We are going through the specs (briefly) and we focus on its performance and style on the streets. We also compare it with other similar Fuji lenses on the market for its overall usefulness and usability and in the end I reveal whether it is a worthwhile buy in 2023.

    Thank you I enjoy your approach. I gave you a thumbs up for your help in deciding to get this lens which I'm now committed to doing. But I subscribed because you said that 'with this lens you aren't just doing photography but you are experiencing photography'. I enjoy many aspects of photography but most of all I enjoy the experience of photography; being out and paying attention and being alert to the world around me. Seeing and capturing a beautiful moment in time. The world talks to me and I take notes.

    I already own the Fuji 23 f 2 and so I'm gonna buy this one as well because I love the focal length and I also like the size and wight. On the streets or when I#m traveling I don't need a f 1.4 which is bigger and heavier. By the way, nice channel I subscribed. :-) Keep up the good work!

    I recently got the 50 F2. I own the other F2 lenses (23 & 35) as well as the original 2014 release of the 56 F1.2, but this 50 looks great at F2. Using it with the original X-Pro1 and X-Pro2. The 56 hunts badly in low light and makes things challenging, but the 50 is excellent and is becoming a favorite of mine.

    I have the 16mm wr 1.4 and this 50mmf2. My next in-between is going to be the pancake 27mm. I think be covered for nature, travel, and occasional portraits with family

    This lens is a gem. it gets almost no love like the 23mmf2 but those are the two lenses I took my favorite pictures with. and for some people who are not sure about it for a portrait lens, If you do close up portraits this lens is really nice, just for full body it isn't the best. but hey every lens has its limitations. for studio portraits and detail shots it is killer too because the lens is razor sharp.

    • @AristeidisSfakianos
      @AristeidisSfakianos  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Of ciurse Michael. Lenses are tools and not every tool has the same use. But this one is a gem. It doesn't do everything but it does a lot very well!I might look at the 23mm in the near future too. Fuji has a lot of great lenses and I am about to invest more in them!

    I shoot almost everything on my 35mm f2 and love it. I also have a 23mm f2 but have mixed feelings about it. This 50mm looks like a sure bet, so thanks for your clear and informative views (with some great shots too). Also, I've just spotted your profile picture and realised I follow you on Instagram!

      haha! Cheers Andrew! I keep my profile picture the same so people can find me in other social media as well. Indeed you can't go wrong with this lens although I am now considering testing out some of the other lens options around the 50mm mark for Fujifilm cameras to see if there are any better options out there. Thanks for checking out the video!

    I got this lens back in the day, mostly as a more affordable option vs the 56 1.2. I gotta say it never quite worked for me, the aperture was a bit less than I wanted for portraits and it's not vert flexible focal length for general shooting. Doesn't quite zoom in enough, and isn't quite wide enough either. Every now and then I try to give it another shot but I ended up unimpressed. But it it inspiring to see your photos and how great use you make of this lens, I should try it once again!

    • @AristeidisSfakianos
      @AristeidisSfakianos  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It depends on what works for you. We don't see the world the same way and a different focal length that doesn't work for me might work for you. Having said that have you tried the 56mm F/1.2. I am thinking of getting it and using it in the future. Thanks for watching!

    Nice review thanks! I purchased this partly because it looks so great on my silver X-e4. I'm also buying the 27mm pancake because I feel that's just what the X-e4 demands. The big question is.... do I sell my 35mm 1.4? It's a great lens but it feels too close to the 27mm and the 50mm.... hmmmmm, I hate going back and forward all the time with my lens kit decisions!

    • @AristeidisSfakianos
      @AristeidisSfakianos  ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you liked it! This is very hard to say. It all depends on what is your preference when shooting. If it was me I would keep all three of them because I like switching between focal lengths. Don't like staying with the same focal length for too long and getting too comfortable. But that is just me.

    • @Jennifer-wr9si
      @Jennifer-wr9si ปีที่แล้ว

      as someone who has bought back lens she has sold before, just keep all the lenses you love, even if you have some 'logic' for not keeping them (eg focal lengths that are too close). obviously, I'm also assuming you don't need cash...

    • @halfalligator6518
      @halfalligator6518 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Jennifer-wr9si yeah good advice... I decided to keep it :). Not that i need to justify anything to myself but I now think of it as having 2 sets of 2 (I only take 2 with me usually). I could take out that 18mm & 35mm, or the 27mm & 50mm. The fact 2 are close is irrelevant now with this mindset. I know... I'm neurotic probably 😆

    I just bought my 50mm f2 today. Total bargain. 2nd hand with no box but complete with hood and caps - $400 Australian dollars - Impressed so far. A far cry from my biased personal impressions of the Fujicron 23mm f2. Nothing objectively negative to say about the tiny 23mm but it just wasn't a happy marriage. As for the 35mm f2 - I already have the f1.4 variant so that will never come into being for me..

    • @AristeidisSfakianos

      Nice one!The 50mm F/2 is still one of my favorite lenses. I just took it out this weekend to photograph fireworks and people at night. I absolutely love it. You found a good bargain there indeed! I will be using the 23mm for the channel in the near future. So I will form my own opinion. At the moment, I am checking out the 16mm F/2.8, and I am preparing a video for it. The 35mm F/1.4 is great, in my opinion, for photography. It lacks weather sealing, but -between us- I've taken it out in rain, and it is fine. I don't recommend trying it, though!😋 Thanks for checking out the video!

      @@AristeidisSfakianos Funny that you mention the 35mm f1.4's weather sealing - believe it or not - a friend of mine dropped his copy into a bucket of water and after frantically retrieving it. Well, Fuji didnt make a 50mm f2 version B did they, so logically your title is incorrect. It's still a Fuji current line product. Perhaps using correct titles next time? Perhaps using a title of.....uuummmmm............" Fujifilm 50mm F2 - Still Worth Buying? " It could be 2024, 25, 26 30, 80 and so on. If they still make the lens, then the year of purchase is...................... irrelevant

    • @dakzer55
      @dakzer55 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not sure why you are saying title is incorrect. It is very clear, the title reflects the year 2023 when the video was released, and aims to question if the XF 50mm f2 is still worth having in that year. Pretty clear english to me, and you come across as slightly racist as english is not the video presenters 1st language 😮
