It’s refreshing to see a young black man take time to better himself internally, and work on his home environment. I’ve been an empty nester for 24 years, since my son left home. I’ve never shared my living space with someone other than my son, so this is all I know, at age sixty-two. I cook most of what I eat, and I must say, having two air fryers have changed my life. Trying new recipes and getting home interior inspiration from Pinterest, have been the best things for my home environment. It’s peaceful, and showcases my creativity as an artist. Color has been therapeutic for me. I also have an aquatic turtle and dozens of houseplants. I needed something to nurture and breathe life into my apartment. These things are working for me.

It's incredible how two (or more) people can have completely different lives, but live the same experiences, sometimes simultaneously. Getting the crib together and going through all the same things, needing to declutter, redo the space, all while still being accountable to life's responsibilities and obligations on one's own is a lot to ask of oneself. It's hard not to feel constantly burnt out. It's hard to not go down the path of "what if". And it's hard to find the time to get time to yourself, and to get yourself back. If there's one thing that's taken too long for me to learn on my own it's this: Life unapologetically moves forward whether you're reading, or willing, or not. You got this. Keep pushing forward man, there's more life up ahead.
One hundred percent agree. Everyone should have their own place. It teaches you one of the big responsibility of adulting, which is self sufficiency. You also learn who you are and how you like to run your household. I know people who in their 40s and 50s that have never had a home with their name on the lease.
It’s so essential to developing independently. I now understand why everyone says it’s something you should do before living with anyone 🙏🏾

Your videos are mad inspiring. I'm 21 years old living in LA, and the future feels distant. These vlogs help me look forward to the next decade of my life. I tried and failed with entrepreneurship (videography) as a way to make money.
A year in, I realized I never cared about making video as an art form, and only wanted to make money and become famous. I also realized most of my "friends" were not friends, they just took advantage of me for my camera, and never gave me honest feedback of my work, it took months before I got actual honest feedback, and they gave me the review of my work I needed. They told me it was trash, and is not at a competitive level. I began receiving the same opinions from people outside "friend" group. Patterns started appearing.
Wasted a year of my life.
Cut everyone off and decided to start fresh. Decided to take another gamble since I'm pretty young. Mechanical Engineering. I know it's hard but I don't care. Finished my first year, and loved every second of it. It's hard, and extreme pain to go through, but I like the man I'm becoming every semester. It's hard don't get me wrong, but anything that's worth it, is. It also made me realize, the same work I'm putting in engineering, is the same I needed to for Videography. No shortcuts to victory.
Making the "stupid" decision to major in engineering especially since I wasn't a star student in HS (barely able to do algebra) is the first time I felt like an adult. Can't wait to see what the future brings.
I think that you should look for 3 long mirrors or one big one behind the couch in order to open up the space, bounce some light off of them.
Also, use the other walls for art pieces.

The hardest decisions we make that leads to growth usually starts with being uncomfortable. You choosing engineering is that decision that’ll lead you to continually become a stronger and more confident version of yourself 🙏🏾
