Yo cyclecruza, new ktm 690 smcr owner here and the TC pissed me off. I just bought a dongle for $114 and it gives you "supermoto abs" rear wheel will lock up with ABS on the front wheel still. And it remembers your TC settings so if you turn off the bike with TC off it will remember next time when you crank it up. Ya, its annoying to have to pay extra for that but its an easy install and well worth it if you are going to keep the bike.
Another mod to do! Sheesh. Thanks for letting know, I guess I have to shell out another $100+. 😔
Hey CC you don't have to roll it to turn it off
You can do it as soon as you start it. Just hold it for 5 sec with light on and you are good it will stay lit
are the wires into it for the light and buttons individually? if it's like that a gizmo to 'press' the button for 5 secs wouldn't be that hard to make as a connector-pigtail thing.
Either way it still sucks you can't turn it off and it stay off. Thanks for the tip tho!
Any brand that requires a resetting of settings every single key cycle, is just DUMB in the head.

@@lasskinn474 yea Its all worked together. The 5 sec is just there safety so you can't accidentally turn off TC or ABS . At least that's my guess. Obviously I don't work for KTM and have no inside knowledge of why they make things so difficult 🤣

@@CycleCruza I know that feeling but there is some info in there that could save you from a long walk. Like the little gas filter near the throttle body that needs to be inspected about every 6000 miles (if I remember correctly). Once that thing gets dirty the bike may stop running. Don’t ask me how I know.
Same for the filter in the gas tank but that is more like every 10,000 miles.

The Quickshifter+ is for up and downshifting 😉 Stay on the gas while upshifting and let off for downshifting 🙌

@@KTM_livin Probably he's distracted focusing on talking about a subject with a camera and it's a step too far taking notice of a bright flashing signal LED on the instrument panel.
Actually, in the video in mentioned that, I said that I've only had ONE bike that had a quick shifter out of the 13 bikes I've owned thus far. So I have a natural habit to always grab the clutch without thinking. It doesn't hit me until later that I remember I have a quickshifter. lol I'm not used to it. My former tuono had a quick shifter and I did the same thing sometimes but I only kept that bike for less than a year.

to power wheelie this thing. You either can tap the front brake before giving it throttle OR cut the throttle then quickly give it some. Works every time on 2nd gear

💯 I agree. And for those that say otherwise never rode a 450. It is the supreme supermoto.
I saw in your previous videos that you put a powercommander in your bike. What a lot of people dont know is : On the New KTM models the PC6 only affects the RPM from 6K to 8,5K. I definitly recommend you to ECU Tune that bike. Its the single best mod you can get for the bike. Thats where the low grunt and low and power comes from. Because of the EURO5 stuff we cant tune our bikes with power commanders anymore. They basically locked it for lower RPM´s.
Just saw this pop up in my feed. I want to thank you for always encouraging others to wear safety gear. I went to take off on my bike just to get gas. I was going to go without helmet but something told me to go out on all my gear. I ended up having a car top a hill in my lane as I met them. I had to swerve and took a hard knock (concussion)to my head. If I wasn’t wearing my helmet I wouldn’t be the same. I have never been knocked out in 43 years of life but the asphalt will do it to ya:) I have given up riding since that but will stay subscribed and keep up with ya man! Your repeated safeTy messages may have help save my life. To anyone reading this Always remember you you might as well be invisible riding a bike. I never had any wrecks in years of riding but this one did it for me. Maybe I’ll start again later when my family has grown older. It will still be the same things to face though.
They're geared really tall, gear a yz450 for 200kph and see how the wheelies go. I would go down 1 on the front straight away if I get one. 200 on a naked (I have a 990SM) is not a good time anyway, especially with a helmet peak.

What about adding a couple teeth to the rear instead? Why change the counter sprocket instead?
@@CycleCruza yeah, its just cheaper for a front. But its rumored a smaller front sprocket wears a chain faster but I can't say I've ever seen it make a significant difference. Its also less of a change to chain length if changing the front so more likely to keep a chain with the given axle adjustment.
My 23’ is bone stock. 2nd gear 30-40 mph, let off gas and let front end drop, giver the beans and it will yank straight up to 12:00. Im 6’2” 200lbs btw. I’ve tried clutching it like my r6 a bunch and it’s weird. Feel like something’s wrong with my clutch?

