He didnt think he would shoot. And blasts are pretty quick. Look at what happened to gohan when he tried to step in front of a cell beam aimed for Vegeta, he got his arm blown off.
Goku was in his base form while Vegeta was SSJ and nearly max power. He DID try to stop the second blast Vegeta shot directly at him but Goku was overpowered and had to get out of the way of the blast.

Actually it was revealed that Vegeta was slightly stronger than Goku while they both were a Super Saiyan 2, but if Goku is given the chance to Goku Super Saiyan 3 he will win. Although it was officially stated that the transformation alone took half his ki and we know that Goku didn't Master Super Saiyan 3 until super after he trained with Whis ( is training with Whis led to him being able to transform into Super Saiyan 3 with no Ki consumption but he still couldn't maintain it for long because of the sheer amount of Ki and stamina it took to maintain the form) this still means that Goku's remaining Super Saiyan 3 power with be twice as strong as Vegeta
Okay well I should have said implied instead of revealed. Because there's no real Solid Source I can provide but I can go off of how Gohan's initial Super Saiyan 2 translation work in comparison to Vegeta's after he gave to the wizard. When Gohan initially transform his power output was exceptionally strong due to his rage. We do know that when Vegeta initially transforms into Super Saiyan 2 he still weaker than Goku Ssj 2. The wizard's magic ( I say his spell the Wizards name correctly) allowed him to draw out his full potential in Super Saiyan 2. Given that Vegeta's anger was extremely high due to always being overshadowed by Goku I think it's safe to assume that his anger gave him a slight boost in power to where he was able to be slightly stronger than Goku though not significant enough to be able to beat Goku easily
You forget goku's been the main character and the show started when hevwas a 5 year old right? Vegeta didn't come in until 20 years into the show as a super villian who's blown up planets and wants to destroy earth. People act like vegeta's the main character. The only reason he's still relevant is because bulma boinked him and popped out trunks.

Vegeta has more poetic moments that feel fitting for a win. He didn’t have one with Frieza but when trunks died that would have been a good one for him, and when he did his final explosion would have been a good one for buu. Gohan had a good w with Cell, but Goku’s w with buu felt undeserved like there was no emotion there at all.
I wouldn’t have a problem if Toriyama didn’t set up situations where it would be awesome if Vegeta won, but then turn around and go “lol nah I mean it looked cool right but he just didn’t do enough damage lol” like just don’t give him the situation then

I second this. Part two for sure! Gohan will have no Ultimate form, but I'm curious how much will Vegeta's advice influence his overall power. Especially since Goku is alive and they can train together.
I feel like having vegeta changing his ways this much could change a lot of things, like spending more time with trunks (traning of course) and perhaps conceiving Bulla sooner. Maybe even having vegeta accepting the power of SSJ God instead of goku. It could deserve a second part if he is willing to accept help from others
Ayko Vegeta wouldn’t change his ways anyway, in his “You’re better than me Kakarot” speech, he acknowledges that he tried settling down and getting a family like Goku and he said his power didn’t change at all (or so he believes). Either way, Vegeta had already considered changing and felt it had no affect on his power. He wouldn’t change his ways in this alternate story.

CellJRs are not "bad". They were not killed by Gohan, they regenerated and were tamed by C17 to protect his island. Krillin even says that's how c17 became this strong. (check out the bonus chapter in DBS manga volume 8)

I think going 3 at that point would just break vegeta mentally, in a way that wouldn't be repaired by the next arc. If anything, his development would regress from this if goku went all out then.

Honestly, I think the raw power expelled by transforming into SS3 would be enough to wake Buu up. It was far less controlled than SS2, and leaks ki as a feature. Its very likely just transforming into it, even for a split second, was too risky for Goku to consider. Especially since he barely had any training with it prior.

