    I am 72 years old and want to thank you for taking me with you and Vilk through the desert. I have never been out west and this was an exciting experience for me, too! The diner with all the memorabilia!! Incredible! Love the mailbox and frog display out there in the middle of nowhere. That is some giant motorhome you are going to be driving. Love, love that beautiful clear water at the end. Get a gold pan to try your luck in the waters out west there. Safe travels to you and Vilk.

      When I was a 22 year old woman I traveled solo through the US and Canada alone. A 2 wheel drive truck with a camper shell, and a rifle. No cell phones back then. Only maps. Just maps. No way to call for help, no satellite. I lost what few pictures I took with a camera in a brush fire in the 90’s. I have snapshots of memories in my head. Since then I’ve done many backcountry road trips but never in such a rig $$ as this. I leaned from all my mistakes, with no one watching, and every mistake taught me a new lesson that I carried forward. I’ve walked out through blizzards and heat, and stopped others to help me with my tow strap and always carry what will sustain me if help is days away. Mostly I had good sense and avoided issues, but the mistakes I made I was lucky and only paid with inconveniences. Maps and doing things without an audience seem foreign now, But I do enjoy theses vids so much and continue to adventure with the basics in the backcountry, with the added technology to a $ point, and on the sea and land. Love gps, haha. But it’s meant death for more than a few as the app told them they could, when they never should have.

      I can so relate to your Mojave trekking as my friends would drive out into the back country of the Mojave (mostly Nevada) and then ride dirt bikes all over looking for hot springs, cold springs, ghost towns, old mines and if we found gas we would extend our explorations quite a bit further. It was much faster exploring on the bikes and quads than doing the hokey pokey in the vehicles. Good to see you out there challenging your fears.
      It's what makes us stronger.

I love traveling but I couldn’t see myself living anywhere else in the world. It definitely helps that if I hate the climate I’m in, the country is so big that I can just move to a differently state and be in a completely different climate that is more suitable to my desires

    The rail line in the early part of the video was Union Pacific's (ex Southern Pacific) notorious Cima Subdivision from Barstow and Yermo to Las Vegas. About 11.5 miles past the Mojave Mailbox the trail would have crossed the Kelso-Cima Road and the tracks. Just north of that crossing is the location of a massive derailment that occurred earlier this year when a portion of a far-too-long train began rolling uncontrollably down from Cima Hill. Fortunately the crew jumped when they realized control was lost - the two locomotives and about 7,000 feet of loaded ore cars ended up hitting the curve north of the crossing at over 120 mph, converting the train into scrap metal in a matter of seconds.

    Great adventure, brave gal. Be careful out there, the landscape is rugged. Many years ago a German family of four perished around the area where you were. But they had no experience and drove out in a rental van (yes, a dodge caravan). The van ended up with 3 flat tires and they were left stranded in the middle of nowhere.

    When you fear you may flip, turn in towards the dip.
    Turning into the direction of whichever corner of the vehicle is lowest provides extra tire contact in that direction, and more stability against a rollover. That only gets really scary if there happens to be a cliff on that side of the vehicle...which, as you'd expect, is pretty common.

I got to spend 3 months in Georgia exploring the state parks and lakes in my off time. driving from Atlanta to Houston was an absolutely mind melting experience. I've been Houston about a month, and I finally had time to visit the Alamo for the first time today. which is a three-and-a-half-hour drive with traffic from Houston and I was super excited. I'm heading from Houston to Phenix in around 2 weeks. I can't wait. Thank you so much for your inspiration. Happy travels my friend. "take only memories leave only footprints"

      But you will never make $190,000 a year that she does and the reason she is back after giving a heart wrenching video a few months ago as if she was not returning. What did you think about her leaving her new dog in the states with someone while she visited relatives back in Europe? German Shepherds are not typical dogs, they are like family.

    Eva, I've been watching all of your videos and have been enjoying them immensely. As someone who grew up on a ranch in the Arizona desert since the late 60s, I see you do things that worry the crap out of me. When everything goes well, the desert can be an amazing rewarding place to explore, but if one little thing goes wrong, it can turn deadly quickly! I pray for your safety in your travels and I hope that you learn through osmosis, the misfortune of others, rather than learning them the hard way on your own. I wish we had the ability to meet sometime. I feel that I could teach you so much that would be beneficial to you. God bless and Happy Trails.

