I think its a good order. If GTech was available I would put them 1. But BIG 10 might snatch them. Of the 4 you listed I completely agree with your list.
several articles are now stating that as usual the politics are involved, and that UNC NCS and Duke are not aloud to leave the conf unless together. Not sure how true that is but it also affected what happened with the Pac when it fell apart.
UNC and NC State are tied together because they are part of the same University system. Duke is a private University and not connected to anyone. It’s possible that UNC and NC State could split but the BOG (board of governors) would have to approve it.
VT and NC St are not a guarantee due to state legislation. They might get an SEC invite just to secure NC and VA. I think everyone agrees on Pitt and Louisville though. Unfortunately the B1G and SEC will eat first and we won’t know until that happens
If the end number of members for the B1G and SEC is 24 each, the schools that you think are coming to the Big12 won’t be there to take. And probably 3 to 4 schools that are in the Big12 will probably be leaving as well. On a good note however, if the B1G and SEC stop at 20 members each and end their expansion, the Big12 is safe and secure.
I agree. The ACC teams that most in here are mentioning, are ripe for the picking by two big dawgs. The SEC and B1G are just laying in wait to see what happens with the FSU-ACC case and then will see who reaches out after that. If the ACC does go by the way of the PAC-10-Dodo Bird, then FSU, Clem, UVA, UNC, VaTech, GaTech, Miami and NC State are the targets of the two bigger fish, sorry Big XII.
The problem with the TV rating is the ACCN is not figured in those numbers. ESPN does not share them, nor does Neilson have rights to them. The ACCN had VT, NCSU, and Pitt on most prime-time games. Add those numbers, and the math becomes much different. ESPN filed a lawsuit against FSU this morning relating to trade secrets, where it points out the ACCN has millions of viewers. The B10 and SEC networks have the same problem regarding being underreported. Keep up the good work.
Only thing that will get Pitt in would be the back yard brawl. I think they would look more at the numbers and go with Va tech, Louisville, Miami and NC State.
TV ratings for Virginia Tech are terribly skewed. 3 or 4 of their games were on ACC Network which is not used by Nielson. I also think the U.S. News numbers are older. Most recent numbers I saw had Virginia Tech at #40 overall and tied for 20th of purely public schools.
I agree with you @VBHokie. ALL of these shows from other conferences underrate and under value VaTech and the rest of the ACC for that matter. Regarding VaTech as a brand and it's tv market, most try to only use Blacksburg/Roanoke as the TV Market which is completely wrong! VaTech's largest alumni bases are in DC, VA, Maryland and Charlotte. VaTech is the the most watched Football team in the VA-DC-MD tv markets. It's not Univ. of Md. and it's not UVA. I would also argue that VaTech commands a large viewership in the Charlotte Market as well being that it is only a 2-hr drive from Blacksburg. It's funny how the Big XII fans seem to think they have a stronger football conf. After Texas and Oklahoma leave, whose left? None of the remaining teams are national brands and other than Ok. State, none are consistently good. Since some of the people in the comments bring up academics, VA Tech, NC State, UNC, Miami and Pitt would easily be the top academic schools in the Big XII. The Big XII only has two schools that crack the top 100 (Baylor #93 and TCU #98) by comparison, Duke #7, Va Tech #47, NC State #60, Pitt and Miami #67 eclipses all Big XII schools academically. In addition, these same ACC teams with the exception of Duke would have the biggest stadiums in the Big XII and despite what most of you think, better football is played in the ACC. FSU can leave. Other than this year, when in the past 10 yrs have they truly haven't been all that relevant. If Clem stays in the ACC, no one seems to be clamoring for them anyway, the ACC can survive. Yall let us have WVU and Ok St and maybe UCF. You can keep the rest...If the ACC does go by the way of the PAC-10-Dodo Bird, then UVA, UNC, VaTech, GaTech, Miami and NC State are the targets of the two bigger fish, sorry Big XII.
@@warrengque And don't forget Richmond or Southeast VA - Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, etc (aka the 757) - you can't swing a dead cat without hitting someone in Hokie gear. VT owns VA... P-E-R-I-O-D
I actually tend to agree with you. I definitely think there is something wonky in those numbers. As someone who lives close to Blacksburg, I know how passionate those VT fans are and that most of them watch the games. That’s why I made sure to specify that there are caveats to those tv numbers.
