    Just a tip about eggs, I noticed you placed the egg back into the box with the tip up, but you should always store eggs with the tip down, so that the little air chamber inside the egg is compressed by the egg white, that will delay the development of bacteria and the egg will stay fresh longer. And also, eggs should be cleaned but not washed in water until the moment you will use them, because the egg shell is very porous, and contact with water dissolves the protective cuticle inside the shell that prevents contamination by bacteria.

    I love your videos Shea!
    Just a couple of notes - the FDA does not test dietary supplements before they are marketed to consumers. In addition, many vitamins are toxic in the wrong quantities. And some vitamins your body just expels if it already has enough because it can’t absorb any more (this happens with water soluble vitamins like C, B, and folic acid - the body does not store these, so it just expels any excess). I’d always recommend checking if your doctor can run tests to see if you are deficient in something, then address that specific deficiency with vitamins. Otherwise you are paying for expensive pee at best, or poisoning yourself at worst!
    Another thing - the term “superfood” is a marketing term, not a health term. It’s not used by dieticians, nutrition scientists, or doctors, it doesn’t have any actual relevant meaning in their world. It’s just a marketing term to get you to buy something! Superfoods can be good for you, or more often than not they are just like any other food, and only exceptionally beneficial if they have something in them that you don’t already have in your diet. So the next time you hear or use the term superfood just know it is more about advertising than health.
    And finally - eating blended up things in a smoothie is not the same as eating the whole food. They’re not nutritionally equivalent. Fibre for example is lost if you blend a fibre rich food into a smoothie. Blending breaks down insoluble fibre, so it isn’t available to the body. So make sure you’re eating whole foods in addition to blended foods, if you eat a lot of smoothies.

    I would suggest looking into this because im no expert of course.. but as far as I know, drinking caffeine on an empty stomach increases your stress hormones and you end up with high cortisol levels for the rest of the day. It can make you feel crappy and cause you to gain weight/ have a hard time losing it. If you’re going to fast I think it should include liquids as well especially coffee. Since I’ve made the change of eating a healthy breakfast before my coffee I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my health and mental health. Give it a try or look into it! I really recommend 😊

    Thanks for mentioning that intermittent fasting isn't for everyone. I tried it. I just couldn't sustain without my breakfast. Especially when I'm working all morning. Literally thought I was going to pass out of hunger. I'm.much happier having my breakfast and then starting my day. 💪

I love watching your upbeat videos but I also understand life happens while we are living. It seems like when we are in the mist of genuine success we get thrown a curve ball. God has you Shea. That cold plunge tub looks amazing! I don't get that involved in it- but at the end of every shower, I turn the hot water completely off & then try to stay under the shower for at least 2mins. I do notice I feel much more energized & focused, afterwards. Also- I'm so happy about your parents' chickens... farm fresh eggs & poultry are SO much healthier than store-bought. My husband & I are going to start raising chickens in the spring & I can't wait!

    Yes! Sleeping on a flatter pillow definitely helps, especially if you are diagnosed with migraines. Hyperextending your neck can trigger a migraine. It can also result in a tension headache that leads to a migraine. Also, while we are here...I want to make it clear I'm talking about actual diagnosed migranes which is a neurological condition--not just a really bad headache. As someone who is in my late 40s and has had them since my teens (they're hereditary), it's very frustrating to see the term misused. Since it is so often misused, I feel the need to clarify that I am not doing that.
    Please, don't overuse/misuse "migraine," and please respect that there is so much more going on than physical pain. It's a neurological condition, so some people describe it as similar to epilepsy. Many of the same medications are used for both.
    Sorry to get on a soapbox, but it's frustrating to see some people trying to get attention for a bad headache by calling it a migraine. Then, when others who actually have the diagnosis say something, they are dismissed as attention-seeking as well.
    This happens with a lot of medical issues, and it should not happen with any of them, IMHO. I can only speak on my experience. Please, treat each other with kindness and encourage others to think before they speak. Thank you.