Just admit it CycleCruza...your YZ 450 FX is an all-around better bike than your KTM.
The KTM is much better in terms of maintenance, otherwise, the yz450fx supermoto is a bit more fun but I can't ride it nraly as much as the KTM.
if i owned that bike from new, i think id have changed the oil by now a few times and worked to run the engine in properly, i think the 1st oil change early as possible (50-100mls) could be the most important too. there was some guy on YT made a good video abt running in bikes
I usually never keep a bike long enough that it matters. 😂 However, my YZ is the longest I ever kept a bike (since 2018) and I change the oil about every 8 hours and never did anything to it and runs great.
Something else came to mind on this wheelie topic ...
If you bump the shifter with your toe by accident when the quick-shifter is enabled it'll cut power momentarily, try again making extra sure toe is clear
& Maybe try mode 2 instead of mode 1 { & then once in mode 2 then turn off traction control ., without rolling 10'
I keep it in mode 2. That is another reason I love my YZ more, none of this rider aid bs, just straight raw motorcycle.

I have a 2022 ktm smc r and it power wheelies like nothing once abs is off forget it its all one wheel after that.
How do you cut the abs off? Did you get the abs dongle?
@@CycleCruzajust press and hold the abs button to cut it to both wheels. The dongle is for Supermoto ABS which cuts it to the rear wheel, but leaves it on for the front wheel
So abs and traction control off? Bc I try it with tc off and it’ll only power wheelie in first
why don't you go and test ride bikes? do videos of new bikes, I do love the MT-07, been trying to find one here in Tampa area.
It is tough to get test rides here in Cleveland. I just buy new bikes every year instead. lol I should start my own dealership.
love my map/tc switch for my Athena GET SX1 ecu
LED map switch with maps 1 and 2 (maps can be adjusted or swapped on phone, +/- ignition timing, +/- fueling, +/- rpm tach, etc)
traction control with 10 levels, its crazy how well it works, it really tripped me out. also adjustable on the bar switch from 0-10
lol even has launch control now, so i can dust them suckas at the light 🤣
I have the husky 701 SM and I hate the vibrations. Maybe mine has something wrong? But after riding it for a few hours, my body is still shaking an hour after getting off the bike. It can't be healthy. Can't even use the mirrors when riding fast, they are shaking. I have droven it 5000 kilometers already, a 2024.
Yo CycleCruza, look into the new 2024 Yamaha MT-09 SP. Just picked mine up, it's an absolute beast and the most fun bike I've ever touched. They fixed all of the bad things about the previous gen.
Buy the KTM supermoto ABS dongle. Then the bike remembers the TC settings you has last time. On,off etc. Will also give you Supermoto ABS if you don’t get that in Map 2 for your state/country.
Yep another $100+ to spend. 😔
Your Yamaha 450 wheelies more comfortably because of the rear suspension.
I have a KTM 525 SX and the wheelie comfort window is tiny compared to the wide feeling of the Yamaha

its awesome that you get to do those mods on your KTM, from where i live some mods are not approved.
That sucks to have restriction laws in your country. They do that in California, another reason I love Ohio.
I got a Panigale V4, a Super Duke and a ZX10 and all of them go back to normal with the traction control so you have to manually turn it off, every time, sorry man.
I hate electronic rider aides.
To power wheele you have to do it with hi to mid rpm not from de bottom

Yea., as mentioned previously I've just read. = "Need to figure out how to turn off both traction control & ABS wheelie control" {not easily figured out without looking at the manual for the process
They say to get the ABS dingle and it keeps the setting, so another $100+ to spend.
Dang is the clutch slipping? Or is the rear wheel loosing traction ?
The traction control is not the fault of KTM, the governments force them to automatically turn on the traction control and abs on start. Nothing KTM can do about it

I had to take it back to the dealership for a bad hydraulic clutch twice . I decided to sell it think in getting the KTM super moto
Dang! It is pretty much the same bike as the KTM tho. I just saw where a motovlogger's 2021 KTM 690 SMC R engine blew up at 7k miles.
I suggest changing the oil every 3 thousand miles, instead of 6k.
I have a Husqvarna 701 enduro. I’m 75 now and I’ll probably buy a SM next mostly so I don’t have to deal with a tall seat height.