Quick comment about TV viewership. Ratings for ACC Network isn't publicized/counted. That's why the numbers for those 3 are so low. Louisville played more games on the big networks and was counted
Personally if it were me, no one will like it, but as a K-State alumnus my preference would be Virginia Tech, Louisville, Duke & UCONN. From a BB point of view the conference would be an absolute powerhouse. I know the last two aren't that great in FB, but they have the major name brands. From my perspective this would put us in the NYC Market backyard, plus put us in ESPN's backyard. They live and breathe by UCONN and Duke. NC State would be okay & Pitt would be okay, but I wouldn't add them unless we went to 24. Then if they could swing it add Clemson & Miami to round out the conference. It's not likely, but those would be my targets if I was Yormark. 12 east, 12 west (you would probably have to put either Iowa State or Houston in the east. Most likely Houston considering they have a large airport making it easier for travel). Winners of each division play for the conference crown.
Virginia tech and NC state has become pretty good rivals for Marshall lately a lot of close games with Marshall coming out on top multiple times over with Virginia tech. But Nc State as far as West Virginia and the Big 12 goes it doesn't really make sense. I would go with Duke first. Duke brings a good basketball program and a decent football team. It's probably the best out of the North Carolina schools all around at sports. Maybe UNC if available but I feel they're just so overrated. But they probably have a bigger fan base then Duke?
It's hard to answer that question because it's apparent to me by the lower-than-expected preliminary CFP TV contract figures and the subsequent meetings and decision on the CFP playoff format for the 2024 and 2025 seasons, that the fans, the athletic directors, the presidents, the commissioners, power boosters, etc don't control the destiny or future of college football or realignment. The TV networks do. But what's unclear to me is what's ABC/ESPN's end goal? It almost feels to me that instead of paying the inflation and upward value for the media rights to these conferences, they are dictating and readjusting the value of these deals based on their own evaluation and other metrics. The networks are realizing that the current target generation demographic is not consuming live sports like the generations prior due to more TV and streaming options. ABC/ESPN will ultimately dictate the faith of the ACC. Great stuff by the way Couz!!!
Depending on who goes where; I would rather have GT over 💩. With a Big 12 with NCSU, Louisville, VPI, and GT; that’s a really good option. And, outside of the Backyard Brawl; what TV value does 💩 have?
At this point maybe we all just need a super league for power 5 and a super league for G5 and a super league for FCS. Maybe it should be done in an NFL format where the “league” schedules 6 regional opponents for you 2 permanent rivals you play every year then 4 “non-conference” games where the college can scedule home and homes and still play maybe 1 or 2 FCS schools to get the money flowing downward. That would make everything more “even” and be easier on the athletes and protect rivalries. Also every power team should be required to play at least 10 power 5 schools put of a 12 game schedule to qualify for the playoffs. 2 cupcakes a year is enough.
Off the top of my head(assuming FSU and Clemson go to the BIG10 and the SEC stands pat) I'm thinking probably UNC and Duke, Louisville, Miami. I could see the BIG12 going beyond 20 though
@@tarheel7406 1)Football-How many teams in the ACC will be ranked without FSU and Clemson? @@frictionhitch "Football-How many teams in the ACC will be ranked without FSU and Clemson?" As many or more than from the new BIG12. All Tier 2 football teams will move toward parity. You are in denial of the reality. "Basketball-UNC, DUKE, Arizona, and Kansas. That's one hell of a draw" UNC & DUKE will likely be in the P2, but if not, better staying in the ACC as already explained. If the ACC "only" lost CLENSON & FSU, no remainder would leave for the BIG12. That ACC would be more valuable and objectively better than the new BIG12.
The ACC won't totally implode. Most likely the B1G takes 2 teams and the SEC takes anywhere from 2-4 teams. That means that the ACC would have at least 11 teams, which is more than enough to continue on as a conference.
Rivalries is cool...but I believe the Big 12 can create two divisions where the East teams play each other, 7 games. And if it remains 12 games a season, split the 5 games away and home with the west teams played. I like it!

Looking at ACC schools, the Big 12 would have to know and factor in the effect moving especially VT and NCSU away from their major fan base areas which are east, northeast and southeast. Nothing in the western direction of the Big 12.
