Happy Halloween everyone 🎃🦇👻 We hope you enjoyed this spooky (and very creepy) song! We have so much fun doing something a little different every once in a while, so thank you for allowing us to get creative and dress up sometimes! EDIT: We chose to sing "garden of shadows" instead of "garden of magic" because a huge inspiration for our version was the incredible cover by Erutan, and we wanted to maintain that more sinister approach throughout ours as well #sorrynotsorry 😉🖤
The mood of this song is both creepy and morbid, but somehow weirdly comforting? Like children who are depressed and abused, but are stolen away by faeries, away from their pain and sorrow.
I mean that's one interpretation... but you know "Hush now sweet children, It must be this way/ Too weary of life and deceptions" That sounds to me like the singer just poisoned the children and is singing to them as they fall asleep, never to awaken again
Jesse Smith Chills. You gave me chills. But, what I think the song means by “Hush now sweet children, it must be this way, to weary of life and deceptions.” I think the singer is trying to comfort the children and take them away to a better place besides the world we live in, because it’s horrible.
@@jessesmith4167 A valid point, but with the greatest possible respect, I think I'll cling to my slightly less morbid and mildly cheerful interpretation.

Okay. So. I love Hocus Pocus, and i have a theory on the Sanderson Sisters. I believe Sarah is part Siren, which would explain her beauty and her ability to lure (in this case, children) to her with the sound of her voice, which to those who hear it, sounds angelic and soothing, which puts them in a hypnotic trance-like state. I think Mary may be part wolf, judging from her ability to smell the children and the fact she is loyal to Winifred, despite the manner in which she is treated, similar to how a dog would be loyal to it's owner. Winifred, however, is just a witch, and I believe that is why she treats her sisters so cruelly, aside from being the oldest, she is jealous of her sister's gifts.

As the witch flew by the window of a little girls house, she heard soft crying. She slowly turned around and hovered outside the window. She sang and the window open. The girl, a 6 year old with black hair and white eyes crawled out. The girl was captivated by the music and the beautiful woman in front of her. The witch, named Jade, sang until the girl's eyes became heavy and closed in sleep. She scooped her up and brought her to a small garden, filled with plants used in potions and brews. "Follow sweet children, I'll show thee the way, into the calm and the quiet." She whispered as she laid her down and tucked a sprig of rosemary in her hair. "The times come to play, here in my garden of shadows." She sat up as she heard the lyric finished. The other voice was a different child, hidden behind the trees. And another behind the wall. They all padded forwards and sat in a circle around Jade and sang. The times come to play, here in our garden of shadows~" The children faded and the voices disappears. Jade stands and looks at the girl. Her body in a mist and her hair floats near her. You know what you must do, miss." The girl said, bowing her head. Jade smiled and grabbed her broom. "Of course little Raven. Sleep well."

@@chainsawrosenberg7209 it's a song to suck the the life put out of young children so the evil so called witches can stay young I'm am a natural witch and my 3 children has always been safe
I love what you did with this song, I read the comments so I know the song is from Hocus Pocus and is about luring children to inevitable death by one of the witch sisters but when I first heard the song I thought of Death herself collecting young children scared of dying and promising them a better life in the afterlife. It's beautiful, it's creepy and grim and the music video you got there adds onto it perfectly
I don't think this piece is about luring anyone as such, but rather, about someone being there to hold the hands of the morbidly ill/dying (children in THIS case) as they pass over in order to make sure they aren't afraid. Which is a strange question when you think about it. Why would something so powerful as Death (as a personification) care whether or not we/children are afraid to die? On top of that, I think it's also about the sheer inevitability of death. When you think about it in a larger setting, whether it be God, Universal forces (i.e. more rooted in Physics, Biology etc than in Mysticism), ultimately - to a certain extent - our length of time on Earth, in this life, is governed by laws entirely outside of our control, and so to that extent, we are ALL the 'children' of someone/something else. I believe when Edgar Allen Poe wrote this he was writing it from the perspective of an otherworldly force.
@@5h4d0xx6 few bits of information. Poe wrote none of it the person who wrote the starting lyrics for the movie has confirmed that and the extended lyrics where randomly posted on a now non existent website. Since it was originally written for a movie the movies usage has to be seen as the default meaning, your entitled to give it your own meaning of course. Also it doesn't match english as a language during Poe's time.
I'm down for that!! I already wear and adore a somewhat older style of fashion anyways, and I'd look pretty good in a cloak, so I will bring them back into fashion!! :D
Sounds wonderful.... Spooky yet soothing... Adding a male voice (while the movie only featured one single witch) did surprise me, but actually it did give the song just that littlebit extra. The song does have that "luring" effect (after all, Sarah lures the children into their deaths, so the witches can become younger in the process... This verse actually exposes that: "Hush now dear children, It must be this way, to weary of life and deceptions. Rest now my children, gor soon we'll away, Into the calm and the quiet" although it *is* kinda cryptic... Which is of course done on purpose). The only thing I miss now is hypnotized children following you, hahaha ;)
Sitting here watching hocus pocus handing out candy on Halloween. Heard this song and decided to look up if there were other versions on TH-cam. Yours is the best by far!
Absolutely a beautiful version of this song. Especially love have the male voice as part of the harmony and the whistling was a great addition. Only wish would be if the male voice was an octave deeper which I think would of added just a more bit of darkness to the sound.
I may come back to this; for a second there, I thought I felt the presence of one of my original characters. As if it was her singing this song. That happens very seldom, so please, take it as a compliment.
This is exceptional. This version sounds to me like Death speaking to all people and addressing them as children as a comfort at the end. I realize that isn't what the bit in Hocus Pocus was, but this version has evolved the song into something else. Really beautiful. The harmonizing is perfect.
This sends me wicked couple vibes. Like I could wander through a forest at night holding my lover’s hand while we sing this softly and it would be eerily romantic.
It’s Halloween. Therefore, I watch Hocus Pocus and thus search TH-cam for a longer version of this song and find this in the top search results. I then love being alive in the time I’m in and am filled with euphoria. This is my Halloween tradition and the 2nd anniversary of this tradition.

