The way I see it is that we live in an era where music consumption is deeply fragmented, with everyone gravitating toward their own niche-rap included. Streaming platforms have revolutionized discovery, allowing people to connect with music that resonates personally, rather than through word-of-mouth like in the past. This shift means artists like Doechii (who feels like an American Lil Simz, which is high praise) or Playboi Carti, despite their undeniable talent, may not achieve the universal superstardom they would have in a different time. Algorithms on platforms like Spotify and Instagram only amplify this individualized listening experience. Relatability is the defining factor for success today. Audiences are drawn to artists who authentically reflect their lives and struggles, especially in a culture where performative or surface-level content doesn’t hit as hard. The next generation-defining rapper will need to encapsulate the essence of Gen Z-its challenges, identity, values, and even its controversies. They’ll need to explore their own life, beliefs, and trials in a way that resonates universally with the 2020s audience. And let’s not forget: BANGERS (CLUB HITS) matter. Viral, fun, exciting, or even controversial tracks that dominate social media are essential, but they must be paired with authentic, introspective storytelling. Distribution is just as critical. Platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat are tools, but the key is using them to build a deeper connection-not just to go viral as a “TikTok artist.” The ideal artist will balance relatability, catchy anthems, and a strong sense of self-awareness, creating music that defines the moment while leaving a lasting cultural impact. Just as Gen Z seeks answers through podcasts, social media, and shared experiences, they’re looking for authenticity and creativity in their artists. It’s crazy how carti is in the talks for all this because I feel like most of his fans or fanbase has had this idea since the very beginning. Like 2015 fans too. At least for me, it’s been like a decade of listening to him and I always felt like he had that star power. And a lot of other people have always felt that way. You can listen to an underground artist and realize that they deserve more fans but then there’s the ones you listen to and you just know that one day they’ll be HUGE if the mainstream catches on. I always knew Carti had potential to be a superstar but I lowkey didn’t trust the mainstream masses to catch on.
Doechii reminds me of Tyler the creator in a way, she can sing and rap, be both vunerable/emotional and funny/upbeat, and she does her own thing thats like no one else
As a loyal playboi Carti fan, I think it’s kinda disheartening in terms of how playboi Carti has carried himself with his career thus far . It’s not often that you have an artist who is so dynamic and is greatly respected in his growing fan base yet completely drops the ball as it relates to consistency or feeding his fans . It’s also wild to me that his album rollout was so epic in the first part of the year and hype behind “2024 music “ was at its peak yet he completely fumbled the bag as it relates to striking while the iron was hot . I love Carti but he’s either very complacent or extremely lazy and it sucks to see cuz the star power that he’s been able to attain and retain is crazy😂
He’s talked about it before. He said he’s a perfectionist so he’s probably thinking about it too hard knowing that he has to follow up wlr which is so highly received now and genre-bending, on top of it being a 4 year hiatus. He’s probably also got label stuff too.
I think he’s gotten very lucky since his aesthetic has allowed his career to grow with basically no music💀 but he’s definitely not lazy and he knows what he’s doing 100%. The stuff at the beginning of the year why he didn’t drop was bc of Kanye, he wanted to drop 2 projects and i actually think we would’ve got that if vultures 1 dropped mid December.
He didn’t drop because of Kanye at the start of the year, Drake and Kendrick beef that lasted till summer, then a surprise drop from Tyler then Kendrick. Another issue is, he’s been indirectly building up hype for his next project for so long, I can almost guarantee you he knows how important it is to actually deliver and not drop a mediocre project (like Lil Baby in 2022, Uzi in 2023, etc) because of what it does to your career.
The problem is not enough underground listen the ones with 6 views and with a great choice of cover . I noticed you can tell alot by what an artist chooses as a cover .... That and the person gotta love being different and grow with it .... I believe theres hope if people have open minds and kinda not afraid to play artists music that people will shun you for its a double edge sword for listeners and artist... Theres too many artist out there chasing a bag that needs to fall..... Good luck to the artist reading this but for the people who are listeners choose a variety of music not the ones thats popping
Superstars always ALWAYS have a nostalgic presence about them. their first crossover has to be inter generational - you gotta get people 15 & 20 years older checkin’ for you.

But I think the current front runners at least in hiphop is As far as popular: 21 Kodak Carti Baby Keem NBA Youngboi Doechii Personally I'd love to see in the mix: JID Denzel Curry Isaiah Rashad Smino Saba Logic
Pop Smoke is also a part of the killed list that I believe would have become a superstar. He had bravado, NYC backing & would have had the blessing & guidance of a NYC superstar, 50 cent

Rap is getting carried by everyone that's 30+ yrs old. Once they finally leave it's literally over imo, or there will be a huge reset within the culture of hip hop to create a new narrative to get back to authenticity. Carti and Dochi are great examples tho.

