Just a guess since I haven't played it, but I'd think you could house rule away the main con (~12:21) by having the two pickers be whoever is behind in points at the time (vs. a fixed rotation). You'd still need a reasonable way to deal with ties, but it seems like it would provide better balance across many hands.

It's clever that the choices here are so balanced. Though sometimes it's those wrinkles / lack of uniformity that give suits their own texture and character (think Yoktai Septet or the Hearts)!
I wonder what would happen if each player chose a rule card to *not* be used in the hand, like Nyet? Maybe start with more than 4 cards to veto (number of players + 2)? Or is it too derivative?..

This feels very uninteresting to me, but that might be me not being in the target demographic. I would rather play Chronicle which also has a goal aspect, but feels like more interesting choices to me.

Please do a month about Unique and Lost games (Lostnuary maybe?) like マストフォローの建塔士 (Masuto Forō no Kentōshi) (trick-taking + dexterity) and ホシゾラトリテ (Starry Sky Trick-Taking) (trick-taking with a drawing board). These games are practically lost, since just a few people have them and there is no information about them anywhere.

So, did you say this game is balanced?😆 I'm, gonna have to watch this one over again. Unfortunately it dropped just as Captain Jonathan Archer was about to take the Enterprise NX-01 out for quick run around the galaxy, and while your videos are definitely worth watching, I'm afraid you just can't compete when up against T'pol! 🤣🖖
