    Professor Ty just doesn’t miss. Very timely posting of these last few videos as I’m covering those system components in school currently. Reading the chapters and listening to lectures, I still come here to learn something new that wasn’t mentioned.

    Being a reefer technician on board merchant vessels and having replaced this same compressor a couple of times before, I was really impressed by this video. It's just nice to see the inner workings plus the detailed information about how things work. Thank you so much for this video. More power to your channel!

      Ohhh I have questions.
      Are your units air cooled or water?

      @@love2hvac I work with refrigerated reefer containers and we have both air and water-cooled reefers on board.

    Thank you Ty. Great video. I know it is just scratching the surface, but it is a great introduction. The most important, I think, is that you highlight the potential causes that killed that compressor.

      Thank you. Once I get the basic videos done I plan to do some advanced videos. I also work part time for a very large compressor manufacture so I have some great insight.

      Thanks, it's sad to see this beauty thrown out. It was in New York, and I could not afford to get it back to Texas. So much information was left out but the link in the description could cover most of it.

    Ty. I have a York brand condenser and evaporator. The old unit label reads like this H1DA024S06A. So the label says a 2.1/2 ton unit. I guess that 24 means tonnage,🤔.I can’t find the same one anymore. The unit is over 15 years old. I found a condenser and evaporator at 2 tons. Is It ok ,if I replace the old one with a 2 ton condenser and evaporator? Same brand ! Thanks!

    • @thisisyourcaptainspeaking2259
      @thisisyourcaptainspeaking2259 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I guess the 24 indicates 24,000 BTU, convert that to tons. You'd need the matching orifice for the new 2 Ton compressor. Maybe the evaporator already has the 2-ton orifice?

    • @fabiodarocha2842
      @fabiodarocha2842 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thisisyourcaptainspeaking2259 yes, but since it will be a new evaporator coil. It will come with a txv metering device.

      208/230V 1 Phase R22 Compressor (22,600 BTU)
      I can't say without knowing the load but 2 tom (24000 btu]] matching set is pretty close.
      I like 404A or 407c depending on the application but even these are on the chopping block now.

    Why did this compressor fail.

    • @love2hvac
      @love2hvac  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nothing in the building had a compressor for it.
      My guess, during remodeling, they replaced the equipment and somebody pulled this for a core and never retrieved it. Then the building was shit down for a year and now different companies preparing for the reopening and cleaning just want it gone.
      I wish I had more time to examine it

    This is a suction cut off unloading. Not a hot gas bypass.

      For others following here is more information
