Bea I have always enjoyed your playing but today after the video I learned everything you played note to note from 18:10 to 18:40 and in them 30 seconds I got the coolest feeling and grove I have ever felt playing My Guitar. Your style hands down is the best👊
Building in an "HM-2" setting makes a lot of sense sense there is a huge call for that sound in certain metal genres. It's just nice that it's not all the pedal does. I actually think you can do a lot more with an, HM-2 than what it gets used for.
One of my favorite little bits of English culture is that the thumbs up means "thank you". Like if someone stops to let you cross the street you thumbs up them to say thanks. Here in the US it doesn't have a specific meaning like that, it's just a way of expressing general positivity.
“Chainsaw territory” is the sound of resonance occurring, much like when you turn the resonance knob on a synth filter all the way up. You’re hear it begin to self-oscillate and produce a tone. I think the specific “chainsaw” thing is because it’s such a high resonant frequency, and it’s also being clipped into a waveform with it’s own harmonics that are likely to be dissonant, since the resonance of the device is dependent on the filter circuits cutoff frequency.
Just watched a review of this pedal with bass before coming here. Pretty impressive that it handles bass and guitar so well. Love position 3 with the strat!
Got my Eras yesterday and it is excellent. But as Rabea mentioned it is flubby with high output humbuckers. So I tried a SD-1 in front of it. While it solved the flubbiness it introduces a not so nice mid hump as expected. So I turned the SD-1 off again and added a very steep low cut filter at 50 Hertz to get rid of all the sub bass by simply using the EQ in the OX Box by adding a Butterworth-3 low cut. And all of a sudden it sounds phenomenal, brutal and tight. I guess it has a lot of sub bass for the bass players which needs to be filtered out for guitars. In a perfect world the pedal would have this built in as a switch.
@@grahamkelly8299 Just try it, might work for your guitars and amps anyway. Where it also shines are lead tones in mode 3. It sings and gives you great sustain. The low end problem can be fixed easily with an EQ. I had the Revv G3 pedal and liked it but l prefer the Eras for its rougher distortion. After getting the Revv G20 amp I sold the G3.
A bright higher output humbucker or active pickup sounds like it would work great. It is always a guessing game of amp and pedal interaction to get a tight low end.
The chainsaw sound is one of the components (cannot remember if it's the resistors or diodes) being overloaded with voltage. Lots of pedals have a "bias" knob that can be used to mitigate or enhance this effect
Bias is for the transistor or op amp, FET etc. ( The amplifying component) Where the voltage being sent in is approaching equal to or greater than the 9 volt power supply. Bias changes this ratio.
Now this was demo on this pedal I was really waiting for! Agree with you completely on the using of lower output guitars with this pedal. Sounds much better to me. Would love to know more about your insane gigging experiences!
Debating on getting it. How do you run it because o always thought it would be too mid forward. The ages and warhorn are both somewhat it appears based on mid forward pedals. Klon and tubescreamer
@@kentonschroer2347 To be honest I just play with the knobs to adjust it to whichever guitar and amp I’m using at the moment. I know that doesn’t help, but it’s really easy to dial in a good tone fast.
I use mine by dialing in my perfect always drive sound on the Ages with a bit of clean and using the Warhorn for a Dirty Boost that’s still overdrive bordering on distortion. I plan on getting the Eras and the OBNE Haunt to round out my clean blended Drive section