Gohan might still get Ultimate. Maybe Supreme Kai will decide to have Gohan train with the Z-Sword and become stronger as a sort of reward for helping finish the Buu threat as well as thinking that Gohan earned the privilege to try and free the sword. Goku would probably visit and meddle like he does and the events play out as normal.
Do you remember the scene in DBS anime where Goku was sparing with future Trunks? Both went SSj2 and were equall. Then Goku went SSj3 and literally oneshoted Trunks. Thats how the fight will look between SSj3 Goku and SSj2 Majin Vegeta.
I’m happy you did this, though it wouldn’t have been as fun, you’re version of the story would’ve had great character development for Goku, Gohan, and especially vegeta, Goku would have a new goal of training the next generation of fighters which would make him a better family man than he already is and he would have a greater desire to train knowing threat Can appear regardless of his presence, Gohan would shed his arrogance way before he does in Super and would get back to training before the TOP, and Vegeta would get over his hatred of Goku sooner and be his own person

And for that same reason he wouldn't accept resurrection, since he wanted the new generation to be earth's guardian, he didn't kill fat buu when he had the chance even after it killed Vegeta and (he thought) Gohan.

@OffendRF What? In the manga piccolo explicitly states that Base Super Buu is far more powerful in every way compared to Fat buu. Goku estimated that Pre-RosaT Super Saiyan Gotenks could defeat Fat buu, which puts him in the same class as Super Saiyan 3 Goku. Even if we foolishly ignore how much stronger they get whilst training in the Room of Spirit and Time, they're still as a Super Saiyan 3 8 times stronger than Super Saiyan 3 Goku, and it took that to match and slightly overpower super buu. Additionally, Goku's only lost to kid buu due to his regeneration and the stamina drain caused by using Super Saiyan 3 with a living body, He also stated he wanted to give vegeta a turn, but by the time he realized vegeta was no match for buu, he had already run out of ki. In this respect I agree that he underestimated kid buu to some extent.
@@RayTRX8 We have no way of knowing if Gotenks (Super Saiyan) could actually beat Innocent Buu. Goku had no real idea strong he would be. He was simply putting his faith in the younger generation, because he felt he was dead and couldn’t be coming back to the Real World to bail them out all the time. All we know is Base Gotenks got slapped by Fat Buu, and he didn’t last nearly as long as Majin Vegeta, only surviving because he fled. So it’s pretty safe to assume Majin Vegeta > Base Gotenks. That’s the most we can speculate. Gotenks has no feats to concretely prove that he’s even a little stronger than Super Saiyan 3 Goku, let alone an absurd 8 TIMES stronger. That’s ridiculous.

Just him using ssj1 is already almost as strong as ssj3 goku because he clearly handled normal super buu who is way stronger than fat buu to almost a standstill. Meanwhile his ssj3 form completely dominates super buu who already gained even more power by absorbing everyone outside of hbtc (the likes of krillin, yamcha, 18, etc). Saying he has no feats to prove that he's stronger than normal ssj3 goku is proposterous.
Vegeta is completely different right now. I can see him going to yard ray immediately, or maybe going to train with the kaioshin. I’m imagining a vegeta who mastered yardratian ki manipulation techniques and has the ultimate form, I think it fits his character here well. And that ofc changes super a lot.
I always thought it made more sense that SS3 was just incomplete like SSG1.5 was when Trunks used it. He was as strong as SS2 but didn't have the speed. SS3 mastered shouldn't have the energy problems

Dang, I didn't realize how old this video is, and i was going to say that you should still have had S. Kai take Gohan to train with the Z sword, because he saw the potential in him and wanted to reward him with special Kai training! And of course, Goku BEGS to go as well, so they spend a few weeks/months there training, aaaaaannndddd still break the sword, get the ultimate power for Gohan (offered to Goku, but he declines, doesn't want free power). And Gohan gains a new respect for continued training. Maybe even Goten gets ultimate upgrade! (and he could ACTUALLY be relevant to the story for once....)
This was a great what if, it not only makes the buu arc much shorter, but it also fixes a lot about ssj3 on what I disliked it before. If this gets a part 2, you bet your sweet bippy I'm going to watch it the second it shows up in my notifications
Not harping on your video, I just have some thoughts on the series in general. SSJ3 was not thought of at that point, Vegeta sensed SSJ2 in the battle against Yakon, the series was supposed to end(again) at Vegeta's sacrifice. Goku's time runs out unconscious and Vegeta dead. After that they introduced a whole host of concepts, fusion, ssj3, Z sword, unlocking Gohan's potential(again) and all different forms of buu, all accepted as cannon today. Not to mention some very suspect story telling/dialog inside buu. But the worst offender is to end the series with a spirit bomb... Didn't work on Frieza, but it kills buu. No resolution, I know they wanted to keep it open for a sequel but Super isn't exactly a sequel either. Super takes the concepts and runs off into the Kelvin timeline so to speak. And we don't talk about GT.

