I saw Ronnie Dove in person when he toured with The Dick Clark Caravan Of Stars Summer Tour 1965. It was at Salina, Kansas's Memorial Hall on 7-14-65 where I saw Ronnie and the other rock and roll acts who toured with The Dick Clark Caravan Of Stars Summer Tour 1965. So listening to the video brings back memories for me when i was a teenage girl. Thanks for sharing the video with me.
Anytime I hear Ronnie Dove it takes me back to childhood memories growing up in Baltimore my neighbors brother was his drummer they would practice there at the house so it was like a free concert for the neighborhood growing up in the 60s it was wonderful.
I had all of his records in the 60,s I never will forget them they were 45,s they were blue and they had that big DIAMOND record label on them and I bought them at WOOLWORTH.
On this day in 1965 {September 7th}* Ronnie Dove performed "One Kiss for Old Times' Sake" on the ABC-TV week-day afternoon program 'Where The Action Is'... Just under four moths earlier on May 9th, 1965 the song peaked at #14 {for 1 week} and it stayed on the chart for 11 weeks... Between 1964 and 1969 he had twenty Top 100 records; his two biggest hits both peaked at #14, besides this one there was "Right or Wrong" in 1964... And between 1965 and 1968 he had ten hits on the Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart, half of them made the Top 10 with his biggest hit being "I'll Make Your Dreams Come True", it reached #2 in 1965... * Plus also on September 7th, 1965 he celebrated his 30th birthday, and today he turned 80 years old... May God bless him...
+sauquoit13456 Neither Ronnie or I know if the original film from most of his TV appearances still exists, including appearances on Where The Action Is. I know he and I would both love to see them if they do exist.
Remember it well when he had all his hits. My g/fs took me to one of his concerts even got to meet him personally. Still have his music in my collection. Great artist singing great songs. Thanks for posting
Just love this singer and all of his songs and special voice. Such an under rated overlooked artist. God bless you Ronnie even more than he already did!
Bought this record on vinyl in 1965 the first for my future wife wonderful song and brilliantly sang by Ronnie Dove love as much now as I did then xxxx
Did you make any recordings with him? If so, do you have any copies of them? I'm still trying to track down possible unreleased recordings he had made in the early and mid 1970's, if they still exist anywhere.
1965.... One kiss for old times' sake Just like it used to be One kiss for old times' sake Could bring you back to meIf you'd give me a chance To love you one more time Maybe my lips on yours Could change your mindAnd you would know how much I want, I need you, I lo-o-o-o-ove you? Oh, my darlin', please grant me thisCHORUSIf there's a spark of love Still left from our romance You owe it to your heart To give me one more chanceOh, can't you see how much I want, I need you, I lo-o-o-o-ove you? Oh, my darling', please grant me this (One kiss for old times' sake)
I still have three of his original albums and can still picture myself buying them in the record shop in Glendale (WI) 'way back when. Ronnie is one of my three favorites, along with Jim Reeves and Roy Orbison.
Great stuff... for some reason I hear “ Patsy Cline” style of sound/music etc. Or maybe it’s just me Anyway I like what I’m hearing Knew of him But never had a opportunity to really listen to his work 62-years old ... it’s brand new to me --WOW GOOD MUSIC
A long overdue comment....circa 1975, being handed my "walking papers," I walked myself to Uncle Sam. LMO sent me packing, so I went into the USAF. All turned out good for the both of us. The Ron Dove song, came up later as a "remembering us" song. Heartbreak is a strange thing...comes and goes...GPM-53.
He has a beautiful voice, but he is a tenor and only tenor, Elvis could sing Tenor all the way down to the top of the base range. His voice was one of a kind..
Good Music! Today's music is all about sex. The great thing is I don't know of any of Ronnie's Songs that brings up sex or even the phrase "Love Making or Making Love". These great songs will never die. The public is sick and tired of hearing about sex.
I'm still looking for any information on my past flame from Misawa Air Base, Japan in 1967, a nurse in the Air Force,by the name of Captain Wanda L. Carpenter. Any information please send to Hubert Welborn, hwellborn#bellsouth.net.
ALWAYS a Top Ten Performance; never a nationwide Top Ten Hit. A mystery to me to this day. Phenomenal talent, Mr. Ronnie Dove.
This is absolutely a classic a classic frozen in time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+paprikash Amazing singer, this is one of his best!1
WOW !!! Can't believe I never heard him before, just one word comes to mind .....WHY ????? How Fantastic he sings !
When I was in my teens My sister's and I would sit on the floor and play his albums over and over .Great memories

God, what great memories. I was in his band 40 + years ago. Had the time of my life. What a great singer, and more importantly, what a great man!
Did you make any recordings with him? If so, do you have any copies of them? I'm still trying to track down possible unreleased recordings he had made in the early and mid 1970's, if they still exist anywhere.
So many memories
What wonderful old times of happiness, all so long ago.
What a song and lyrics.
brings back memories
Jean Dotson, I agree 100% with you and will tell him next time we talk...he is still at it and most likely sings this GIANT hit at every show!!!!
Great song..brings back a lot of memories.
Brings back memories of the guy I fell in love with in the late 70's. I wish I could see him just one more time...😥
After they've had all their FUN
I WAS IN LOVE WITH THIS GUY!!!
Saw Ronnie perform in Windsor, Ontario nightclub, around 1966. He was great and he did autographs between sets, it was a Super performance.
Love this song and tune; hard to stop thinking of it sometimes.
"One Kiss For Old Times Sake" by Ronnie Dove was issued on the Diamond label way back in the spring of 1965.
Ronnie Dove. I don't hear his name so often, even in the oldies community. I wonder why. Love his records.
Que de beaux souvenirs de mon adolescence. Merci.

One kiss for old times' sake
Just like it used to be
One kiss for old times' sake
Could bring you back to meIf you'd give me a chance
To love you one more time
Maybe my lips on yours
Could change your mindAnd you would know how much I want, I need you, I lo-o-o-o-ove you?
Oh, my darlin', please grant me thisCHORUSIf there's a spark of love
Still left from our romance
You owe it to your heart
To give me one more chanceOh, can't you see how much I want, I need you, I lo-o-o-o-ove you?
Oh, my darling', please grant me this
(One kiss for old times' sake)

I have several of his 45's....... he was my favorite singer...... in my book he should be as big as Elvis!
He has a beautiful voice, but he is a tenor and only tenor, Elvis could sing Tenor all the way down to the top of the base range. His voice was one of a kind..

Who are you thinking of Ronnie Dove when your singing this song?
They don't make such beautiful songs anymore! What happened?
Good Music! Today's music is all about sex. The great thing is I don't know of any of Ronnie's Songs that brings up sex or even the phrase "Love Making or Making Love". These great songs will never die. The public is sick and tired of hearing about sex.