      Agree! I have a brain injury and have had migraines ever since ( plus daily mild headaches). It really gets me when people compare to a hangover or caffeine withdrawal headache, or when they give recommendations (my gramma lol). No they aren't triggered by foods or my menstrual cycle 🤦🏻‍♀️😩

    • @EweTube4
      @EweTube4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have never been diagnosed with migraines, but I get them. Not much any more, thank God. I lose my vision, but first get auras. I have thrown up. I need to rest in a completely dark room.
      After sinus surgery in 2o12, I rarely get them.
      I too, get annoyed when people feel a bad headache is a migraine. But, it does not keep me up at night, I just ignore some complainers.

    • @Lucinda_Jackson
      @Lucinda_Jackson ปีที่แล้ว

      OMG, THIS!!!! I, too, have suffered with migraines since my teens and even had a lot of headaches as a child. I had several kinds. I'm not sure if the cluster headaches or the chronic migraines were the worst. My chronically would literally last for up to 6 months! The idiot woman who sat behind me at work used to claim migraines and call in constantly then show up at work with stories of all she did the day and night before - going out to dinner, to the movies, etc. 😳 When I had one (except for some of the longer chronic ones that were, thank God, less intense) I couldn't eat for the most part and I certainly couldn't handle the noise and bright screen of a movie! I'd be down for the count, in a dark room with an eye mask to keep out all light, no noise, a bucket beside the bed and, at their worst, I'd bang my head against the side if the bath tub because that felt better than the headache.
      Thankfully, they're down to a full roar. Partly because I no longer work so less stress, but mostly because of keto. It was like magic! And if I slide off and start eating a regular American diet (stupid pandemic LOL) they come roaring back. It's enough to keep me in line. So much freedom!
      And for the person who referenced menstrual cycles - hormones can greatly influence some people's migraines. They sure did mine. I'm surprised I didn't have a zillion kids - no migraines while pregnant. Mine are also triggered by atmospheric pressure changes among a slew of other things.

    • @caitlin862
      @caitlin862 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Lucinda Jackson my references to cycles and foods was my particular situation as a tbi survivor. They aren't exacerbated by things that make other types of migraines worse.

    After using my eggs- I rinse the eggshells and heat them in an oven for 12 mins at 210 degrees. Then I crush them and pulverize them in a coffee grinder. (One I use only for eggshells). The eggshell powder is really healthy for your teeth, hair, skin, nails and so much more! You can add it to your açaí bowl:) I add it to empty gel capsules and take a couple each day.

    I'm one of the rare people who feels better after Googling my symptoms. I've thought I had cancer or something terminal only to find it was something common and totally benign. My mom is the same way. So I guess I learned it from her. She used to be a nurse and I guess I've picked up on what to look for and the knowledge that it's usually not life threatening.

    Googling my symptoms is one of the best things ive ever done. Was feeling physically bad for YEARS and doctors kept saying that its in my head or that i m depressed while i was suffering, to then find out i have an autoimmune disease. Im sure of this since i asked the doctor to test me for very specific things that i found online and it came back positive. Same with my eating disorder. If doctors would do their job, i wouldnt have to google it

    • @fishchick72
      @fishchick72 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed, doctors nowadays are so unhelpful that you really have to do your own research. I even had a doctor write down a diagnosis on paper & told me to go home & google it. He could not be bothered to educate me about my diagnosis of eosinophilic esophagitis.

    • @CheriJ11
      @CheriJ11 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think that sometimes we need to be our own advocates. Many years ago, my doctor was trying to figure out what was wrong with me and why I was getting sick so often. But everything she tested me for was negative. Then I asked her to test my blood sugars (an 8 hour glucose tolerance test) and we found out I had hypoglycemia. Every time my sugar levels were low (several times a day), I was vulnerable to any viruses around me. I worked at a bank so I was in contact with the public all day. Once I started eating on a prescribed schedule that kept my sugar levels stable, I stopped catching every cold and flu bug around me!

    Vitamins are so expensive especially if you don’t need them - you’ll just be flushing the excess down the toilet. Go off them for a few weeks & then have a blood test to see what specific ones, if any, you need. This was the best advice I was ever given because I discovered I didn’t need any supplements at all except for Vitamin D which I take only in winter. Feel so much better (not nauseous every day for a start) & saving money every month.