I like that quote, 2:05 “a test of skill, not power.” A lot of time people beat each other because of power cliffing and hax, but not by skills. That’s completely understandable to be frustrated at that fact
I feel like there would be changes here that could lead to future stories. The first is that Buu wouldn't be around to piss off Beerus, so there is a chance a fight might not even happen if there is no SSGod for him to fight. Also, I think Gohan's realization about his power could lead to him training himself to avoid his nature of getting drunk off his power. And I think that could lead into a fun story where maybe Gohan trains with Supreme Kai or something. Maybe still getting the Z Sword and maybe doing his own god training while Vegeta and Goku eventually start training with Beerus and Whis.

You know, this may not make the Super arcs all that interesting - *except* for the Moro arc, where Buu is still sealed, and protected in the Kai realm. What would the galactic patrol do? Would they still get Goku and Vegeta? Would Moro take New Namek without interruption? Ofc the arc has to end to go through it all, but once it does, I'd be really interested in seeing what changes there'd be. And with no Buu for the ToP arc, would they immediately think of Frieza? Or would they draft someone else in first? Interesting to consider!
I don't actually know if Goku would decide to revive himself tbh. I mean you bring up a good point, that Gohan would say "You're not the cause of all these bad guys trying to destroy the world" But even in the show, there's a moment when Goku is talking to Piccolo on top of the lookout, after his fight with Vegeta, and he says something along the lines of "I'm someone who shouldn't even be in this world, I can't be around to save the day forever, I wanted the boys to figure out how to win this fight" etc etc. He gave off the impression that he didn't really want to be back, that's why he didn't destroy fat buu when he had the chance. Plus I think Goku likes being dead. I mean its like unlimited training in a youthful body, he achieved SSj3 up there so I think he actually prefers being dead to a point. I know he ended up being revived in the show, but that was only because old kai basically forced his life on goku, and goku wanted to save Gohan from Buutanks. So he had to take the life, but secretly I think he wants to die and just be training all the time.

vegeta had reached ss2j and surpassed gohan in previous years. this is evidenced by the confidence he shows towards dabura and the reproaches vegeta makes to gohan. so the 2 were in equal form but the difference was the way in which goku trained. having died, his body could endure more difficult or simply unsustainable training from a living person.

The only thing that's so weird about it is that he gave up fighting but then heard that Goku was coming back about a month before the tournament started so if he started training that one month, it wouldn't make sense how he got so strong in that little bit amount of time

I believe another outcome is more possible. Vegeta wouldn't give up. Not according to his character. Yes, SSJ3 would shock him at first and he would praise Goku but seeing the new power of Goku would make him want fight Goku even more than before. And as an excellent tactician he probably would fight defensively trying to find a weak spot of SSJ3. Maybe he would take a beating but Vegeta is extremely resilient. Probably he would drag the fight and this would have a bad outcome for Goku. Vegeta could also turn the tide of battle after the energy demand of SSJ3. Goku would think of this since he didn't mastered SSJ3 by then, and went with the better option, fighting as SSJ2.
Dude, majin vegeta was stomped and treated like a child by fat buu. Goku whooped fat buu and by his own statement could have easily killed him but chose not to for gotenk's sake. Strategy is irrelevent here, power is 4 times in goku's favor, speed is in his favor, and Vegeta would not last long enough for stamina to matter. SS3 would beat vegeta down, plain and simple.

Although it was officially stated that the transformation alone took half his ki and we know that Goku didn't Master Super Saiyan 3 until super after he trained with Whis ( is training with Whis led to him being able to transform into Super Saiyan 3 with no Ki consumption but he still couldn't maintain it for long because of the sheer amount of Ki and stamina it took to maintain the form) this still means that Goku's remaining Super Saiyan 3 power with be twice as strong as Vegeta

