I’ve seen a lot of stories and videos on Tony Alva...this one by far is the most impressive to date. So glad to see Tony find great peace while still inspiring the next generation!

Never expected to hear this message from this person that I have no idea who he is but nevertheless it is right on point and correct. We live chain up to society and the things we believe are essential and necessary but the reality is that we are self destructing our lives and we live very shallow and miserable existences. There is something about God and giving to others that liberate your soul and gives you life and purpose.
Great job Tony for this message! We need to stop and think what we are doing with your lives and change. Make God your number one priority and see how your life is transformed. Stop believing the lies!
Good on Tony for finding his center, but I think it's really cool that he's reaching out to the kids and showing them an alternative to a compromised life. Being from the northeast, I gotta take a minute to drop my innate cynicism and translate Tony's Californese, but yeah, I think he's really onto something by sharing skating. It inspires me.
It's easy for him to say do good ,cuz he had lived life already.
Youngsters want and need experience things,but kinda helps to tell ppl to do good even we know already.

I've followed Alva's career since the early 80's and he was quite the egomaniac and like he said it was all about Tony. This tony is amazing. I am so proud of who he has become as a human being. The whole giving back to his community is simply wonderful. Keep grinding.

So many stupid comments here for a video with a positive message. Yeah, its essentially an advertisement for Vans but that does nothing to squash what hes saying. Also, he never once says anything about Jesus. Just that he thinks in this part of his life that love is something to be valued and shared. How can argue with that? And who cares that hes got BMW keys? Hes had a successful life and his car doesn't necessarily reflect everything about his character. Despite any flaws the dude might have hes spreading positivity here. PMA.

Anybody else notice how the African American man in line was portrayed while Alva was going on about negative influences such as drugs and homelessness. Interesting how edits are used to portray an underlying misrepresentation, while it seems the man in line was doing nothing suspicious to be included in such edits. At the end of the clip this was an advert, beware of portrayal and representation. Even skaters discriminate.

Truth.... grew up a few years behind TA. From early teens I was chasin the buzz , trying to escape and chasin the easy way out. It's easy to be a copout, but the longer you are one , the harder it is to change. I'm on a hard road back and i see the light it's what I'm following now, -- Drugs will absolutely F your life up. Stay clear

Cab, Hosoi, Alva.....all three of these shredding pioneers of skateboarding all have found Christ and continue to spread Gods word across the world and thats rad. Hosoi has one of the best stories i have ever heard about his path through the industry and how he found the Lord. I would incourage anyone, skater or not to check out his story here on youtube about how he found the Lord. Very inspiring.

TH-cam took the words of the title of this short film "Pass the Bucket" and displayed a Kentucky Fried Chicken ad, while a family was "passing the bucket" of KFC around.
The mark of a true warrior is kindness and strength in equal measure. Ego centricity is boy energy, outward focus is adult male energy. So many of us who grew up from the 60's onwards inhabited our boy energy for far too long thinking it was something worth preserving at all costs in the face of such poor leadership around us. Finding the kind, strong warrior is the sign of a mature adult - male or female. Im glad Tony has transitioned and put down his anger and pain where ever that came from.

Didn’t know Tony believed in God but hearing how his life changed it all makes sense. Jay Adams, Christian Hosoi, Cab, Lance, etc all found a new life in Christ. It’s funny how all the haters will say “whatever man that’s a crutch blah blah blah...” Ok a crutch that’ll turn your life around! Drugs, alcohol,money,fame aren’t? Everyone who’s been down that path and made it knows that life is just empty lies. Rock on Tony! 💪

Tony used to give us free skate decks back in the 80’s when his “ALVA” (AWA) factory was on Redwood Avenue in Venice/Marina Del Rey. The guy was cool. I’ll never forget him as a poor little kid trying to be a skater.
I now love Tony's sense of self and humility. He seems to have had the same awakening as the late, great Jay Adams, Jay Moriarty, and the still loving life Gerry Lopez.
Tony was the best, Jay Adams was the best but self delusion and self destruction took it's toll as Tony freely admits.
I,m not particularly Religions anymore having seen the corruption and hatred within organised Religion but I believe in a creator and have an appreciation for Spiritual awareness which is healthy for body and mind.
Humility isn't a lack of confidence or a downgrading of one's self, simply an acceptance that others are our equals matter how successful and famous we are.

Another good lesson i think is teaching people the difference between weed and "drugs". Most people back in the day all of it was mixed and weed was seen just as bad as the rest. God created weed. GOD DOESNT MAKE MISTAKES. Teach them weed is where the line is drawn. Anything after that is just a slope down wards.
The kid’s face as Tony was explaining his path to God. That was a very influential message there. I think that kid’s gonna carry that forever. I wonder where he is now. I hope he knows God.

This is really cool to see. I was like most kids in the 70s with the Alva board and looking up to him as the ultimate skater at that time. Unfortunately he also had a reputation for being incredibly arrogant and basically an ass. Which I guess was also the key to his drive and success. It's just nice to see him turn it all around on a personal level at this stage in his life