I think the BigXII have a good shot at Miami (Florida already in SEC & Fla St headed to B1G if they get AAU), but I also think Georgia Tech (AAU) and maybe even Duke (Basketball) may draw BigXII interest, if BY wants to be selective. Best Case scenario for BigXII, would be Miami, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, & Louisville, in my opinion, and if they wanted 6, you could bring NC State & Duke.
Your opinion is just as valid as anyone else’s. I did this exercise under the assumption that UNC and Virginia will likely end up in either the B1G or SEC. As for Duke, I just don’t think they move the needle enough in football. The others I’m on board with.
@CouzsCornerSports Thanks Bro... I was thinking about how 'BadAss' this would be for basketball. Talk about the best conference ever. You are 💯% correct that whatever we do is to protect past & current rivalries!!! Thanks for letting me express my thoughts.
Pitt are rivals with Cincinnati it’s called the River City Rivalry my guy, also Louisville is an hour and a half from Cincinnati so geographically they fit with the eastern teams.
I am aware of both of those things, just underestimated the value of the River City Rivalry I guess. Louisville still helps get the league a little closer to the Midwest, even though it’s not actually in the Midwest. It’s like a bridge to the Midwest so to speak.
If they go 24, i would consider Georgia Tech and Syracuse potential after you get the first 4 in. As for NC State and Virginia Tech, we will have to see how the SEC vs Big 10 Rivalries fall. Florida St might be the the loud mouth right now but the real Battle is for University North Carolina and University of Virginia. I not saying Clemson, Florida State and Miami arn't important, this is a battle for in the SEC eyes the final 2 Southern States currently not in the SEC and for the Big 10 to invade the South by taking UNC and UV. Florida St and Clemson are interesting as there bring the football value currently but are considered plus one to the SEC. And here something sad to think about. Georgia Tech, Clemson, Louisville and Florida State vs ACC week 14 match up might becoming a forgotten tradition soon for the SEC.😢
😂😂😂 keep up the faith bud. ND will stay independent for as long as possible and then sign with BIG. Too much money and influence to pass up the power 2.
I don't know if Virginia tech is even considered a rival for West Virginia anymore I think they would get smashed really bad in the Big 12. Remember some of these rivals don't exist anymore because these football programs have fell apart, look how bad Pitt is. The ACC has really destroyed these programs. But if I have my choice I'm taking pitt and Louisville first.
LOL! The ACC didn't destroy these programs. They failed for whatever reasons (donations etc) to invest the money in football through things like facilities and coaches like Clemson and FSU have. They all have needed to step up for well over a decade now. Pitt did win the ACC three years ago.
If the Big 12 doesn’t get at least 2 auto bids into the CFP the Big 12 is DOA. That means we’ve been relegated to G5 status, so watch for more regional conferences start to build.
The Big 12 is not going to take Syracuse because it's in New York and it would not only cause travel problems for some teams it would also cause some social problems. That's why the Big 12 refused to take California teams. Georgia tech may be a good ad Virginia tech well we can have them but I don't think they're that good at football anymore.

Louisville can help the big 12 conference, the big 12 conference would only be helping the other 3. The big 12 should balance it out if the Acc folds. If UNC doesn't move to either the SEC or B1G, only FSU is likely to leave the ACC.
Being a Texas Tech fan, I'd really like NC State. We've had some recent interaction with them lately, and they feel very mich like a North Carolina version of Texas Tech.
I wouldn’t mind to see all you mention plus Carolina and Duke. Imagine them on the Hardwood w the rest of the Big 12
UNC will likely go B1G or SEC.
I think its a good order. If GTech was available I would put them 1. But BIG 10 might snatch them. Of the 4 you listed I completely agree with your list.
Of these 4 schools: VT, LV, Pitt,NCSt. If it was just FSU, Clemson, UNC & UVA off the board, then: Miami, VT, Duke, LV.
No Miami
I would add those schools if possible.
Is news & review separates how Texas Tech counts their academic research.
several articles are now stating that as usual the politics are involved, and that UNC NCS and Duke are not aloud to leave the conf unless together. Not sure how true that is but it also affected what happened with the Pac when it fell apart.
UNC and NC State are tied together because they are part of the same University system. Duke is a private University and not connected to anyone. It’s possible that UNC and NC State could split but the BOG (board of governors) would have to approve it.
