the city, actually the city gives more complicated rules, permit applications and fees which NO one can afford to fly in the city. then the conclusion is it's impossible you can fly drones in the city
What we need to do take new york to court .. no small business can afford to pay high permit fees for photography. Thisbsint even a year permit its per occurance. This isn't the end of it. Just like gun laws in new york takes courts to stop police agency from acting like Faa . We have commercial license and no other state does what new york does.nypd flies heavy drones. This so many people leaving new york ...it's all about squeezing every one's wallet .
Isn't it just a money grab? What about with a sub 250g? Just for fun? Such a huge liability insurance seems to high for a sub 250 as well, makes no sense at all. It's just a money grab, right?
I really wish you guys would have talked about “recreational use”
This is for commercial use only, what about if you are just a Recreational drone flyer
thats what I want to know. buy a Neo fly it out y window fps and go around the hood and go back home.
@@IMAI-35 same
Hi, what if you are doing it as a hobby and your drone weights less than 250g? what are the requirements?
yes, me too, I'm recreational pilot my DRONE is under 250 G, as AMA member will offer property damage insurance
How about for recreational flying

Florida the FREE State get out of the Toilet Bowl ... Penelty HAHAH you will get Yankee tickets
These new laws suck, too complicated and horrific rules created by people who have no clue whatsoever.
More insanity in a crazy city.