    OK Shea, not sure why you don’t understand the concept of the ice plunging people up north do it in the lakes lol but it helps to circulate blood which helps to control his cortisol which causes inflammation which causes swelling so he is actually helping with those problems and by eliminating or decreasing those issues he is a much happier person. For somebody that probably has no issues. You wouldn’t understand those things. So this was a good share. Thanks hubby.❤

    You’re flatter pillow! Has the same effect but better than not wearing your bra but both of those go hand-in-hand together because when we lay down everything flattens out, moves up top a little bit so I can constrict your airway so laying flat versus propped up, helps you to breathe better.

Thinking the minerals and cold shower (at end of warm water) sounds like good ideas to try! Thank you for good info to this 63 year young grandma! ❤

    I’ve been watching “Huberman Lab” podcasts here in TH-cam. He has a great one on intermittent fasting for fat loss. I’ve listened to so many that I can’t remember which one I heard it on, but he is a fan of the cold therapy. I have four-yes four-autoimmune diseases and apparently the cold therapy is great for that inflammation. I’ve just been doing the kinda cold bath. I’m working my way down to the really cold in very small baby steps.
    He has a great one on forming habits too.

    If my dad had never googled his symptoms... he would be dead now. He slipped on the ice and hurt his back. He was bedridden for months (and this is the type of man who can never just relax - he HAS to be working on something somehow). He went to multiple different doctors and all of them told him that his back would get better on its own and that he just needed to "throw away the crutches"... My dad researched his own symptoms and finally found a doctor who took the time to LISTEN to what my dad had to say and to actually look into his situation. It turns out that my dad had flesh eating disease in his back - it had been eating away the discs in his spine. My dad got treated for it FINALLY and has pretty much recovered. Surprisingly enough, the only consequences of having had it in his spine is that he is now a little shorter than he was before, he can't sit or stand for long periods of time, he has to wake up sometimes during the night because his back starts aching, and he walks with a bit of a "stooped over" look. This is why it is a good idea to google your own symptoms.

    My husband has been doing cold plunging and cold therapies for years and loves it! I need to find that tub you have. Another option for us chickens is to turn the water of your shower to cold for the last minute or 2 and then get out. Or you can turn it cold for a minute, then warm, then cold again. It's a good option and still has great benefits. And the cold is good for your hair too, I've heard you talk about that before!

    Recommendation your biggest meal of the day should be lunch it's your fuel while your running around middle of the day is when most of us are the busiest running around to burn off those calories. Dinner should be your lightest meal that's when most people just sit around and don't move around much so your not burning those calories try to minimize your carb intake at dinner a lot more vegetables protein and fruits for dessert. Healthy tip😁

    I’ve been doing what I call intermittent fasting for years, way before it was even a thing, since my early teens I’ve never eaten breakfast and the first meal of my day was lunch time even at high school and I’ve always been like that, I actually don’t know how people can wake up and be hungry, I’ve only ever eaten when I’m hungry not because the clock ⏰ on the wall says it’s breakfast time, lunchtime or dinner time, I won’t eat anything past 7pm at night, I do have gut issues and this is what works for me, it’s not for everyone, turning the shower onto Cold 🥶 would give the same outcome as to sitting in a Cold 🥶 tub of water which probably costs a fortune for some, I tried the not washing my face in the morning for almost 3 months and my skin started to break out with these tiny little bumps on my face, once I started washing my face again in the morning, my skin went back to normal, personally I think if your doing that, you would need to change your pillowcase every night because of the bacteria that would just accumulate on your pillowcase naturally, plus the buildup of skincare that you use every night, it does rub off onto your pillowcase even though you may do your skincare routine earlier than you would go to bed there’s still a certain amount that goes into your pillowcase, I use Osmosis skincare products and there Catylist AC-11 leaves an orange mark on my pjs and my pillowcase which I do change every day ready for bed that night, there skincare has changed my skin for the better and if changing my pillowcase daily means I have lovely skin @63 years old then it’s worth it to me but I don’t have kiddos or have a huge amount of laundry, some great tips Shea, but some things aren’t a one thing fits all kind of thing. Nothing like fresh eggs from the farm compared to store bought ones, your lucky to have fresh eggs at your fingertips. We used to live on property and had our own chickens and our children would love getting the eggs every afternoon after school. Cheers from Queensland Australia 🇦🇺💗💙💙💙