I love the "Hocus Pocus" version, but this is powerful too! The man's voice is just as seductive as the woman's....maybe more so! It would be hard not to follow! The other super-cool version is the mashup of this song with "The Hanging Tree" with Peter Hollins! Cool & creepy!
Unholy Moly. Hocus Pocus is my favorite Halloween movie and I have been watching it on October 30 ever since I was ten years old. This is such a wonderful cover. And you look amazing in your costumes. 😍 So eerie, yet so wonderful. ♥

Thank you so much for your wonderful thoughts as always Kathi 😊🎃

Amazing work, and I hope my players get the same creepy yet enchanting feeling when I use it. I will of course give full credit to you both for the amazing vocals and music.

Recent discovery. What an amazing rendition! I like how you maintain the sinister vibe without trying to oversell the female vocals. Purchasing the single and adding to my holiday playlist+
When I hear this, I always think of a group of people who kidnap kids who are being, abused and take them to a private property far... far away and raising them, helping them overcome the abuse and getting them the mental and physical treatment they need. All while keeping the Fae like land around them, No internet, no stressful news. complete detox from their old reality and introducing them to a new one. one of peace and safety
While I see what your saying that discription is so wrong it's a lullaby made by a witch to lure children so the witch can suck the life force out of them.
You’re definitely not alone! That’s what she sings in the movie! We just followed the more sinister lyrics of the Erutan version that was a big inspiration for ours 🎃

To me this song fits Pan's Labyrinth more than it does Hocus Pocus. My jaw drops whenever you guys harmonise, I forgot how amazing you were. Much love to you both
I know this is from the movie and i love the movie, but this alone is possibly one of the greatest songs to come from live action movies. Its a genuine lullaby, although about kidnapping kids but that's every lullaby. i love the soothing vocals.
Wow! I loved the song from Hocus Pocus but this is even better. It is highly creepy evoking Yeat's Stolen Child as well as every Hansel/Gretel-like tale and also a paean to the many children lost over the centuries to plague, disease and abuse. As sorrowful as it is to lose our children, we can hope that they move on to a place of enchantment. This arrangement is astonishing in its beauty and clarity of tone.
Literally enchanting ;) Lovely melodies, soothing arrangement, and that scenery to match it all... Plus the lovely outfits, and your visual performance... If I had any but, it'd be that I feel it would feel even more mystical and eerie if the dress was longer, moving the rustling leaves as you walk :)
Totally agree about the dress/cape! We actually only ordered cape and got the corset type thing the day of. Everything else was items we already owned because we couldn't budget in outfits for this one considering all the upcoming Christmas music videos and their expenses. But we would've gone with a more dramatic look if we could have! Luckily, people have really liked it anyway so we are very thankful for that :D Thank you so much as always Sim 😍
@@TheHoundTheFox Why, of course :) Even if the dress was short, it combined really nicely with the cape, and it still contributed greatly to the ambience :D And after what you just said, I'm thinking your christmas videos are gonna be a real treat, and I'm gonna be real excited to see them ;D So, please keep the hard work, and I wish for you to enjoy the creative process twice as much as we fans love your content (which is a lot ;D ) Lots of love from Galicia
Beautiful singing! Not even the Nightcore/Daycore channels could make this better! I think you two are wonderful. And also, as my favorite TH-camr says: "Shine bright, 'cause you are a star!"
I just watched the movie today with my parents for a spooky movie night before Halloween. And when I heard this song I right away got nostalgia. Plus this is my first time watching the movie, and listening to this spooky song just made me feel like I've watched the movie before. On the side note I really loved the movie. It does at least give me hope for Halloween even in this time of year. And sorry if my English wasn't that good. I'm not too fluent on English.
Great rendition of this song, beautiful and haunting at the same time. Amazing. 🎃💀 I love the Hocus Pocus movie, I've watched it almost every Halloween sense I was a kid I even have the old VHS tape with the torn cover on it. But I also remember waking up from a nightmare when I was about 3 or 4 and the only thing that made me not be scared anymore was by watching Hocus Pocus; (I'm strange I know😉).
JESUS. I LOVE THIS. It's like a sequel to Hocus Pocus... no, hear me out. Sarah survived, perhaps by magic, and was able to seduce a man (like she had been dying to do). And upon doing so, she slowly corrupts him, and their plan to reach immortality again begins to transpire. Ending with a duet of her strongest spell, "Come Little Children", where we realize just how innocent and poisoned this man is, inspiring tears to come forth from your eyes.
@@shireensutherland3272 You mean like laughter or crying?Idk but I’m guessing it’s crying. Also how come some people on TH-cam have better movie ideas than most of the people who make movies?Idk but you guys are some creative folks!
Now that is a great idea do a sequel where one of the sisters survives & Sarah is that person she considers bringing her sisters back but decides against it. She feels tired of being bullied by Winifred & decides this is her chance to become more powerful than her older sister but she needs help & like you said she seduces a man to do her bidding. She finds the book of dark magic plus Sarah learns that she is not only a witch but a siren as well turns out she is a descendant of a certain siren. I'm just throwing ideas in the ring here.
Wow...I was looking for some inspiration because this song has been done sooo many times but this is so far the most beautiful version I came across. The fragile female voice, the beautiful male voice, Love it!

