Thumbs up for the dogs and for your effort, without using any ultra-super-mega tools.
Good luck for your channel and future work.

You didn't do so bad...the box is usable. If I could offer just a couple of suggestions? Be very careful as you are disassembling. Use a block of wood between the pry bar and the box, which will help not further the damage to the box. Before you reinforce (like in the lid), disassemble and reglue ALL of the panels. Likewise, don't reinforce dovetail joins with nails. Instead, disassemble and reglue. That will make your repairs much more sympathetic with the original construction.
I salute you. You took on a challenge and saw it through to the end. Was it 100% perfect? Perhaps not, but if you listen only to the critics, you will never achieve perfection. Only compare you to you. Look at what you did on this project and find one or two ways to improve the next time. Then, improve one more area. Before long, you'll have a dedicated following and a craft to be proud of. DON'T GIVE UP! I'm subscribing just so I can see you grow!

So if it is closed with a padlock, you just have to open it by removing the screws from the cover...? ha! How smart of you..!!!

Looks ok in the end, but I have to admit, the first 25 minutes were painful to watch! Gave you a sub, bro, keep on restoring stuff, that’s the only way to get better ;)

As so many people have pointed out you have a huge amount to learn but none of us knew everything when we started. Good luck with your developing if you enjoy this work. What makes you think this is a military chest?

And here what you SHOULD NOT DO with an old piece, first start with something current, look at materials, review techniques, etc.

If he is as young as his hand look, it may be one of his first projects. Perhaps he would benefit from more constructive feedback.

I can't believe all of the negative crap being shoveled on this guy. This is a young guy struggling to restore the box. Perhaps more constructive criticism would be helpful rather than just throwing shame on his efforts!!!

A few words to the critics. 1. Hopefully you are not teachers, if you are, you shouldn’t be. 2. You are not as critical when your children don’t get something right. 3. Do you have a TH-cam channel? 4. Social media/technology have made it all too easy for some people to sit on their arses and type a load of unconstructive drivel. The more mature and intelligent among our species can offer encouragement and constructive criticism.
