    I've got this same little blue genny, bought it new from HF back in 2012. I don't know how many hundred hours are on it, I still use it quite a bit. If you take care of them and don't abuse them, they can last a very long time. 50 to 1 is plenty of oil as long as you don't mess it up while mixing as you said... the difference between 40 to 1 and 50 to 1 is insignificant (2.56 oz per gallon for 50 vs 3.2 for 40) Just like if you mess it up trying to mix 40 to 1, and don't put in enough oil. I've run 50 to 1 in all of my chainsaws, this little blue genny, everything 2 stroke since the 1980's and never once had a lubrication related problem, and I go through probably at least 40-50 gallons of 2 stroke fuel a year running the chainsaws, I cut a good amount of firewood every year. Remember that 50 to 1 with a good quality oil will always be better than 32 to 1 with an inferior oil. If you ever disassemble a 2 stroke engine that has been running on proper 50:1 fuel, you'll notice that there will be plenty of oil inside the engine.
    And Really, there's no reason to install an inline filter, because there is a fuel filter already installed inside the tank, it is part of the fuel shutoff valve. That is, unless you remove this in-tank filter.
    If you have access to an ultrasonic cleaner, you can usually make these carbs look and run just like new again if they're really gunked up.
    But you are spot-on with your advice to run the carb dry, and then drain the bowl to get the last few drops out. Doing that will prevent 98% of the problems that this awful ethanol tainted fuel that they're forcing on us causes. It's also better to store your equipment with a full tank of fuel rather than a partial tank of fuel. Either all the way full, or all the way empty for storage. Never store with a partial tank if you want to avoid problems.
    Also, if you do not have access to ethanol free fuel in your area, treat your small engine fuel with Stabil Marine 360 at double the label rate, and add 1 ounce per gallon of SeaFoam to your storage cans... I've been doing this since 2018 and have not had a single dirty carb problem on anything since... even my big standby generator.
    Good video!

    Nice job .. I have one of those tailgator HF generators , Looks just the same as that just Green .. I mix it 40:1 and everything I have the same .. Oil is cheaper than parts as my Grandpa use to say .. ENJOYED

    What do you do if it starts to leak gas from the bottom??? And I won't start

    • @ils360
      @ils360  ปีที่แล้ว

      If it's leaking fuel from the bottom it's most likely the carburetor unless it is a cracked fuel line. If it's the carburetor it needs to be pulled apart and cleaned or replaced if a replacement can be found. If it's the fuel line just replace the fuel line.

      There's a little breaker on the front you can see it on the video clear plastic with a little red piece on the inside Make sure that's pushed down if it's popped up it won't produce any power
