I saw a RONNIE DOVE show first in Waldorf,Md and the place was packed! Bought his LP (which he autographed) even though he was mobbed with fans! Never too busy for us followers! Through the years I saw him in many clubs and he was always there for his fans! GREAT SINGER and super guy!!!!
Several of Ronnie's tunes make me cry. But that's ok. they are just so beautiful, amazing stuff. Loved them half a century ago love them more now. But Ronnie has always had a spot in my heart ^60s was a great tune for tunes, we all know that, and Ronnie was to me a big part of the era. Beatles, Stones, Four Seasons, Beach Boys, Motown, AND Ronnie all rocked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lived in Hanover , PA. This man made great vocals. Period. We grew up dancing in pajamas and of Elvis. Ronnie and Elvis! My parents saw him . Underrated. Beautiful music and Back From Baltimore...major hit for all who loved him. I was maybe eleven. We respected our parents and my parents saw Ronnie Dove at a place just over the PA line. Major artist. Back then mom and dad said going on New Years Eve to see Ronnie Dove. Then we had respect and as the oldest we were responsible. Happy New Year. Yeah, God Bless him. Wonderful. Had an autographed picture. Well-liked liked. Charles Day
Lovely song by Ronnie I was lucky enough to see him perform live in concert when he toured with The Dick Clark Caravan Of Stars. This took place on 7-14-65 at Salina , Kansas's Memorial Hall, where I also saw & heard Brian Hyland, Mel Carter,Freddy Hughes, Ian Whitcomb, Peter And Gordon, Jackie De Shannon, George MCcannom The Third & The Exiles who were the back up band. Thanks for the blast from the past it reminds of that evening so long ago when ever I hear this song or any of the acts I saw that July summer night of 1965. Cheers: Christine V. Klinger-Berndt
Christine, I was at the same concert in Salina. I was 13 years old and to this day that was the best concert I've ever been to. It cost $2! We lived near Hays and my brother and I begged our mom for days to take us. Those were the days.
Fred Smotherman I agree with you but Robert John is also a great singer. Hope you have heard of him. They rank up there. together. They both sing from the heart.
FRED: Too bad the oldies stations do not play his great songs. Only KDSK does here in New Mexico and it is also available 24/7 online. Check it out since it plays the oldies that the other oldies stations and shows do not play.
My best past 60's solo artist and just love all of his songs. Talk about bringing back many great memories! Wow! So happy to have you tube for things like this. Going to check out buying his old hits and songs on todays Cd's I am told are now available. Can't wait to get them. Thanks for posting all of this for all of us. Forever greatful!
On this day in 1965 {July 13th} Ronnie Dove performed "A Little Bit of Heaven"* on the Dick Clark produced ABC-TV network weekday-afternoon program 'Where The Action Is'... At the time the song was in it's first of two weeks at #16 on Billboard's Hot Top 100, and that would also be it's peak position the the chart, it spent 10 weeks on the Top 100... And on the same 'Action' show he also performed "Right or Wrong", the year before on November 29th, 1964 it reached #14 {for 1 week} on the Top 100... * For what it's worth; Garnet Mimms' "A Little Bit of Soap" charted in 1965 for one week at position #95...
Really like this song. In '94 or around that time before TH-cam became so popular I would remember little bits of this song in my head because my dad would play it for my mom on vinyl record back in the 60's when I was a kid and I would listen but didn't know who sang it. In '94 I went looking and bought it at Sound Warehouse Record and Tape (Store) and I was so embarrassed at having to hum it to the attendant who recognized it right away and told me who it might be. Guess my humming wasn't all that good. :-))
It's such a shame that the younger generation doesn't listen. as I have been told it's crappy music . But thank goodness to utube on my Google box i get to wind back time and enjoy those wonderful singers that have moved on to the next life . hopefully there's is life after death. I may get to see them. It would be great to hear the younger generation try singing the older songs . Today it's how they can screech their voice so it seems.
I agree with Ellen Rising on her statement about Sirus Radio, here. Where is our Roonie Dove on the 60's Sirus Radio? I also never hear Ronnie Dove played on Sirus. So we should all contact Sirus Radio tell them to wise up that we want to hear our Ronnie Dove music. We must let them know how we fee or they will never play his great music. Great memories from a great artist are precious.
1965 in basement club “Italian Garden” in Yokohama Japan, slow dance with this song, happy hour ¥80 Kirin beer, good times during Chaotic Vietnam Era!!!!
I was a teenager in the 60s so glad this music is available, brings back wonderful memories. Thank you TH-cam
being a native eastern shoreman from the little town of Centreville, class of 67, what a great singer and great music
