Nick... thanks so much for these six lessons! They're a really good start into slack key basics and for me, a newbie to the guitar, you instructed at the exactly the right pace. I wish you included a PayPal "donation" link... but it's not too late to do that. Again, thanks Nick.
I will have to build strength and callous on my fingers to even begin to do the " C " and the vamp that goes with it will take time but I can confirm it here...but im sloppy keep muting 3rd string..... one step at a time.... i will practice Ku'ipo ona ona. Thanks for sharing this helpful tutorial .
Hey Nick, great job on the slack key tutorials; after tutorial 6, what do you recommend? I see you have a lot of songs posted ...are there certain ones you’d recommend for beginners to try to learn first?
I’m so sorry I just saw this! I’m not sure why I didn’t get a notification. I would recommend maybe a song like Salomila. I know Mark Nelson already has a tutorial on this song. It uses the scale and a simple vamp. I play it a little differently and also played it in a C tuning in another video. But in Taropatch it’s a simple song and you can use it to practice playing a consistent bass in the background. Kealoha is another one you could try. I’ll try to make more tutorial videos soon. Those take much more time for me compared to just song recordings so I’ll see when I can do some. Thanks!
Haha thanks. Too funny bro. Got any other songs you think I should try? I know you told me about Maunaleo and Pua Kiele. I might try those if I get the chance
Nick Dworshak I don’t know haha. I just like those two songs! I’ll be here when you intern. I got into grad school but I’ll defer and go the following year
NOTE: Even if you don’t plan on doing much strumming, these chords are important to know for many slack key guitar songs.

Thanks so much! I’m glad you liked them so much! And thank you but I’m just doing this for fun right now. Good luck with the playing!

I’m glad you like the tutorials! Yeah some of those chords just take time to get used to.

@@genuinsanity haha yeah these strings take getting used to. And yeah the open tuning is great
