Really diggin this pedal, and it seems to have some beautiful tones, and alot of room to get really creative, and i can hear that 5150 heritage with in. Great stuff, and your newest Subscriber.
Ive heard 15 different people demo this. The first 13 people obviously never played the amp its modeled after. It was God awful and sounded nothing like the amp I played for many years in the studio in the early to mid 90s. But you and Jon Symons Sonic Drive Studio nailed it.
The delay around 9mins 19 seconds really made the pedal for me. What delay was that, pedal or plug-in? I could image the pedal being too ‘brown’ unless you’re really clean, otherwise the fizz or hight end bleeds across chords. I sort of think you need to be very careful of your complex chords if you’re a messy guitarist, otherwise it’s a bit in refined, just my thoughts.
hardware always sounds more forward than plugins and will sit better in a mix with drums, more realistic in a stereo spread as an element, amps and cabs better still
ANTI is great, but but maybe too much low end initially that would be cut in a live show or a mix. The last round with ANTI & the plugin and TS sounded great as a comparison. I've also head some other demos of just full gain chugging, no clean and no single note lines. This is the best demo so far.
is it just me? or have all the demos of this thing had a slightly uncomfortable high end spike, not sure where it is but it sounds like it's either 3k or 6k ish, I mean I get that people like 5150s to be biting but aren't they also known for more of a bark? it seems like it's kinda built in to the sweet spot or something since I've noticed the same high end spike on pretty much all the vids I've seen so far...
In every demo of this product, i am bothered by a fizzyness , like in a bad IR...it may be my ear plugs but...i didnt felt that on the lion demo...disapointed...
Nope, the upper frequencies are apparent in every review. For some, they enjoy this quality. I've owned 5150 variants and always did my best to dial out the harsh highs when present.
You have to remember alot of them are not in a mix. Also alot of them are showing direct in and not through a 4x12 cab. I would bet this pedal sounds killer through a 4x12 and in a full band setting. Just my opinion.
Me: "Man, that's a lot of gain..." Rabea: "Now were going to put it on the high gain channel." So why is it called the "Anti"? Like "anti-up" - that's all I can think of. I can't figure out any association between the name and the amp or EVH. Anyway- I can't decide between this or the dual rec. Knuckles sim. I'm leaning toward the Knuckles because I've always been a huge Metallica fan, and they used the dual rec. I'm also a big Foo Fighters fan, they used one. But tbh the Anti sounds really good and the 5150 has been used more often and by more metal bands than any other amp- plus it's perfect for 80s shred. The dual rec. I think is less versatile, more firmly within the box so to speak- it's all about the chug. You're not going to see a lot of 80s shredders using it- it was made famous by bands like Metallica and Dream Theatre. Idk- I'm just as lost now as when I started. Decisions, decisions.... of course, I could just go with a Deluxe Simplifier- or a Freidman IR-J. Or- I could buy the J Rockette PXO, stick it in front of my Lion '68- and see what that sounds like. AHHHHH! I'm losing my mind... Truth is, I'm going to buy it all eventually so, it doesn't matter. The Anti it is.. or maybe the Knuckles... Idk. Damn it.
Bea, I’d be interested to hear if the UAFX Lion could pair well with this pedal for the kind of stuff you do. It does have that Super Lead esque sound that you’ve paired with a 5150 in the past. Maybe this could be the case to put the real amps in the museum (lovely though they are).
Hey, Rabea, how do you get such a defined sound on your chords? When you’re playing high gain stuff you can still clearly hear the higher notes of a chord and it doesn’t sound muddy or undefined? I’ve noticed that about some of your other videos as well.
Sounds fuckin incredible. Best demo of this pedal yet. So what would you buy to run into an amp 1 iridium, friedman irx, or this pedal? I was sold on the irx until I heard this beast....
How would you run this through a non-FR FR speaker set up? Can the cab sims be turned off? There's little point using IR sims through a traditional cab that have their own distinctive tone.
Can this be used in a live setting like a two channel amp by using the "Preset" func? I think the other UAFX amp sims have a significant latency or more of a drop in volume when switching between your current and your favourite preset.
The clean can sound that good on the original 5150 if you use the low gain input and W twist the knobs. Unfortunately, the channels have shared EQ. Alao, sounds even better with a Unit67 in front and single coils. Hell... I was even able to Squeeze a Samsung Pumpkins Hummer clean tone out of my block with a strat.

THEN…think about impulses and FX. This sounds a lot like a Sansamp, so I dunno. Some pedals you literally cannot change the sound no matter what you try. Seems like one of those. Probably easy to mod to open it up some. It’s made to deny certain things from happening to output the same kinda tone no matter what. Not bad, though. All sounds the same to me though, just EQ curves for presets over the same initial amp sound.