This is actually beautiful 💜
O-O
yes. this needs to be a story. and you need to start and finsh this!
sounds beautiful when you put it that way
😎😎✝✝
Such beauty and sorrow within thyn words spoken, spell a cast has captured thy heart with such a grasp I must read more for I cannot remove these words from thy thoughts and mind.
Why is this comforting? But also, WOW THEIR VOICES
Really there so freaking wow it's blows my dam mind
@@chainsawrosenberg7209 it's a song to suck the the life put out of young children so the evil so called witches can stay young
I'm am a natural witch and my 3 children has always been safe
I'm now a grandmother' and a witch and would never ever savage her life for this
I would give up my life before hers
It's the music it sucks u in
So they have no issues on their children or grandchildren
Their voices are incredible and that man has EXCELLENT control of his whistle omg
Capes and cloaks are so awesome. I honestly wish they would come back into fashion.
I love drawing and I just have the urge to draw capes and cloaks on all my characters
Make it happen!
Go to a Ren Faire. There are plenty there.
I've got a feeling we are going to end up going back to alot of older ways at some point so why not capes and cloaks too
I'm down for that!!
By far the best version of this Song I have ever heard. Their voices are right on point, Hauntingly beautiful. Exceptionally well done.
Sounds like a beautiful siren with a lover following her voice both beautiful I love the work you do 💜✨
Very lovely, yes. You know the sirens lured men to their deaths though right?
I did, I just didn’t know another description 🤭 hope you’re well 😊
Sitting here watching hocus pocus handing out candy on Halloween. Heard this song and decided to look up if there were other versions on TH-cam. Yours is the best by far!
😍 Thank you so much!!! Happy Halloween (a few days late!)
I recommend looking up peter hollon his is good as well but he mixes the song the hanging tree with it it’s amazing
@@Southern2003 that mashup is really good! this one is the best stand alone though!

Absolutely a beautiful version of this song. Especially love have the male voice as part of the harmony and the whistling was a great addition. Only wish would be if the male voice was an octave deeper which I think would of added just a more bit of darkness to the sound.
Brian Ledford Hauntingly beautiful, weaving between comforting and understated uncertain menace
Harmonizing ...it's beautiful ♥️
Clovet mae look her up she does a dark version lf this 👍
I may come back to this; for a second there, I thought I felt the presence of one of my original characters. As if it was her singing this song. That happens very seldom, so please, take it as a compliment.
We will take it! Thanks so much!
I have to admit, I love the song in Hocus Pocus and the way that you 2 have done it. Awesome!!!!!!
This is exceptional. This version sounds to me like Death speaking to all people and addressing them as children as a comfort at the end. I realize that isn't what the bit in Hocus Pocus was, but this version has evolved the song into something else.
Really beautiful. The harmonizing is perfect.
This is my favorite Halloween song. I get lost in it every time i hear it.
Yay that makes us so happy Arthur! Thank you for the nice comment 😊
Lyrics can be interpreted in many different ways. This is hauntingly beautiful and gives me goosebumps. I’ve played it over and over. 🎃

Just watched Hocus Pocus the other day with the grandkids.... Love your take on that song... I'm always in awe of y'alls work.. 💖
Awww thank you so much as always Kathy! What an awesome Grandma you are 😊❤️
Haven’t heard this song, or watched this movie, but totally fallen in love with this!
Thanks Cathrine! It's a fun dark and goofy movie, you should give it a try! 😊
The Hound + The Fox I will!
Whats the movie called!?
GalaxyWolf1203 it’s Hocus Pocus, brilliant film, and this song is extremely memorable from that movie.

