Enjoyed the vid, Dave. I see you give it an 'interesting' (grade B or C) but it's not your fave. Is there a reason you chose bourbon over rye, other than the obvious preference for corn vs rye dominance? If I were to order a boulevardier, would I have to specify to get the historical rye version these days? Completely anecdotal observation but it seems bourbon is chosen more for this concoction. Thoughts?
Thanks Bill, The reason I chose the bourbon came down to two things. The first was that most of the recipes I looked at called for bourbon, and I had the bourbon on the shelf and I was trying to keep my costs down.. I was debating picking up some Bullet Rye Whiskey to try this as well because the rye would make it sweeter. You might have to specify rye vs bourbon again possible depending on where you are and if the individual behind the bat knows how to make this. I think that more people may have gotten on to the bottled in Bond and cask strength band wagon. And that may be creating some of the Drive towards it. I have also noticed that there seems to be a trend towards cocktails that are not as sweet as well. If there is anything you would li9ke me to make please let me know.
Barrel aged Boulevardier - one of my favourites!
Definitely. I agree.
Great video as always, I enjoy the variety of drinks and their background stories. Cannot wait to see your next one
Thank you. I think you will definitely like the next one.
This is an absolute favourite!! I am so glad to see your video. I love seeing this cocktail, and variations, made!!
Thank you very much.
It is a good cocktail. It is like a Sunday...enjoy, it's mellow, takes its place, don't abuse, never falter.
Absolutely. I agree
Sad bartender, bartender is sad... 😪
Great job Dave. Always enjoy these.
Thanks!! and yes. I am very sad :(
I really like this cocktail. I use a higher proof bourbon 102-105 to help balance out the bitterness and sweetness of Campari and sweet vermouth.
I agree, it is really good.
This is an interesting cocktail. I am curious to know what everybody thinks of this one? Do you like it? Yes, No?
❤❤❤
Thank you.
