This is the video that brought me to your channel two or three days ago. I built a Balsa USA Taube in the 1980's and when I saw it in the corner of the garage the other day it made me want to search for flying videos, so here I am. I've spent the past two days watching your channel, then came back to rewatch this one. What a super video. My Taube was powered by an O.S. .40 FP, and even that seemed like too much power. It's odd that the plans say it can use up to a .60 two-stroke. I can't imagine flying it with a .60. Thank you for your channel.

I've seen that model with the option to twist the wings like the original. It doesn't have enough dihedral for flying by rudder only.
But it looks nice and was piloted perfectly 😉

I have the Balsa USA 90" version which has ailerons and it flies beautifully, I love this plane. This was the very first warbird. It was supposed to be only for surveillance until one co-pilot decided to drop a grenade (a giant device in those days) on a camp, they also brought pistols and rifles with them and this was the birth of air combat. Capt. Blaz, try flying the one with ailerons and you will change your opinion about the Taube. One more thing, check for flexing of the control rods, it's such a long rod that they have had common issues with controls if the rods are flexing. I enjoy watching you guys, you're the best!

Great looking scale. Crazy rudder set up in that it is tapered smaller in the back making it not very effective. I LOVE the sound of the 4 stroke engine and the scarf in the wind is especially cool.
You could always build a new wing with AILERONS, but that rudder is still a hindrance with this plane.... very little stabilization or control.
BIG SALUTE to Captain Blaz for keeping it together.

I prefer Wannabedove as the name. 11/10 to Capt. Blaz for getting this down Intact. Most of the airflow to rudder is disturbed by the pilot's head & cowling, especially in the right hand turn, where you don't have the torque from that beautiful, sexi Saito 40 to assist (enough to compensate for lack of ailerons). Maybe use clear plastic to enlarge the rudder? The slight gull wing also impedes steerage. Most entertaining! Big saute to the Kostenjavica Kittyhawks from the Surbiton Sparrows..

Have you checked the lateral balance of the model? It may be slightly left wing heavy and need a bit of weight added to the right wing tip. Also, check for any warping in the wing itself. If the balance is fine, there is no warping in any of the flying surfaces and the engine thrust line is correct, then the model should fly straight. A bigger prop to lower the engine revs would also help slow it down. The real Taube was no speed demon after all. 😉. But , beautifully flown Capt Blaz.

You need down thrust and right thrust specially on a three channel plane very important! Add some thrust angles and it will fly much better.

Maybe we will play with that in the future.

It was fantastic to see you get that plane down Cpt Blaz. A few times I thought it could end different. Great filming Pilot Robert.

I agree with Mordhorst , not enough dihedral for flying by rudder only. Well handled Capt. Blaz!

Sitting at the flying field taking a Pilot Robert and CPT Blaz break, the flight was epic with a blast from the past, great looking Bird, and zooming, oh yeah, Jeff in LA USA

great flying Blaz that was funny, but imagine the real one would have been as scary to fly ,this plane is from the early days of flight ,looks great model but could improve it with a little work on rudder or wings

Nice old vintage plane and the sound of the Saito engine just adds to the whole atmosphere. Nice flying by captain Blaz .

Hi guys, I think you need to look a little closer at how that model is set up with regards to Gspot etc as my father had one of that same model which was from a Balsa USA kit and it flew much much better than the way you experienced it, it could be rolled infact quite well and still with only rudder and elevator ours was powered with an open rocker enya and could be flown very enthusiastically withno drama at all, as an aside our common friend Andrew who visited you a couple years ago from Adelaide would also remember the fun we had with the Taube