My favorite rendition of Come Little Children.

I love this song. You two did a great job on it. Your outfits are so cool. The blue cape is such a great tuch.

I've heard many versions of this song, and this is by far the best! Love it.
This sends me wicked couple vibes. Like I could wander through a forest at night holding my lover’s hand while we sing this softly and it would be eerily romantic.
This kind of reminds me of the song Once upon a December.
Me too!! It really does a lot.

I think you mean Peeta hollins
If u really listen it is telling u to give up ur children
You are right about Peter Hollens
Unholy Moly. Hocus Pocus is my favorite Halloween movie and I have been watching it on October 30 ever since I was ten years old. This is such a wonderful cover. And you look amazing in your costumes. 😍 So eerie, yet so wonderful. ♥
Aw what an awesome tradition! We're that way with Nightmare Before Christmas, our kiddo (who turns 4 on Nov. 1st) is just like us, a total creep at heart, and has loved all things creepy and spooky since he was old enough to watch them lol. Thank you so much for your wonderful thoughts as always Kathi 😊🎃
As soon as I heard this version I knew I needed to use it in my Curse of Strahd campaign for a pair of vampires luring children out of a village. Amazing work, and I hope my players get the same creepy yet enchanting feeling when I use it. I will of course give full credit to you both for the amazing vocals and music.
You two are beyond awesome!! This was beautiful and spooky at the same time !! Love the outfits ...you two are still my favorite artists of all time !!
Well jeepers Jennifer 😢That was a really sweet thing to say and you made our day ❤️
The most ✨magical✨ version of this song I’ve ever heard. Enchanting.
We love that interpretation
You write the book and i will read it!
While I see what your saying that discription is so wrong it's a lullaby made by a witch to lure children so the witch can suck the life force out of them.

Am I the only one who sings "garden of magic"
You’re definitely not alone! That’s what she sings in the movie! We just followed the more sinister lyrics of the Erutan version that was a big inspiration for ours 🎃
I do too.

Mama Bear I actually just sang this in the shower! But I never knew the rest of the words!
It actually really really bugs me when people sing shadows.
Love the whistling, it makes it even more beautiful!
This version is so stunning and mysterious I love it!!!! Great voices you two!!!! Hocus pocus is my favorite Halloween film and this is just breathtaking!❤️❤️😍😍

I'm absolutely obsessed with your version of this song. I keep listening to it on repeat and haven't gotten tired of listening yet. Your version is just so bittersweet and gently haunting. ♥

Taking a second to appreciate the closing couple of seconds of this video. I love the visual at the very end. It’s so creepy. It seems they are departing at a distance....then wham, the blue robe is upon you!
both voices, faces and the interpretation a big banquet for all senses!
This is literally my favourite song ever this remake is incredible it’s best type I’ve heard of it xx
This is the best version of the song, beautifully sung.
I love this :) Hocus Pocus is one favorite movie for Halloween🧡
Literally enchanting ;)
Lovely melodies, soothing arrangement, and that scenery to match it all...
@@TheHoundTheFox Why, of course :) Even if the dress was short, it combined really nicely with the cape, and it still contributed greatly to the ambience :D
And after what you just said, I'm thinking your christmas videos are gonna be a real treat, and I'm gonna be real excited to see them ;D
So, please keep the hard work, and I wish for you to enjoy the creative process twice as much as we fans love your content (which is a lot ;D )

And also, as my favorite TH-camr says: "Shine bright, 'cause you are a star!"
So beautiful and haunting. Both singers have amazing voices. Ty for sharing your talent
Such a haunting voice. Beautiful. Halloween can't come soon enough because my fellow witches... WE FLY!!
Even after all these years, still loving the movie and still loving this song. Beautiful cover you two.
Great rendition of this song, beautiful and haunting at the same time. Amazing. 🎃💀
I love the Hocus Pocus movie, I've watched it almost every Halloween sense I was a kid I even have the old VHS tape with the torn cover on it.
An intriguing idea, I can get behind that.
YASSSS THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN
I was tearing up during this song and when I read this comment.
Creepy. Sad. Melodic. Perfect. Great job!
I would have been lulled into this beautiful lullabye in no time
