    I’m really enjoying your tutorials. I have a graphite and charcoal artist, and I’ve just started working with different painting mediums. Keep up the good work I appreciate you!

    You are very talented. I enjoyed listening to you reasoning out your moves. I'm a watercolorist; but, I enjoy watching all mediums.....especially animal portraits, since that is what I seem to be doing the most.

      Thank you Judy! I may actually do a water color here and there. I love all the mediums as well! I am now up to over 85 art videos so there is lots to choose from! Thanks for watching. Nettie Kaye

      Thanks, I will!
      Only been painting 9 months.!
      I have done over 50 paintings and sold 11 of them!
      I am a Dog groomer, and thought if I learned to do dog portraits, I may earn some extra $$$ !!

    I love it, how do you know which colors you have to use?

    • @NettieKStudio
      @NettieKStudio  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It takes a lot of practice, but I think about a few things. The lights have a warmer color like white with yellow and the shadows will be in the opposite range...like purples or violets.
      I teach a bit of color theory in my academy. If I want to draw attention to an area, or make it exciting, I use complimentary colors. Here are the three basic combinations: Red with Green/ Blue with Orange/ and Yellow with purple. Those combinations will give the most vibrant feel to your paintings.

      thanks, it is v helpful

      I may do a special video soon with the various color combinations for different dogs where I will name the colors in oil and acrylic. That might be even more helpful! Thanks for asking. Be sure to take a look at my previous Dog Demonstration Art Instruction Video from 2015. It seems to be very popular and has a lot of information. A slightly different technique.

      Stay tuned! I am working on a few new videos that will cover some of the basics. The next pet video will be coming out in a few days. It is a smaller, less "colorful", portrait that may help you:)

    Can i cover an oil painting with SOMETHING so i can use the canvas for another project ??? THANKS

    • @NettieKStudio
      @NettieKStudio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Michel, the only thing you can cover an oil painting with is another layer of oil paint. I sometimes cover a mildly used canvas with titanium white and let it dry for a few weeks. The other thing to do is get some loose canvas and re-stretch it over the bars. (after taking off the old canvas. I buy it in rolls. Hope that helps!

    I feel like we missed some important steps from the time you stopped filming and came back with the final painting. I need to see how to get from where you stopped to where you ended.

    • @NettieKStudio
      @NettieKStudio  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      When I started filming for TH-cam, I would bite off way more than I could chew! I chose huge projects that caused me to have to edit out some of the important parts . My current lessons are in smaller bites so that you should be able to learn the vital bits of information. Keep watching. I am getting better every week! Thanks, Nettie Kaye

    You need to soften the lines, this painting looks exactly I used to paint in art school
