A line from this song came to me in a dream last night! I got up and went immediately to TH-cam. Then I started crying! I was 16 when this song came out...OMG where does time go?
I met Ronnie Dove in about 1966, he was singing with the shower of stars who went thru Benton Harbor THAT SUMMER AND THEY were singing outside of the bowling alley there. There were many other singers with him, it was a great show. Paul Peterson was there, and Jackie DeShannon, Peter and Gordon, The ink Spots and Mel Carter (Hold me Thrill me Kiss me). It was a great night! I'm so happy to see that he's still singing!
MY ALL TIME FAVORITE OLDIES SONG FROM THE 60'S. BEST SONG, BEST SOLO ARTIST PERIOD! I JUST ORDERED HIS CD OF ALL OF HIS GREAT HITS. I CAN'T WAIT TO RECEIVE IT. SO HAPPY TO HAVE YOU TUBE TO BE ABLE TO TRACK THINGS LIKE THIS DOWN AND ACQUIRE SUCH MATERIAL TO REMINESE. THE BABY BOMMERS ARE THE GREATEST MUSIC MAKERS AND LOVERS.
I used to play this record over and over again and again and again and again and again my mom let me because I was cleaning and singing with my Ronnie he understood me at least back then I thought he did. I love this record so much it was my favorite when I was 17 And I still love it
I have one of the albums that this was on and I still listen to it. I still love Ronnie's music and I am so happy that his music has been released again.
On this day in 1964 {July 12th} "Say You" by Ronnie Dove entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #100; ten weeks later it would peak at #40 {for 1 week}, and that was also it's 11th and final week on the Top 100... "Say You" was his first Top 100 record, between 1964 and 1969 he had twenty records on the Hot Top 100 chart; his two biggest hits both peaked at #14, "Right or Wrong" for 1 week on November 29th, 1964 and "One Kiss For Old Times' Sake" for 1 week on May 9th, 1965... Between 1972 and 1987 he charted six times on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart... Mr. Dove will celebrate his 82nd birthday in two months on September 7th, 2017...
I am with you George May. Just great back up vocals. I m going to see Ronnie Dove on April 23, 2016 in southern Pa near the Maryland border. Hope to see some of you great fans there also.
Great stereo mixing - a lot of care taken with it. Remember it from those 60's portable stereos with one detachable speaker. If you danced with someone to this as the last song of the night, you had it made all the following week.
that is amazing about the jordanaires and also the anita kerr singers. they sure made a lot of singers songs sound very nice. background is so important in many songs. it's as if they bring song to life, nothing against the individual or group singing the song.
sprky44 Just think of all the thousands of hit records(of all types) and great artists that those two groups have backed besides Ronnie Dove .ie: Elvis , Ricky , Patsy , Brenda , Connie Francis , Conway , and hundreds of others . I think every song was better with the Jordanaires and Anita Kerr Singers on it . In fact , some songs wouldn't have been recorded without them . Can you imagine Jimmy Dean's "Big Bad John" without the Jordanaires ? Or Bobby Helm's "You Are My Special Angel" without the Anita Kerr Singers ? Elvis once said (in the early 1960s) that he didn't need strings and orchestra as long as he had the Jordanaires behind him . He was right !
they were very special groups and yes they added that special touch to so many songs, probably more than we will ever know .music today isn't the same, if you want to call it music right George. the singers today couldn't hold a candle to the singers back then. a lot of noise and special affects is what they use to drown their voices out. I miss the big bands and instrumental music such as Billy Vaughn, duane eddy and herb alpert to name a few thank you for response George may and rock n roll will stay forever:)
Ronnie Dove I loved all of his Music ❤️🎼❤️ I made a few videos with a few of his songs and he Told TH-cam to BLOCK THEM ... HE IS NOT TO FRIENDLY WITH NICE VIDEOS WITH HIS MUSIC . AND I LOVED THOSE VIDEOS ESPECIALLY The One ( With PEN IN HAND ) it bought tears to my Eyes , It Said Little Ronnie . My little boy at the time 🤧😪😪🤧 Well I’m over it Now I Still Love His Music But not like I did ❤️🎼❤️ Love To All His Fans ❤️🎼❤️ Ronnie AKA doronron100 TH-cam Videos Aka Theresa Garrett TH-cam Videos . Again Love Those Oldies ❤️🎼❤️
KAY Boyer, Ronnie IS Playing IN A COUPLE OF Places in Pa. Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia in 2016. I am going to see him in Pa. on April 23rd,2016 Hope to see you there. Google up his 2016 Schedule folks for none of us are getting any younger. I always wanted to meet Ronnie in person. so glad was able to touch base with all of this great info and videos.
Our archive has cassette copies of only a few of the concerts Ronnie did at Lulu's. They were recorded for a possible live album but nothing ever came of it.
George May The Anita Kerr Singers and the Jordanaires were the background vocalists on Ronnie's songs recorded in Nashville, including this one. Some of his later songs for Diamond were recorded in New York where session singers like Ellie Greenwich could be heard among background vocalists.
Ronnie Dove Music I should have known .The voices of The Jordanaires and The Anita Kerr Singers are on more songs (of all types) than any others in recording history . Period! I heard The Jordanaires alone have been on more than 35,000 recordings . I have loved the melodic sound of both groups since the 1950s . I'm also a big fan of Ellie Greenwich and all the fabulous music from the Brill Building in N.Y. (late 1950s through 1960s) .Thanks for the info .
Oldies stations are getting to be a thing of the past. That's why I download all my music anymore. Ronnie Dove had a very distinct voice. Very good with a love song.
Im an old guy of 71, but i hear this i want to love someone like that again
A line from this song came to me in a dream last night! I got up and went immediately to TH-cam. Then I started crying! I was 16 when this song came out...OMG where does time go?
I wore this record out! I've still got several of his records from the 60's.
He's the best!!
Remember this so very well from 1964-65....special memories for a young girl of 15....

Incredibly great song, that was overlooked. What a vocal.
I used to.listen to his songs all the time in the 70's.
My VERY FAVORITE singer of all time! Loved him since I was a kid❤️what a voice❤️❤️🎶
It amazes me that with all his hits (many, many fine songs) Ronnie Dove never cracked the Billboard Top Ten -- A Multi-Hit Wonder! 4/2018

I used to play this album, over and over my mom would not complain because I was cleaning the house.
Great soulful sound from Baltimore, Md. Played with groups like the Lafayettes, and Bob Brady and Tommy Vann
the best back up groups to his great songs
+sprky44 The Anita Kerr Singers and the Jordanaires, two of the best groups of people to back up any artist. Ronnie often had both on his recordings.
Ronnie Dove Music really! I'm truly impressed!
My all time favorite song...Love his voice!
Very special memory song. Good memory.
You're so right!