Okay well I should have said implied instead of revealed. Because there's no real Solid Source I can provide but I can go off of how Gohan's initial Super Saiyan 2 translation work in comparison to Vegeta's after he gave to the wizard. When Gohan initially transform his power output was exceptionally strong due to his rage. We do know that when Vegeta initially transforms into Super Saiyan 2 he still weaker than Goku Ssj 2. The wizard's magic ( I say his spell the Wizards name correctly) allowed him to draw out his full potential in Super Saiyan 2. Given that Vegeta's anger was extremely high due to always being overshadowed by Goku I think it's safe to assume that his anger gave him a slight boost in power to where he was able to be slightly stronger than Goku though not significant enough to be able to beat Goku easily

Vegeta has more poetic moments that feel fitting for a win. He didn’t have one with Frieza but when trunks died that would have been a good one for him, and when he did his final explosion would have been a good one for buu. Gohan had a good w with Cell, but Goku’s w with buu felt undeserved like there was no emotion there at all.
I wouldn’t have a problem if Toriyama didn’t set up situations where it would be awesome if Vegeta won, but then turn around and go “lol nah I mean it looked cool right but he just didn’t do enough damage lol” like just don’t give him the situation then

Either way, Vegeta had already considered changing and felt it had no affect on his power. He wouldn’t change his ways in this alternate story.

Honestly, I think the raw power expelled by transforming into SS3 would be enough to wake Buu up. It was far less controlled than SS2, and leaks ki as a feature. Its very likely just transforming into it, even for a split second, was too risky for Goku to consider. Especially since he barely had any training with it prior.

Gohan might still get Ultimate. Maybe Supreme Kai will decide to have Gohan train with the Z-Sword and become stronger as a sort of reward for helping finish the Buu threat as well as thinking that Gohan earned the privilege to try and free the sword. Goku would probably visit and meddle like he does and the events play out as normal.
Do you remember the scene in DBS anime where Goku was sparing with future Trunks? Both went SSj2 and were equall. Then Goku went SSj3 and literally oneshoted Trunks. Thats how the fight will look between SSj3 Goku and SSj2 Majin Vegeta.

@OffendRF What? In the manga piccolo explicitly states that Base Super Buu is far more powerful in every way compared to Fat buu. Goku estimated that Pre-RosaT Super Saiyan Gotenks could defeat Fat buu, which puts him in the same class as Super Saiyan 3 Goku. Even if we foolishly ignore how much stronger they get whilst training in the Room of Spirit and Time, they're still as a Super Saiyan 3 8 times stronger than Super Saiyan 3 Goku, and it took that to match and slightly overpower super buu. Additionally, Goku's only lost to kid buu due to his regeneration and the stamina drain caused by using Super Saiyan 3 with a living body, He also stated he wanted to give vegeta a turn, but by the time he realized vegeta was no match for buu, he had already run out of ki. In this respect I agree that he underestimated kid buu to some extent.

We have no way of knowing if Gotenks (Super Saiyan) could actually beat Innocent Buu. Goku had no real idea strong he would be. He was simply putting his faith in the younger generation, because he felt he was dead and couldn’t be coming back to the Real World to bail them out all the time. All we know is Base Gotenks got slapped by Fat Buu, and he didn’t last nearly as long as Majin Vegeta, only surviving because he fled. So it’s pretty safe to assume Majin Vegeta > Base Gotenks. That’s the most we can speculate.
Gotenks has no feats to concretely prove that he’s even a little stronger than Super Saiyan 3 Goku, let alone an absurd 8 TIMES stronger. That’s ridiculous.

Just him using ssj1 is already almost as strong as ssj3 goku because he clearly handled normal super buu who is way stronger than fat buu to almost a standstill. Meanwhile his ssj3 form completely dominates super buu who already gained even more power by absorbing everyone outside of hbtc (the likes of krillin, yamcha, 18, etc). Saying he has no feats to prove that he's stronger than normal ssj3 goku is proposterous.

