I'll meekly admit that I used to cut my bottom lashes, especially at the outside corners, because they were so long and would get caught on my upper lashes when I wore mascara or would start to curl in such a way that they would begin poking into my eye. However, I NEVER cut that close to the lid and would only cut them to just where they started curling over

I've been called a clown for having colorful eye makeup before, but I've also gotten wonderful, sudden comments from people in the best most flattering ways. I choose to believe the young man in target giving me double look and saying wow, you're eyes are cool. Rather than the itch screaming at me because she took a left turn from a middle lane and almost caused an accident.
@@sonjawilliams989 Thank you. I'm not that tough, I can't say it didn't hurt when she screamed at me "go home with your clown ass make up" but I tried to hold on to the other comments I've gotten. Like one time a girl (maybe 12) in a tjmaxx came up to me with the glamlite Hershey's palette that was purples and I though she was trying to like, ask me about it, so I told her I hadn't used their formulas but they're supposed to be good and have a pretty good track record, what look was she trying to achieve. And she said "no, you have a lot of purple on I thought you'd like them because they're purple too." Like she was trying to offer me up the palette cause she saw I could work with the purples. I just thanked her so much for being so nice and that she should try the palette it wasn't too big and she could make some pretty purple looks to go with her eyes (which we're a gorgeous light brown and purple would have go brought them out so nice.) I guess I just like to hold on to those positive moments... They're fewer between. But when someone compliments you it can make your whole day. I hope your strong enough to ignore the nasty ones out there. 💜
As an artist and designer, it really tickles me how amazed the average person is by blending colors. It seems so mundane to me, it's like someone gasping at you opening your browser. I haven't even shown you the good part yet lol

OOF the whole "elegance" thing is so "i want to be upper class and better than you trashy lower girls who try too hard," it says more about her own self worth than others. Also that girl making custom colors for her makeup was so cool! We did that sort of thing in my art classes learning color theory, except we were mixing paint, haha :)

There can definitely be reasons for it! I have extremely long and thick eyelashes, which you would think would be 'amazing' - but too much of a good thing often isn't that great. Since they're so long and unruly, I literally have to brush them every morning to try and stop them from poking my own eyeballs. They can also grow abnormally, so I have had to pluck quite a few eyelashes from growing in places they shouldn't (ie, literally in the waterline). I certainly don't even have it as bad as some others. Some people can have eyelashes so long they literally fall over from their own weight, and its often best for them to have their eyelashes trimmed (though the amount of horrible comments they get from strangers is heartbreaking, especially because they're 'throwing away' something that others are unreasonably jealous about). So, trimming your eyelashes for good and healthy reasons exist. However, despite there being reasons for it happening sometimes, seeing someone remove ALL of their eyelashes purposefully? Or close to it? Just because they don't like the look of it? That's definitely sad and could cause literal health complications, and they really need some help.
my roommate randomly cut her eyelashes cause they were hitting her glasses. It infuriated me as someone with no eyelashes cause obviously !!! Imagine having gorgeous eyelashes and cutting them short!! But to be fair, if theyre hitting her glasses it might be annoying.

I completely agree! Personally, I love using makeup as self expression to try various styles. Maybe one day I’ll try an elegant look so I’ll try those techniques. Then the next day, I’ll go for baddie, goth, glam, etc. Makeup is supposed to be fun and creative!

I work in a law office and I like to wear all the colors of the rainbow. A bunch of my palettes came from my boss. I wear them to work. Telling people not to wear colors is always obnoxious.

The first bit..about elegance. I look at it like beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Having said that, I was a teenager in the 1970's and eye shadow choices were not what they are today. I will be 60 this summer and take every opportunity to wear fun shades, colors and textures. Whether subtle or in your face wow - life is too short to limit one's beauty potential. god that first lady really made my blood boil. I'm sick to death of these people telling others they're doing their makeup or literally anything wrong based ENTIRELY on that INDIVIDUAL's PERSONAL preference for their OWN style and what THEY think suits THEM and THEM alone. As a person who has naturally very small thin lips (which I'm really self conscious of!), I overdraw the shit out of them and in the way a lot of tiktok's would have me believe is wrong (overdrawing both lips, and overdrawing the sides.) and I reshape them into what I find is more flattering for my face .. and who would have thought! I feel it flatters my face with the size of my features being more balanced, and it gives me more confidence in the way I look. and the fact there are people in the world who would try to take that feeling from anyone because that specific thing doesn't work for *them* is very very sad. theres a huge difference between simply not liking something, and putting yourself on a pedestal above others who partake in that thing you don't like.

My son has alopecia universalis. He just turned ten last Friday, and it started when he was three. He has no hair anywhere, including eyebrows and eyelashes. It's crazy how much function those two things have that you never notice until you don't have them. He is constantly getting stuff in his eyes, so we have to have eye rinse and eyedrops with us at all times. The sun glares off his browbone and makes seeing on sunny days even harder for him, and rain or water in the shower funnels directly into his eyes instead of being partially diverted. Personally, I would never purposely remove my eyelashes...
I usually get so many kind comments when I do my make up. Usually they start by asking if I’m going to a rave or festival 😂😂 and then they exclaim how random it is to have such cool eyeliner and glitter just cuz lol. They may not like it for them, but they sure are always kind to me about choosing to love it.
Fun fact: I also used to cut my lashes all the time in middle school because they were too long and I thought they made me look too feminine. They grew back to their normal length within days

I feel like elegance is less a particular look and more an attitude/vibe.
I've been called a clown for having colorful eye makeup before, but I've also gotten wonderful, sudden comments from people in the best most flattering ways. I choose to believe the young man in target giving me double look and saying wow, you're eyes are cool. Rather than the itch screaming at me because she took a left turn from a middle lane and almost caused an accident.

