Avios has designed a beautiful twin-engine Albatross HU-16 flying boat. What could be better than a large monohull flying boat gracing the skies or taxing across a lake? This excellent plane is made of strong EPO foam and comes with scale plastic fittings for an extremely realistic look. It is painted in a US Navy rescue scheme of seagull gray, yellow and white for easy visibility under all conditions.
The Albatross HU-16 came into service with the United States Air Force in 1949 and was primarily designed as an amphibious plane for search and rescue missions. It was extensively used for combat search and rescue in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. As an amphibian, it could land on both land and open sea and was optimized for 4-foot (1.2m) seas but could land in heavier seas.
The Albatross is well powered by twin Aerostar 3536-850KV motors with scale 3-blade 10x6 propellers. The 30A reversing ESCs make it easier to navigate around the water. The addition of a water rudder makes maneuvering on water even easier. The built-in flaps provide plenty of lift and make landings and takeoffs look easy. The Albatross provides a great presence in the air that will look outstanding at any time and can easily do scale passes that all enthusiasts enjoy.

Oh Captain Blaz! I feel for you, I have that particular T shirt... the maiden flight, Cof G too far aft, the sudden steep climb on take off, the tucking into turns, the horrible feeling in the stomach as you realise that this is not going to end well....
Then the crunch, the shocked silence as you try to take in what happened and then the slow walk of shame as you try to show you are a cool dude and not crying inside.
All part of the hobby. Every plane has an expiration date, some sooner than others.

Crashes are the best part of the videos. It shows that you're just like the rest of us, we've all had crashes.
There was a time when we built our models from balsa. We would take weeks, or months to build planes in the winter and then fly as the weather cleared in the early spring. On more than one occasion I left the house with several new planes to return with one that was reduced to balsa sawdust. You would take the walk of shame into the field, pick up the pieces, place them in a box and take the pieces home. Sometimes there was not enough left to take home. According to FB, this model is already back together and ready for Captain Blaz to fly again. And he will, and he will conquer this model.
Don’t give up Captain Blaž. If it makes you feel any better I crashed 3 planes at the weekend including my new EFX racer on it’s maiden flight. We all have bad days. We learn from them and move on. Never doubt your skills. If it was easy everyone could do it. We all love you both so chin up throttle-up it’s a new flight ✈️. Salute from the UK 🇬🇧

I salute you Capt Blaz. Dont give up keep on flying. Fix that thing and put it back in the air. We've all been there and loose a little confidence after a crash. The best way to fix it is get right back in the air with a plane thats an old favorite. As always thanks for sharing and keep the videos coming.
Thanks for another great video! Even though it did not turn out as expected, it shows a true side of modelling. It looked like the battery may have shifted back after bouncing around in all that wind and made the model tail heavy, not the captains fault! It happens to all of us at one time or another. Keep the videos coming, please.

2. Too strong winds no good for maiden
3. No boat for rescue!!!!!

A year later ..I STILL can't stop laughing! I love to use that line on gusty days on final approach when the plane drops half a meter .. semi-expectedly.. one meter above an obstacle.. even better is watching a plane take off @ full power in an otherwise good climb, but careening up and down like ice in a cocktail shaker.. JUST BARELY CLEARING an obstacle!🤣

Capt Blaz that wind was incredibly crazy. WOW i'm amazed you control it as long as you did. Good job and have fun repairing the plane.
Got a stroke when saw the plane turning left and dive into the water!! Seemed a wingtip stall but with so much wind just a crazy like Capt. Robert wants to fly to show us the new born plane. And he hasn't censored, so i love these two guys even more! :)

Capt Blaz', don't give up it happens to us all, no big deal, looks fixable. Looked really good in the air. It seemed to me it might have been a little tail heavy? I don't know, maybe the wind. It also looked as if it wanted to tip stall but HEY its ok. I still love it and look forward to the fixed plane video.

Airspeed too low. Captain Blaz is too used to the Nitro engine sound. Next time will be much better!

Those big planes are always under powered. Thats why I dont buy them. They should be putting larger motors in them. The battery size gave that away.

in my opinion as a CG is tail heavy....so just for a suggestion if noticed something wrong try to land immediately !!!.... and the stall turns with out power take care about it mate!!!........ok it is a test flight I know the feeling.....don't give up my friend better luck next time.

Captain Blaz, Been there done that! The winds were hazardous and the nearby hills make the winds even more turbulent. This plane like the C-130 needs a lot of speed in the turns. Big salute to you and Captain Robert!