Dang, I didn't realize how old this video is, and i was going to say that you should still have had S. Kai take Gohan to train with the Z sword, because he saw the potential in him and wanted to reward him with special Kai training! And of course, Goku BEGS to go as well, so they spend a few weeks/months there training, aaaaaannndddd still break the sword, get the ultimate power for Gohan (offered to Goku, but he declines, doesn't want free power). And Gohan gains a new respect for continued training. Maybe even Goten gets ultimate upgrade! (and he could ACTUALLY be relevant to the story for once....)
This was a great what if, it not only makes the buu arc much shorter, but it also fixes a lot about ssj3 on what I disliked it before. If this gets a part 2, you bet your sweet bippy I'm going to watch it the second it shows up in my notifications

Not harping on your video, I just have some thoughts on the series in general. SSJ3 was not thought of at that point, Vegeta sensed SSJ2 in the battle against Yakon, the series was supposed to end(again) at Vegeta's sacrifice. Goku's time runs out unconscious and Vegeta dead. After that they introduced a whole host of concepts, fusion, ssj3, Z sword, unlocking Gohan's potential(again) and all different forms of buu, all accepted as cannon today. Not to mention some very suspect story telling/dialog inside buu. But the worst offender is to end the series with a spirit bomb... Didn't work on Frieza, but it kills buu. No resolution, I know they wanted to keep it open for a sequel but Super isn't exactly a sequel either. Super takes the concepts and runs off into the Kelvin timeline so to speak. And we don't talk about GT.

I feel like there would be changes here that could lead to future stories. The first is that Buu wouldn't be around to piss off Beerus, so there is a chance a fight might not even happen if there is no SSGod for him to fight. Also, I think Gohan's realization about his power could lead to him training himself to avoid his nature of getting drunk off his power. And I think that could lead into a fun story where maybe Gohan trains with Supreme Kai or something. Maybe still getting the Z Sword and maybe doing his own god training while Vegeta and Goku eventually start training with Beerus and Whis.

You know, this may not make the Super arcs all that interesting - *except* for the Moro arc, where Buu is still sealed, and protected in the Kai realm. What would the galactic patrol do? Ofc the arc has to end to go through it all, but once it does, I'd be really interested in seeing what changes there'd be. And with no Buu for the ToP arc, would they immediately think of Frieza? Or would they draft someone else in first? Interesting to consider!

I don't actually know if Goku would decide to revive himself tbh. I mean you bring up a good point, that Gohan would say "You're not the cause of all these bad guys trying to destroy the world" But even in the show, there's a moment when Goku is talking to Piccolo on top of the lookout, after his fight with Vegeta, and he says something along the lines of "I'm someone who shouldn't even be in this world, I can't be around to save the day forever, I wanted the boys to figure out how to win this fight" etc etc. He gave off the impression that he didn't really want to be back, that's why he didn't destroy fat buu when he had the chance. Plus I think Goku likes being dead. I mean its like unlimited training in a youthful body, he achieved SSj3 up there so I think he actually prefers being dead to a point. I know he ended up being revived in the show, but that was only because old kai basically forced his life on goku, and goku wanted to save Gohan from Buutanks. So he had to take the life, but secretly I think he wants to die and just be training all the time.
This would have been a much more satisfying ending to the Majin Buu Arc.

vegeta had reached ss2j and surpassed gohan in previous years. this is evidenced by the confidence he shows towards dabura and the reproaches vegeta makes to gohan. so the 2 were in equal form but the difference was the way in which goku trained. having died, his body could endure more difficult or simply unsustainable training from a living person.

But again I'm just saying being a majin didn't increase his power, because he already obtained that power through training to be able to beat Gohan in a tournament to fight Goku.
The only thing that's so weird about it is that he gave up fighting but then heard that Goku was coming back about a month before the tournament started so if he started training that one month, it wouldn't make sense how he got so strong in that little bit amount of time

I believe another outcome is more possible. Vegeta wouldn't give up. Not according to his character. Yes, SSJ3 would shock him at first and he would praise Goku but seeing the new power of Goku would make him want fight Goku even more than before. And as an excellent tactician he probably would fight defensively trying to find a weak spot of SSJ3. Maybe he would take a beating but Vegeta is extremely resilient. Probably he would drag the fight and this would have a bad outcome for Goku. Vegeta could also turn the tide of battle after the energy demand of SSJ3. Goku would think of this since he didn't mastered SSJ3 by then, and went with the better option, fighting as SSJ2.
Dude, majin vegeta was stomped and treated like a child by fat buu. Goku whooped fat buu and by his own statement could have easily killed him but chose not to for gotenk's sake. Strategy is irrelevent here, power is 4 times in goku's favor, speed is in his favor, and Vegeta would not last long enough for stamina to matter. SS3 would beat vegeta down, plain and simple.