    • @MuhammadIamhardBrucelee
      @MuhammadIamhardBrucelee ปีที่แล้ว

      She has little desert survival skills and her vehicle is not a very reliable one. And she is not aware of the dangers of rattlesnakes, scorpions and tarantulas. If she gets tagged by a diamondback in the middle of the desert and without help, she is pretty screwed.
      Praying for her safety isn’t going to do anything. It’s not like God is on call because you prayed for her and he is keeping an eye out for Eva in the middle of the Mojave.
      You keep doing stupid things and pretty soon you are going to win stupid prizes like the Darwin Award.
      She really doesn’t have any survival skills and as much as she likes to project herself as an adventurer, she will call AAA if she gets a flat or wait for some guy passing through to change it for her.
      She is used to going on escorted influencer tours in Middle Eastern dictatorships where Ahmed and Mohammed will cater to all the needs of the white skinned influencers to whitewash their regime.

    This young lady is just such a charmer. It's always fun to follow her on her adventures. She has always been upbeat even when she was struggling. We could always use more people like her in the USA. Perhaps one day she will settles into some little homestead in Montana. I've been living on a beautiful remote rural homestead in Alaska for 15 years. I don't know of a single Western girl in a similar situation in this region.
      The guys here marry young girls from SE Asia and Eastern Europe mostly, and immigrate them. All of us homeschool our kids and have traditional female roles.
      It isn't something Western girls actually aspire to. The internet fame, like with this girl, sure. But actually living the homestead life, no.

    • @fjdarling
      @fjdarling ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@amylee6038 It's be my observation that most men want traditional women to create a family with. Hence, Asians and Eastern Europeans. American women think they can have an exciting life in their youth and settle down later on. I believe the concept of feminism has been most destructive to the psychology of western women. Miss Eva Zu Beck will find that as she ages she will find it nearly impossible to settle down in a committed relationship or even be able to date men she will feel worthy of. It's only the youthful thoughtful, hard working women with low body count that a man will commit to.
      If you have a man and children and can keep their love and respect, then you've won life's lottery. Every body else, (me included) is just a flash in the pan.
      Thanks for your thoughts. In my opinion, there is wisdom in your words.

    An adventure means going out and doing your own thing with minimal reliance upon technology. There’s something to be said for having fun though on the flip side, certain costs like wear and tear and mechanical breakdowns are unavoidable. Days in the desert shows what you get out of nature can make life more fulfilling and enjoyable! Its has an effect upon you and Vilk and that’s like the chapters of a book in which the best is yet to come. Take care Eva and remain blessed! 😊

    Eva I'm sooo happy your back traveling and yea videos ❤️😁 ! Be careful walking barefoot in desert , you can easily step on scorpion 🦂 or venomous 🐍 snakes , same for Vilk watch where he's walking . My bbf beautiful dog 🐕 was bit by rattle snake 🐍 even with ER care , she lost him 💔 within 12hrs , it was horrible💔😢. You are far from help , travel smart . Xoxo 😘

      I didn't want to like this comment because its sad. I was waiting for someone to say these things. I am so very sorry about the sweet Dog passing away. Rattlesnakes and scorpions in the Desert are like the Grizzlies, wolves and Mtn lions of the NW.

    You have probably filmed a few videos by now. But if your still active driving around, may I suggest going back to the Seattle area and heading about 2-2.5 hours out into the mountains and checking out the town of Leavenworth WA. The mountains are beautiful and the town is pretty cool. Just do it before the end of September before the cold and snow comes.

    Love your stuff Eva. Very talented! The reason your distances are because of many factors but the main ones are, the tachometer from the factory is set for the original tire size. Even if the tire changes by 5mm, your gauge will be off. The other is, some makers actually have different ways of calibrating the speed gauge. Example, most Toyotas are off by 4km/h. So it’s a good idea to use a GPS gauge for those kinds of trips.

    All my driving growing up was done without google Maps. Learning to navigate, understanding NSEW and general navigation by landmarks was how things were done.
    After college I drove from Texas to Oxnard California without a map (or google). I ended up 10 miles from my destination on my own.

    Great to see you back and creating content! Got a challenge for you: try a trip like this WITHOUT planning it using modern technology Google or any digital resource - INSTEAD, plan it and follow it using only a topographic map and a compass!
    This is fast becoming a lost art in the digital age. You’re young enough you may not even really know what a topo map is or how to use it; but I challenge you to learn! When/IF digital fails, a old school topo map and a compass will ALWAYS work.
    Looking forward to your next adventure!👊❤️

    Good to see you back and really enjoy watching these kind of awesome desert experience! Keep up the good work :-) By the way, the reason why your GPS doesn't quite match the Landrover's odometer is probably due to the size of the tires. Due to the size you get a counter deviation so you cannot drive exactly on the GPS. I thought it might be good to know for any next desert experience. Safe travels!

    • @davidmacy411
      @davidmacy411 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do they base the GPS on a default standard car size tire, assuming its the most common?

    • @scotcoon1186
      @scotcoon1186 ปีที่แล้ว

      @davidmacy411 the speedometer and odometer are set using calculations and transmission output speed.
      Gps calculates based on location.