I don't really see age as a perspective too much but it will show a perspective on the ones leading this shit now too. Back to the youth tho. There are great individuals that are leading the youth right now in music and hip hop culture but as a macro collective it's not the same as it was before about a decade ago. I'm 29 btw to put this in retrospect

Great video man you now have a new subscriber! Lol
Carti doesn’t have the work ethic or consistency to be a superstar on the level of Drake, Travis, or (old) Kanye. He is also weird in a “bad” way. He beat up his pregnant girlfriend. I do not think he can last another 4 year hiatus.
I agree. I like Carti music and I just discovered Doechii last week. I love her. Personally, I'm tired of both Drake and Kendrick. Sad because both were my favorite rappers when I was a kid. It's definitely time for new heavyweights.
What about travis? He is rapper (of course), High streamings, Very inflencial, Very popular in social media, aura etc Own (popular) brand with nike, Wordwide huge concerts Damn, i think he will have this award for shure
yeah travis is the last rap superstar he didn't really have a long long time like the others but as far as anthems , numbers and appeal he ticks the boxes , has a large fan base , about 12 anthems , sicko mode , antidote and others , fein too was dope
Being so real, people are getting tired of Hip-Hop. From the worship of Kendrick Lamar. Rappers teasing new music and taking years to drop it and there fans growing up before they can capture the full wave of their own hype. The “Culture” shaming of certain demographics listening to Hip-Hop, the removal of bundles (that made a lot of superstars look bigger than they actually are during that period). Hip-Hop is exhausted. They are trying to push that Doochii girl or whatever her name is, but even though “being the next Kendrick” can get you somewhere, I don’t see that sound getting her to superstar, mega hits, and building a fanbase anywhere near Nicki’s or Cardi’s. If a new superstar comes, they will come, if not, Hip-Hop will just continue to decline like other Genres that have faded into obscurity.

The issue is talent not getting exposure. Which has always been the #1 issue. There are plenty of 2pac and Biggies all over the world. GOD didn't quit making great rappers. The people who have the power to help make stars don't care to. The people with the money and power to help make stars, don't GIVE A F****.
Very true
so true
You’re right. Whole video is correct. Anything you said was a “hot take” is truth. And I see why you’re some what hesitant. The truth will set people free, But shit it’ll hurt first loll.. I’m trying to cultivate my sound right now and I’m smaller than small time but I needed this video. It’s helping me keep going strictly off of the love of creating things. Thanks dawg, god bless ya 2025!
Im trying to 🙏🏼❤️
Kenny Mason and Doechii
Kenny needs to lock tf in the mixtapes are dope but I wanna see 200% effort
Kenny is amazing. But his label has to push him
Glad somebody said something about Lil Baby. He was never the guy.
Hey man , just saw this video come across my timeline , had to subscribe. good stuff broski .

I actually like what he's done so far
@@kang5842 those sound like bad reasons ngl
The problem is not enough underground listen the ones with 6 views and with a great choice of cover . I noticed you can tell alot by what an artist chooses as a cover .... That and the person gotta love being different and grow with it .... I believe theres hope if people have open minds and kinda not afraid to play artists music that people will shun you for its a double edge sword for listeners and artist... Theres too many artist out there chasing a bag that needs to fall..... Good luck to the artist reading this but for the people who are listeners choose a variety of music not the ones thats popping
Music is missing Mystique
It’s missing substance which hiphop was built on. When you take foundation of something everything crumbles
@@insidemymindinchow would u define substance im very curious

Every rapsody project out
One thing that really effecting the generation is some of the those generational stars either died or got locked like pop smoke or juice wrld
Baby Keem if he dropped, come back to this within the next few years tho
right here bro just you wait
You must be talking about me! Not just rap either! 👀
Doeichi, she'll either fail horribly or rise spectacularly
Not even self promotion or anything but I found this artist called everestaspirin and he lowkey might be the next big thing. He’s versatile as hell
Right here, one day.
PERFECTLY PUT
its gon be me, hold me to that
Superstars always ALWAYS have a nostalgic presence about them. their first crossover has to be inter generational - you gotta get people 15 & 20 years older checkin’ for you.
6:21 yk about linkin park?! shoutout to you my guy
its like people dont give more importance to such great artist like JID, denezel curry, vince staples, and little simz