Best are NCSU VaTech Pitt and Louisville
Thank you
So two 12 team divisions? East and west?
Not sure the Big 12 could get 8 ACC teams.
Would be a WVU fans dream.
After SEC/B1G take the ACC teams that they want, does the B12 take 6 ACC schools so they can get the ACC's 2 auto-bids to the new CFP?
Quick comment about TV viewership. Ratings for ACC Network isn't publicized/counted. That's why the numbers for those 3 are so low. Louisville played more games on the big networks and was counted
That’s definitely a factor.
Pitt, Louisville, VaTech, NCSt do make sense.
Duke would be an idea add for BB.
Miami and Clemson are bigger gets if possible.
GaTech would be next.
Not much.
This makes so much sense, it will went get implemented. 😂😂
Nc state has a history with fb scheduling of Texas Tech.. also a lot of coaching history with ncsstate, Texas tech coaches etc.
Interesting. I wasn’t aware of that.
As long as you don’t bring up BBQ State and Tech fans get along great.
Off the top of my head(assuming FSU and Clemson go to the BIG10 and the SEC stands pat) I'm thinking probably UNC and Duke, Louisville, Miami. I could see the BIG12 going beyond 20 though
If the ACC "only" lost CLENSON & FSU, no remainder would leave for the BIG12. Why would they?
I actually agree with you on this. The Big 12 only gets four of the conference totally implodes; which it could.
@@tarheel7406
1)Football-How many teams in the ACC will be ranked without FSU and Clemson? If those schools leave the top CFB brands in the ACC would be Louisville and Miami who would be 4th and 5th in the BIG12.
2)Basketball-UNC, DUKE, Arizona, and Kansas. That's one hell of a draw
All of this equates to way more money than those schools will get playing the ACC leftovers.
(question mark)
@@frictionhitch
"Football-How many teams in the ACC will be ranked without FSU and Clemson?"
As many or more than from the new BIG12. All Tier 2 football teams will move toward parity. You are in denial of the reality.
"Basketball-UNC, DUKE, Arizona, and Kansas. That's one hell of a draw"
UNC & DUKE will likely be in the P2, but if not, better staying in the ACC as already explained.
I want VT, Pitt, Louisville, and.......Miami
Louisville is a perfect fit
Rivalries is cool...but I believe the Big 12 can create two divisions where the East teams play each other, 7 games. And if it remains 12 games a season, split the 5 games away and home with the west teams played. I like it!
Me too
I think Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh and North Carolina and North Carolina State would be good fits in the Big 12!!!
Yes they should make it 5 adding Syracuse
4 Football Basketball Schools!
Off topic: the CFB committee has discussed the idea of a 14 team playoff. It’s not official but they’re at least exploring it. PATC livestream is already underway on this as I write this.
Trust me, when all that money starts rolling in this December we will have a 16 team playoff at the very least, in 2026?
@@THEeyepatch11 Possibly. Welcome to the MiNFL (Minor League National Football League). 😂
@@xerowhiz SI did an article after the realignment of 2010 and it's basically playing out right now before our very eye's. The NIL and transfer portal didn't exist in its current form back then but I believe it's expediting their model of what college football is becoming... Minor league NFL.
I just read that as well.
BY has asked for pro rata to add 4 more schools Big and SEC Told both schools NC State and VT no.
I read that as well. I hope that person is right.
Possible, but I think Miami has a legit chance to land in the B1G.
Would be great adds.
My opinion doesn't mean crap... but here goes. Duke, UNC,NC State, Pitt, Virginia and Virginia Tech.
What do you think?
David in Dallas
Pitt Louisville Duke NC State (dream) UNC
All would be good but as a wv fan Pitt, va tech. Louisville, nc state last
Heck Yeah WVU and Pitt every year and Louisville and Cincinnati play for the keg of nails
ACC adding Notre dame. Might add some Big 12 teams.
Your mistake with the TV numbers is just looking at one year. You need to look over a period of time such as 5 years.
Pitt Gtech Syracuse and Uconn
If the Big 12 doesn’t get at least 2 auto bids into the CFP the Big 12 is DOA. That means we’ve been relegated to G5 status, so watch for more regional conferences start to build.
I’m confident they will get at least two. If not, you are right. It won’t be good.