What's bad is this isn't a "do it all bike" like you claim. It's a back road bike an that's it. A naked 750 or naked 1k is a do it all bike
I think the best bike setup is having two 450s. Ride one while the other needs maintenance 😁
😂 I had thought about that but I got this 690 because I thought about also using it as a touring bike and do the TAT. It is a very versatile bike, however, KTM needs to ditch the rider aides and lower the price. Even Yamaha put traction control on the new YZ450FX and also sadly put softer suspension on it like the WR450F so it is not as good in supermoto trim like my 2019 YZ450FX. I'm glad I never sold my 2019 YZ450FX.

Change the gearing bro!!! Lol.. I think this is my fourth or fifth time telling you.. haha.. your top speed only needs to be about 85mph.. change your gearing to that and it will wheelie like your yamaha (I don't like yamahas lol)..
My YZ450FX does 108 mph top speed on the highway, power wheelies and clutch up in any gear. 13/44 gearing.
@@CycleCruza That's true, but the Yamaha is basically a race bike it has 2/3 the power of your 690 at only 450cc.. so that's a given. What's the top speed on the 690???
@@CycleCruza Be sure you get all new sprockets and chain set.. never skimp on your power source.. might cost you a 100 bucks or 300 hundred if you want to do testing with different gearing, but man, I'm telling you it will be worth it.
The wheelies you going by weight difference I clutch up and it throws me up and I can wheelie just as well as a 450 you just need to know how to ride that bike correct it’s not a true supermoto as I call it but it’s a animal when you bond with it for the petrol tank they have always been in the rear and from 2020 they have reinforced the rear for that reason I’ve looped one and I never got it ignited so take that as you will
Just buy the abs dongle and it will remember your traction control and abs settings and keep them even after turning off the key.
I just googled it, it doesn't say anything about keeping the traction control setting. Also, wil it interfer with my PC6 and fueling dongle. Thanks for the info!
KTM has to be stubborn and use Bosch ECU, which no company is flashing. You can flash just about every other brand of motorcycles except KTM. Woolich software has no solutions. Woolich is now offering Ducati Panigale V4 tuning, but not KTM.
That bike is sick I ain’t gone lie, you did a heck of a job but I’m a 450 supermoto guy. In my opinion nothing beats a 450 supermoto.

If you change the add teeth to your rear sprocket you won't have to clutch up because you will have more torque.

I just saw that video! Dang! I';; never forget when motovlogger 'Riding With Tom' ktm 690 enduro r's engine died. He never bought another KTM again and got Yamahas after that bike.

Doesn't make sense that a 330 lb bike with nearly 80 HP at this point with the fuel in the back & a small front wheel, with the rider leaning back, who's used to wheelies isn't wheelie happy = the computer is 4sure stopping this from happening ...

I got a super moto here in Hawaii 2024 Ktm smc r brand new a the dealer forgot to unlock the bike give me such a headache, also the bike does not running good to a put the intake kit very scary and disappointed with Ktm the fix I put lots mood to look good . But I am like you if start giving me problems i fix and sale . I saw another video in TH-cam the Ktm is not reliable like the American bikes your japonês bikes kind scary horse case losing money and learn my lesson !

If you talk to enough people you will hear horror stories about any brand. I had issues with a few new Japanese bikes that not even their dealerships could figure it out.

Honestly after a friend's recent experience with KTM I'm never buying one. She bought a great condition 790 Duke and she's had it for just over a month. Well just over a week ago she lowsided it when a truck pulled out in front of her and thanks to her frame sliders it was pretty much okay until the exhaust slid into a curb and bent the stock exhaust. Since the bike was pretty much largely undamaged she wants to keep it, but the dealership doesn't have a stock exhaust to replace the bent one and apparently it's a out of stock large wait part which is why I told her to just go aftermarket and you'll have your new exhaust in under 5 business days. Thing is up till now she's never modded any of her bikes. She has always rocked those ugly tails we all get fender eliminator kits for.
Yeah part availability can be an issue with KTM but it can an issue with the smaller motorcycle companies, Ducati as well. Sometimes it is an issue with Japanese bikes too tho, for while there I couldn't get a stator from a WR450F because it was out of stock for a long time.
