So we’re manifesting being a full time creator, where the bills are on autopay, and the only stresses is needing to film a video and planning out projects🙏🏽 Over time I’ve learned none of this business is “cookie cutter” but there will be times where you gotta hold your breath and put energy into your craft. It will work for you!
Solid content. Working full time and building a business outside work, it is criticallly important that you eat healthy energizing food and get enough sleep. Cannot overstate this. Keep at it. You have something special here.❤
D. Dames and Corey Jones--the collab I never knew I needed! Loved seeing you connect with Corey, who I also watch. I appreciated hearing your transparency on how you manage your creator money, especially the part about view guarantee stipulations. Keep getting to it!
Well well well well well look at this a positive speaking black man that Doesn't feel the need to put black woman down or make fun of us yes sir there is something about a man taking care of himself that is so hot
Finding that balance when you’re starting out is a learning curve at its worst 🤣 Even just trying to manage the time let alone the money can be headache
Oh for sure bro - I will always say to anybody thinking of going full time creative is to do it smartly. At least have a year and change worth of savings from a 9-5pm that can hold you down if content creation isn't consistent. It's a tough game out here. Appreciate the love bro
the last section was GOLD. Also props to Corey for making it and much more success to you and him both! Plus, good to see you getting the recognition from brands, slowly but surely.
Fire video! I personally enjoy being both a 9 to 5er and a content creator. They contrast in many ways but they balance each other out. Also those Net 30s ain’t no joke 😅
i know you hear this all the time but you are criminally underrated, thank you for the consistency and fresh, quality content. this was AMAZING as always. God bless 🙏🏼
Great video!! I loved your analogy between Creative-based income and traditional 9-to-5 income and how each are managed differently. Shout out to your guess Corey Jones and Tatiana C. whom gave great input on this subject matter. Thanks for sharing. Take care!
Shout out from the A and saw you on Corey J channel and now I am new subscriber. Like to see young black men on something positive which is not highlighted
10:32 as a firm owner it’s something I’m learning quickly. Know your worth and make sure your clients value your worth. In my business I’m always saying if they turn down my fees I’ll wait bc they will be back and they will wind up paying more 😂
This was informative and gave great insight to those considering content creation. Thank you for the continuous QUALITY in the work you do and provide & again, so happy to see you and Corey collaborate! We need to see more collaboration between black men pushed to the forefront! love ❤
This was so awesome to hear as someone who wants to hop into content for my future as well. Dames you gotta be my top 5 youtubers right now that I will gladly put something on pause to watch! 💯
@@ddames I got to ask, how do you balance your social life as well? What would you do handling 9-5, creative, girlfriend, friends whatnot? Would love to see a video on Work/Life Balance!!🙏
Another fire video, great topic, one a lot of people are interested in. Feel you on marrying 9 to 5 plus content creation. Thank you for the inspiration as always my dawg. Much love and respect for what you do fam.
Broooooooooo amazing vid! Been following both Corey and you for a time now and enjoyed the collab so much! Great stuff as always, enjoy your sunday night and much love from Germany 🤜🤛🏾
This one was so interesting, really useful for guys like me that want to start doing this creative thing sooner or later, also and especially because of how inspirational you are with your videos. Much love ❤💪🏻
Thank you for being so transparent. This is super helpful especially for me being early on my creative journey. Plus You will exceed your VG for sure! Good luck!
Man I know that feeling of still working your 9-5 while being a creator.. i really like my job, and I love creating.. but I also love consistent income :)
Love the video and the chat. Next time, if it feels right, catch up with Gyasi Linje, I believe he is also in Brooklyn! You guys are all in a similar space but have different and interesting perspectives on how you’re currently tackling life in general, creative life, and professional careers!
Will watch it in 9h, but I appreciate finally hearing finance related topics that would otherwise be taboo. Now I can finally learn for my own experience
@@ddames Basically how it’s been where I’ve worked most companies have a treasury department and they basically tell the amount that can be spent each day each week or each month and it’s also based on priority. So basically let’s say that $1500 for Rocket Mortgage is net 30 and you wanted to negotiate it to net 15 if it falls perfectly in the budget and there’s no other invoices that take priority over yours then they will most likely except it but most do the net 30 and beyond to be on the safe side where they know they’ll have the funds to pay you. And if a company ever decides to not pay you on time or if it’s happened all ready it’s basically because the budget was more than likely met and your invoice wasn’t priority enough to them and they payed priority invoices first.
Love the video! Would you ever consider doing a self-care vlog a compilation of a few days where you have downtime in contrast to the business of balancing your 9-5 and being a creative?
I’m fan boying really quick lmao. I’ve been talking to my friends about my moves after undergrad. While I enjoy the creative space throughly I also know I’d have to marry a 9-5 also. It’s dope that you mentioned Corey Jones but I watch you guys both specifically Jones’s videos about working at Google. This was a really dope moment for me to know the two of you guys network. I must be on the right path haha!
Another great video!!🔥🔥🔥 I appreciate you keeping it real about how content creators get paid. I learned A LOT from you and your guests transparency! 👏🏾👏🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 I know balancing a 9-5 and content creation isn’t easy but the grind will be worth it! 🙏🏾🙏🏾💚💚
I dig what you and Corey are doing. It's positive and quality. Respect. Does your day job 9-5 also have a creative outlet? Or is this where you are able to flex your creative muscle?
What’s good bro, been a minute 🙏🏾. I took a break to recover from tearing my achillies two years ago. I actually just picked up a basketball last week though lol. We gotta catch up bro
Word bro we gotta ball man . Im actually tryna get back in the scene might try to put a team in a league. U was the first person i thought of to recruit lol.
honest question: why do only black creators or black anything always have to make it a point to say it's black? Black owned, etc. black creator? How come they never say Black plumber, black accountant, but only for the things that sound more elegant, like Black Owned or Black Creator? I find it pretty arrogant and confusing.
Typically Black creatives are overlooked, underpaid and evaluated more rigorously compared to our non black counterparts. It’s us taking pride in the fact that we are indeed Black Creatives. It’s not about arrogance.
@@ddames But just because some may be overlooked and underpaid, when will the chains be let loose of always putting a label? I'm not trying to be rude, but it's an honest question considering how many rich, talented black people there are. Asian people are treated so poorly, historically, but they all work hard, work quietly, and never complain about being overlooked. Same thing goes for Indians. This is the point that I make. Not only do you get to succeed but you have to make everything about your label being celebrated. When this is the rhetoric and thought pattern, of course an employer will choose the one who doesn't complain about the color of their skin impacting their talent.
So many gems dropped! Great filming as always my brotha. I appreciate the hospitality fam ✊🏾💯