Chin up captain Blaz, apart from the wind It flew better with speed, it also looked tail heavy. The control May of been it wasn't Binded properly!! When binding to the receiver you should ensure the transmitter is at least 1 meter away from the plane!! 2.4ghz needs to transmit alternating its frequency it need space. Hope this helps. It's an exciting hobby with ups n downs, but it's people like you both involved in the hobby that makes it great as you say eh,,,eh!! 🤕👍😊😊

Please do the maiden 2 again yourself same place then the maiden 3 let heir capitan Robert take off from the grass!! It was not the wind. Only too much tail heavy or too much uptrim or both.
What fabulously awesome attitude. Planes will at some point have a “mishap”, but you show the best of our hobby with your attitude that it WILL be fixed and come back for more.

Capt Blaž: Do not despair! The wind was like a scale half gale and it was a cross wind! There could also be an issue with the radio, but nevertheless, as the saying goes: "if you aren't crashing, you aren't flying"! And it's a foamie, so a quick gluing and you'll be back at it. Believe me when I tell you that we the viewers and subscribers love the Petrinčič airmen of Slovenia, come hell or high water - come crash or successful flight! You WILL fly this bird again! Capt Balz does like to fly slowly lol but there’s nothing wrong in that, this plane will fly really nice at slow speeds, the only problem was that it was too tail heavy and he didn’t recognise it until it was too late 🤦🏼♂️ did exactly the same thing with my durafly Excalibur a few weeks ago except I realised what was wrong and managed to get down straight away.
@@TheMuddatrucker Maybe, but main reason was as was mentioned in first comment, too slow for this setup, it was telling him several times and finally if feld trough left wing with no chance to save it. I don´t want to be rude, but heavy plane, wind, slow flight and bad setup of weight as you saying, too much reasons to lose plane, istn it? :-D

Jan Černý but you can’t call this a setup! All this is is a tail heavy plane so for that you’re right! You wouldn’t fly a tail heavy plane slowly but the thing is capt blaz didn’t realise it was tail heavy! And I’m pretty sure if he did then he wouldn’t have flown it so slowly but when this plane is balanced correctly it will fly nice and slow without tip stalling so I’m not wrong in what I was saying.
e30kitty I disagree! If the c of g had been correct then this plane will fly nice and slowly without risking a tip stall, capt blaz didn’t recognise the tail heavy characteristics so kept flying slowly, if he had recognised them I’m sure he’d have increased his airspeed and brought it down.

I have their Yak-52 it was tail heavy too,barely made it back on the ground in one piece. I’ve been flying RC for 15 years and have never crashed a model,came close that day

When I first started flying RC a few years ago I got so sad when I would crash a plane. The guys at the field would just say "...fix it and fly again. It happens to everyone."

only that will be difficult because..... yea look at my username. I also want a fursuit from like 1000 euros and I need money and I am only 15. I like spent already 1,5k on my rc planes (and car), and now my other hobby is also expensive. luckily when I turn 16, I can do a vacance job, earning 1000 euros in the month

and btw maybe put a gyro on your plane, so it flies stable, and it will also help control the airplane if you lose an motor
Mine ALWAYS fly better with glue and tape. That model doesnt like wind. I was told by many pilots those big water planes are like that.
@@scottfirman my avanti would have flown better too i think, but it is too far gone, i tried to repair it but it there is just too much damage, because when the pilot was doing a takeoff, the nose broke off because the nosegear strut was too weak, it broke off and he lifted off, turned off the throttle, this caused it to stall and it flew right into a ditch, and the fuselage was destroyed after that(and also a piece of foam flew right into the turbine and it was totally shredded) and also i dont think it will stay together in a jet because of the speed and the G's you pull. but i got it for free after it crashed so i need to learn to fly with jets first because i only fly with a funcub, an easystar and a trex 450.

Sorry Capt. Blaz about the crazy wind and the crash. I crashed a few last year, even my favorite helicopter, a T REX 600 electric. I feel bad after crashing. I hope you don't give up on the Albatross and Pilot Robert will foam tac so a successful flight will be there for you.
Oh Yeah the cg looked a little aft of optimal. But the main problem was flying to slow in the turns which a lot of other viewer's noticed also. I fly in wind all the time and I had to learn how to adjust to tricky wind at my field. So don't give up Captain Blaz learn from your mistakes and become an even better Pilot. I salute you Petrencic brother's for bringing us these entertaining videos. Dis is it....now cut quick!

Captain Blaz, I subscribed to the channel just today , hey! DON'T QUIT!!! It was far too windy for a maiden and you guys didn't bring a boat. The fact that the float did not go to the Black Sea and came back to you is a sign for you to NOT QUIT!! :)

Every one of us that spends any time in this hobby has had exactly the same experience, often more than once!!! Wind is our biggest enemy, ya just have to get back on the horse. We want you to fly again Capt Blaz! I crashed the other day on a maiden just because I didn't think about the nose cone cutting too much of the thrust because it covered the prop lol.