I’d rather add Duke then Pitt because of the great basketball team and the a good football team.
Not at this time. The Big 12 and ACC needs to build a voting block Alliance against the SEC/B1G. This should be top priority right now.
ACC + WVU & three other B12 schools is much better than B12 + 4 ACC schools. ACC is in a much better position than the B12.
They may be now, but not if they lose their too 4 brands.
@@CouzsCornerSports The BIG12 has already lost its top 6 brands (net).
I doubt Virginia Tech and NCST will be available....but if so sure....however i think the more realistic schools will be GT, SYRACUSE, OR UCONN
And NC State that's a big pass no thanks.
Syracuse and UCONN? Basketball only.
@@jimmyelliott-eb8hy I don't see the big 12 been interested in Syracuse Boston college or Wake Forest and has already turned down cal, Stanford and SMU last year.
Virginia Tech and NC State fit better in the big12 than they did in the ACC. They both have the old-school diehard fan bases that the teams do in the BIG12.
Absolutely
Couz, go look up revenue rankings year to year. Louisville is consistent in the top 25 for revenue generation. I say that to further your Louisville argument.
Great point.
Sounds good to me
Va Tech & Pitt, that’s it. Let the rest go to the group of 5
bring back USF v. WVU, just like the Pat White days
Louisville can help the big 12 conference, the big 12 conference would only be helping the other 3. The big 12 should balance it out if the Acc folds. Louisville, Duke, Uconn from the east coast Washington state, Oregon state from the west with Gonzaga basketball only. Unc,fsu,Clemson, Miami will go to the sec.
NCS? Not sure they'd be happy here.
NC State better be happy if anyone takes them and they don't have to go to the the Big East.
If the ACC falls apart PITT will be begging to play the backyard brawl regardless of whether they get a BIG12 invite or not. The Backyard Brawl isn't going anywhere. It is too valuable to both schools.
Why did PITT wait so long to resume that series?
@@tarheel7406 Because PITT used to have more value than they do today and WV used to have less. When football started YALE was the largest brand by far. Times change. The fact that they renewed the game is evidence of that fact.
PITT needs to rebuild their brand. Rivalries help with that. WV needs to continue to build their brand. Rivalries help. Both schools will continue the game. It is good for them both.
@@frictionhitch Dude. we're talking recent history not when YALE was good. PITT and VATECH each elected to not renew their rivalries with WVU after the BIGEAST collapse until recently. Also both have apparently been hostile to inviting WVU to the ACC.

So should call this the Rivalry is everything ???
VT”s problem is that after “Enter Sandman”, everybody changes the channel…..
😂😂
Could see Big 10 picking up Notre Dame and FSU soon. Notre dame is feeling the pinch in the new playoff system
I could see SEC pick the other top two ACC programs.
Then the SEC and Big 10 close ranks and adopt a nfl style playoff system and do away with division championships but completely cut out the rest of the college world and grab big $$ franchises m ESPN and Fox
Clemson,Pittsburg,Syracuse,Duke,NCSTate,should-be-the--targets-of-the-big-12-..
Why would there be mutual interest?
Maybe even Duke over NCST
IMHO, the ACC does survive because Notre Dame realizes that it cannot be independent in this new playoff era. Notre Dame will join the ACC since all of its other sports are in the ACC.
Best fit: FSU, Miami, Clemson and Georgia Tech. FSU and Miami because they're state-funded schools like UCF and Florida wants to keep all of that travel and tourism money. Clemson and Georgia Tech because the BIg 10 doesn't want them and they're too scared to go to the SEC.
Notre Dame is not joining the ACC or Big 12 in football.
I think FSU, Clemson and Miami could all end up in the P2.
Alright bud.... Guessing UNC, FSU, Virginia, Clemson, ND and Miami are off the board then My 4 would be 1) Louisville, 2) Pitt, 3) VT, 4) Duke or Syracuse if Duke is off the board
Fair enough. Maybe I should do another one looking at Duke, Cuse and maybe GT
@@CouzsCornerSports If you do those 3 add Wake to it for the content.... Honestly BC is the only team that doesn't have a shot out of the present ACC....

@@CouzsCornerSports I think the top 3 teams from the ACC are UNC, FSU and Virginia. If the SEC and BIG both add two teams would the BIG get ND this time around?
