To the quote, “There are some people who think you have to hate them in order to shoot them. I don’t think you do.” This is the mark of a moral person, because you are not shooting because of anger, you are shooting because of need and duty.
In line of duty I had to make a kill/don’t kill decision on a shipmate that the night before had been my partner. He had forgotten what was going on and I had to stop him. Fortunately a scream was enough.
I knew a man that was shot as a kindness, as his legs were shot off and he was laying with his stumps in a puddle of burning fuel. He survived and 27 years later showed me the scar on the side of his head.

Fact of the matter is, due in large part to the failure of US Marines, we lost the war in Iraq and then we ran from the war in Afghanistan. Both these defeats were accomplished primarily on King James Mattis' watch. Bottom line: Talk is cheap. If you can't deliver, do us all a solid and STFU! I mean seriously, who does this dude think he is....a reincarnated George Patton?

That would probably be a good deal for America. However, I believe Mattis speaking out about how bad Trump was, and is, would probably hurt him on the Republican side. Mattis believes Trump is incompetent and a danger to America - and he is. As a Marine I love Mattis. The right hates Mattis because he speaks out against Trump.

I can tell you some funny Marine stories...
In my Senior year in college.... some guy comes from some company to recruit some grads for the company he works for. I IMMEDIATELY recognize his haircut! Me being the rebellious smart-ass, from the back of the room when he asks if "There are any more questions?" Me... from the back of the room.... "Where did you get that haircut?" {snickers and subdued laughter all around from the ass-lickers hoping to get a job with his dipshit outfit,...I had a dozen far better offers)
He ; "I was in the Marine Corps for 25 years, retired as a Lt. Colonel!"
    Me : "Just curious"
He : "Are you signed up for the interview list tomorrow?"
    Me : "Yes"
    He : "I'LL REMEMBER YOU!"
    Next day during the interview......
He : We NEVER get to interview any Geophysicists with you qualifications. What kind of work are you interested in doing?"
Me : "I just wanted to know ' Who cut your man?'"
    He : "You're a little smart-ass, aren't you?!"
Me : "I was trained by the worst of them! I spent 17 years in the Marines."
He : (looking at me cross-eyed!! "How OLD ARE YOU?!?!"
Me : "21. My old man was a psychotic Marine that fought on both Iwo Jima and ended up in Okinawa to end that battle then onto Japan and finally Korea. He raised all his kids with the motto, 'If the Marines were good enough for me...they're good enough for my kids!'....And after 17 years of growing up under HIS roof, when I graduated high school....I GOT THE HELL OUT OF HIS HOUSE!!"
He : "You don't need a degree, you have enough college, you can come to work for us tomorrow."