Post 2018 is goated
Theory is the initial front runners were the ones that got killed XXXTentacion & JuiceWRLD. But I think the current front runners at least in hiphop is
As far as popular:
21
Kodak
Carti
Baby Keem
NBA Youngboi
Doechii
Personally I'd love to see in the mix:
JID
Denzel Curry
Isaiah Rashad
Smino
Saba
Logic
Pop Smoke is also a part of the killed list that I believe would have become a superstar. He had bravado, NYC backing & would have had the blessing & guidance of a NYC superstar, 50 cent
The J. Cole R&B section 😂😂😂
Definitely me tap in 🔥
Lets be real its doechii

you got crazy aura, bro
Stellar video man
Dawg. All of the future superstars died. I’m thinking X, Juice, and Pop Smoke specifically, but the rap lifestyle is killing its own that just doesn’t happen in the same way in other genres
I love Asaprocky hope he gets even bigger and denzel needs his flowers too
benji blue bills coming up
Travis Scott, Tyler the Creator & Carti are probably the face of the 2020s rbh

I gotchu twin
don’t worry I’m debuting in 2 years
I think denzel has the ability to be a massive superstar. He already has a massive discography and a pretty big fan base pluss he only 28 he just need one big hit. Denzel up next no doubts
Excellent video, dude 🔥
Here but they don’t know me yet…

Rap is getting carried by everyone that's 30+ yrs old. Once they finally leave it's literally over imo, or there will be a huge reset within the culture of hip hop to create a new narrative to get back to authenticity. Carti and Dochi are great examples tho.
Rap is just evolving right now your wrong it’s a lot of young stars that are popping whether you like it or not the old guys retiring actually would help a lot
@@GoyarxrdWhich Young artists would you say?
@@Waluigi-vr4qzthere are a lot of people who have came with their own unique sounds this year. First of all even tho I don’t like them Carti and his opium boys created a brand new sound and movement, BossMan Dlow brought back real trap music, Chicago Drill is reemerging, Female rap including Doechii who is really talented, Rod Wave fills the void of a Juice Wrld and X by covering mental health topics, etc. There are a lot of great unique young artists but they are constantly overshadowed by the narrative that the older guys are better when they never had the chance.
I’m 21 but I don’t see anything wrong with 30+ yr old people running it - what’s your opinion on that ? (Not taking the piss, I’m genuinely interested)
@senzudude yeah I didn't mean it in a duragatory way, I just feel it's a little disappointing that the youth isn't leading rn with genuine and authentic and contextual art, not on the su4face at least.
I completely agree about future it took me a while to get on the train lol I would like to add Doja Cat to that list .. I believe she in a similar spot to lil baby but with way more skill but she has had a couple career choices i feel that as held her back but she can come back I believe. But even artist such as Tyler the Creator I feel like hasn't reached his peak yet . People just started giving the respect he deserves after IGOR so I think the story is still being written on him ! Great video man you now have a new subscriber! Lol
Igor was 6 years ago bro
I aint know bro had big muscular arms like dat! Ay great video tho big bro
Blessings...🤲🏿🙏🏿✨
Carti doesn’t have the work ethic or consistency to be a superstar on the level of Drake, Travis, or (old) Kanye. He is also weird in a “bad” way. He beat up his pregnant girlfriend.
I do not think he can last another 4 year hiatus.
He will and there are plenty other artist who did worst things than carti and are superstars so idk why your bringing that up
Y'all say that every time 😊
all the next potential rap superstars are dead. it’s actually sad
Yeah
Or in jail
this is a very old head take the underground scene is FLOURISHING rn
w vid no cap the ian take is very vald and it finally hit that he trying clone carti
doechii is probably it
Love the intro
I agree. I like Carti music and I just discovered Doechii last week. I love her. Personally, I'm tired of both Drake and Kendrick. Sad because both were my favorite rappers when I was a kid. It's definitely time for new heavyweights.
I think I’m the next rap superstar I’ll update you guys in like 3-4 years
What about travis?
He is rapper (of course),
High streamings,
Very inflencial,
Very popular in social media, aura etc
Own (popular) brand with nike,
Wordwide huge concerts
Damn, i think he will have this award for shure
yeah travis is the last rap superstar
he didn't really have a long long time like the others but as far as anthems , numbers and appeal he ticks the boxes , has a large fan base , about 12 anthems , sicko mode , antidote and others , fein too was dope
I'm voting for doechii
dc the don deserve way more recognition, dat boy been grinding
This dude underrated asf
IM da Next Watch !!!!