Like one time a girl (maybe 12) in a tjmaxx came up to me with the glamlite Hershey's palette that was purples and I though she was trying to like, ask me about it, so I told her I hadn't used their formulas but they're supposed to be good and have a pretty good track record, what look was she trying to achieve. And she said "no, you have a lot of purple on I thought you'd like them because they're purple too." Like she was trying to offer me up the palette cause she saw I could work with the purples. I just thanked her so much for being so nice and that she should try the palette it wasn't too big and she could make some pretty purple looks to go with her eyes (which we're a gorgeous light brown and purple would have go brought them out so nice.) I guess I just like to hold on to those positive moments... They're fewer between. But when someone compliments you it can make your whole day. I hope your strong enough to ignore the nasty ones out there. 💜
As an artist and designer, it really tickles me how amazed the average person is by blending colors. It seems so mundane to me, it's like someone gasping at you opening your browser. I haven't even shown you the good part yet lol

There can definitely be reasons for it! I have extremely long and thick eyelashes, which you would think would be 'amazing' - but too much of a good thing often isn't that great. Since they're so long and unruly, I literally have to brush them every morning to try and stop them from poking my own eyeballs. They can also grow abnormally, so I have had to pluck quite a few eyelashes from growing in places they shouldn't (ie, literally in the waterline).
I certainly don't even have it as bad as some others. Some people can have eyelashes so long they literally fall over from their own weight, and its often best for them to have their eyelashes trimmed (though the amount of horrible comments they get from strangers is heartbreaking, especially because they're 'throwing away' something that others are unreasonably jealous about). So, trimming your eyelashes for good and healthy reasons exist.
However, despite there being reasons for it happening sometimes, seeing someone remove ALL of their eyelashes purposefully? Or close to it? Just because they don't like the look of it? That's definitely sad and could cause literal health complications, and they really need some help.
It's not a quest, I can confirm I am a lash cutter😫they just always make my undereyes look dark and they grow back really quick ever had a problem😌
my roommate randomly cut her eyelashes cause they were hitting her glasses. It infuriated me as someone with no eyelashes cause obviously !!! Imagine having gorgeous eyelashes and cutting them short!! But to be fair, if theyre hitting her glasses it might be annoying.

I completely agree! Personally, I love using makeup as self expression to try various styles. Maybe one day I’ll try an elegant look so I’ll try those techniques. Then the next day, I’ll go for baddie, goth, glam, etc. Makeup is supposed to be fun and creative!

I work in a law office and I like to wear all the colors of the rainbow. A bunch of my palettes came from my boss. I wear them to work. Telling people not to wear colors is always obnoxious.

The first bit..about elegance. I look at it like beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Having said that, I was a teenager in the 1970's and eye shadow choices were not what they are today. I will be 60 this summer and take every opportunity to wear fun shades, colors and textures. Whether subtle or in your face wow - life is too short to limit one's beauty potential. god that first lady really made my blood boil. I'm sick to death of these people telling others they're doing their makeup or literally anything wrong based ENTIRELY on that INDIVIDUAL's PERSONAL preference for their OWN style and what THEY think suits THEM and THEM alone. As a person who has naturally very small thin lips (which I'm really self conscious of!), I overdraw the shit out of them and in the way a lot of tiktok's would have me believe is wrong (overdrawing both lips, and overdrawing the sides.) and I reshape them into what I find is more flattering for my face .. and who would have thought! I feel it flatters my face with the size of my features being more balanced, and it gives me more confidence in the way I look. and the fact there are people in the world who would try to take that feeling from anyone because that specific thing doesn't work for *them* is very very sad. theres a huge difference between simply not liking something, and putting yourself on a pedestal above others who partake in that thing you don't like.

My son has alopecia universalis. He just turned ten last Friday, and it started when he was three. He has no hair anywhere, including eyebrows and eyelashes. It's crazy how much function those two things have that you never notice until you don't have them. He is constantly getting stuff in his eyes, so we have to have eye rinse and eyedrops with us at all times. The sun glares off his browbone and makes seeing on sunny days even harder for him, and rain or water in the shower funnels directly into his eyes instead of being partially diverted. Personally, I would never purposely remove my eyelashes...
I usually get so many kind comments when I do my make up.
Usually they start by asking if I’m going to a rave or festival 😂😂 and then they exclaim how random it is to have such cool eyeliner and glitter just cuz lol.
They may not like it for them, but they sure are always kind to me about choosing to love it.
Fun fact: I also used to cut my lashes all the time in middle school because they were too long and I thought they made me look too feminine. They grew back to their normal length within days
