Thank you Drop in the Bucket & Thank you Henry- it is our responsibility to take care of each other. we are all one. and we must embrace the crazies who leave negative, selfish comments because they just don't get it.
Incredible, inspirational. Loved the video, what you have created will help bring additional attention to these third world countries that are in such need of the very basics that we take for granted everyday. If you have never traveled to these places than you really should keep your negative thoughts to yourself. Henry, the faces of these kids finally able to have and drink clean water makes my heart swell. My only child was killed 11/25/10 by a driver that should have never been on the road.
Giving people access to clean water doesn't create dependency, it creates independence. In the same way that continually giving people food creates dependency, but teaching people how to grow their own food makes them no longer dependent on aid.
Me again, I am going to continue her legacy in working with the school and communities she so loved. I recently had a friend of Raina's whom she worked with over there take some great pictures and one is from the school that she used to visit weekly. They have one outside water pump for the kid's to drink from. The water is a combination of rain water and bore water. I am just recently able to start thinking about what a difference I can make in memory of my daughter for these beautiful people.
This is continued from my last post. My daughter was 27 years old and had so much more to give to the world. Her name is Raina and she was involved with a project in Northern Fiji. Her first visit there she did not want to leave, she was able to go back five months later and got hired to work fours months on creating a sustainable eco-friendly Island from scratch to benefit the local fijian people. She was a changed woman when she came back, she learned to live with less. I hope to travel there.
Why can't they figure out how to purify water? The ancient Greeks and Egyptians would strain water in fabric bags and then boil it. Westerners have sent billions in aid to sub-Saharan Africa and it's still a basket case. Africans need to take care of themselves.
