As a native Texan, as soon as I saw you planned to go through Nuevo Laredo, and enter into Laredo, I was concerned. That is one of the most intense border crossings on our Texas/Mexico border. If you had gone through Matamoros, Mexico/Brownsville, TX, your experience would have been much better. Sorry that happened to you. You just happened to pick a very dangerous part of Mexico on your way here. I just found your channel tonight and I love your positive attitude.

This "always feeling under the pressure of time" really resonates with me. When I was 19, and travelled to Europe alone, I bought an old VW van in Amsterdam, driving it as far as Athens and the isle of Crete, and always I felt the urge to move on after only a few days in one place. Along the way I met countless travelers who would find a place they liked, and just settle in there, like the German man in this video. I thought these urges would die down as time went on, but they haven't. I suppose the nomadic soul craves movement, and the discovery of new people and places. Yet in that movement there are moments of pure bliss...

I had a similar experience going to Canada from America at international falls on a fishing trip crossing into Canada and there even worse than the us. So besides the search and alll the bs one guy in our group had pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor in Wisconsin a couple months prior and Canada knew that and would not let him in. we crossed at three in the morning Canada said there was a small possibility they would let our friend in but they have to wait till nine in the morning. The supervisor came in and then it would be up to his discretion whether my friend get in or not. So to and our group stayed back in international Falls in one car, and the rest of us moved onto our fishing destinations. Upon speaking to a supervisor at 9 AM the supervisor decided that they would let my friend across the border to go fishing but he had to pay a $250 fine so he paid the fine, and he asked the supervisor what would happen in the future and the supervisor indicated that if he came back to Canada in the next five years the same process could happen again, and a different supervisor could reject him altogether. So Canada isn’t any better than US in fact are much worse, but somehow they have this reputation that they don’t deserve. Every time we caught crossed into the United States they just seem to be worried about once we told them we were fishing. How many fish did you have? How big were they? What kind of fish do you have and a couple of times we got our coolers surged, and one time one of our grove got busted and we had a pathfinder. I’d be interested to know what you think about this.

As an American, it is shocking how difficult it is to travel home after visiting abroad. Extra questions and extra searches....and that is flying back from Europe with a US passort. After jumping around Europe and Central America with such little fuss, I always forget to give myself extra, extra time when returning home...and I'm a white, middle age woman. Cant even image the nightmare it is for others. Once you begin to emerse yourself as you travel north, I hope you find it well worth that unpleasant and scary experience. P.S. I love the Texas hill country. New Mexico IS the land of enchantment; Utah is not to missed. It would not be Expedition Wild without time in Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. I'm from Laredo and the border crossing is no joke. It's not surprising the scrutiny that they put you under. That particular crossing is responsible for the seizure of millions of dollars worth of narcotics, cash and cash not to mention people on a daily basis. The Interstate 35 to Interstate 10 corridor is one of the most heavily used smuggling routes for both drugs and humans. The Border Patrol checkpoint that you subsequently drove through when leaving Laredo is also a hotspot for seizures. Laredo is a friendly place as is Texas but we just happen to live in a very dangerous area. Laredo is the largest inland port in the country and is the crossing point for billions in cargo from trucks to trains traveling north and south. The entire stretch of border here is frequently being infiltrated by the cartels. I'm glad you made the crossing through Tamaulipas safe. I've traveled through there and the feeling is not pleasant.

they have to search everyone including U.S citizens NOBODY CAN BE TRUSTED... You can’t just cross the border of a country and expect to not get checked... It's like an airport process, everyone needs to be checked before entering a plane so that criminals cannot make it through and enter a plane with innocent people. And it's extremely hard to detect a criminal who knows how to fit into society.
the borders should be open to people coming in legally and going through a process legally. Sadly illegals and gangs are coming through we cannot trust everyone... The border agents have to be extremely careful and thoroughly search everyone to due to sex trafficking, illegal guns coming through, and illegal drugs entering. The border agents are not at fault they are told to allow people with legal papers to come through easily but they have to search first... I can’t go to a European country and live there without a visa... That is illegal. Sadly, she got handcuffed but you have to understand that we have a crisis at the border. How scary, shocking, and traumatic! Sadly the USA government, primarily security departments such as Homeland Security, Border Patrol, and ICE, can be defensive, unsmiling, unfriendly, and ultimately miserable representatives of the USA government to foreigners, and even to the government's own citizens. No question, vloggers who travel internationally are going to be subject to more scrutiny, but there are ways to protect yourself from border hassles: in the case of the USA, getting a "trusted traveler" designation (such as "Global Entry") means that at the airport you are through any customs check in about 20 seconds, similar to TSA checks. Canadians and Mexican citizens may also be included in some of these designations.

I am a US citizen since birth. I was a trucker for a few years and after re-entering the USA near Detroit I and my driving partner were detained for 24 hours. We stayed in the truck cab and sleeper, but we were not allowed to leave.
And they sent us through an x-ray machine that x-rayed the entire truck with us in it. I don't recall any reason given for doing so. The other guy in the truck was the truck owner and while we were waiting to go through the customs line he told me not to joke around with the customs guy and the customs guy heard that. I think he wanted to know why he said that and it set off some flags in his mind. The Canadian customs people are very nice, the opposite of the US customs agents.

I am so happy that you are safe and sorry to hear that you experienced this bad experience.
Thank God that you are not from the middle east 🙏🏻 otherwise, it would've even been worse.
I'm Iraqi/British and everytime I travel to the States to visit family I get stopped and asked so many questions only because I was born in Iraq and my name is Ahmed..
When are we all gonna live in harmony and peace?! I think never.
Again, I'm quite gland that you are safe and thanks for sharing this with us.
Edit: I've read some of the comments and got annoyed how people compare things in different countries and some got a bit too political and keep justifying the use of unnecessary force. (I really hate politics and don't respect almost all politicians).
All what I want is innocent civilians wherever they come from or travel to, treated with respect.
Besides, any country has all rights to keep their boarders safe and I respect them for that ✌
I've seen enough violence when I was in Iraq (I was born during the Iraqi-Iranian war and lived there to witness the American invasion of Iraq).
That's why I wish that we all live in peace.

      2. You need an international driving License and insurance if you want to drive in the respective country .
