Tesla Model 3’s Battery Drain at the Airport with Sentry Mode? Not What I Expected!

  • I left my Tesla Model 3 at the airport for 4 1/2 days with Sentry Mode turned on to see how much battery drain I would experience. I started out with 83% on Monday morning and ending my experiment on Friday with 55%. I lost 28% over 4 1/2 days. This works out to 7-9% each day, so that means you can leave your car for a week trip and expect to lose 50-63%.

I actually think it's ridiculous how much power it uses. surveillance camera such as Eufy has a small battery and can handle up to half a year of video surveillance, between charges.

The Sentry mode consumes 1% every 3,5-4 hours. So for a day it takes about 6%. For 5 days, this means about 30%. I didn’t even watched the video before writing the message.

I also have about 5% per day when Sentry mode is on. Checking the app adds to it, obviously. It is massively improved efficiency on this over the ladt two years of OTAs

Great video. How many sentry mode events did it capture?

    Great test.

Thank you for the information. I’m actually surprised that’s how much sentry draws. Hopefully they can find a way to improve the efficiency, but I wonder if it’s because all of the cameras are active at all times.
