Ngl, there's something i LOVE about this show is the story telling. Like, just as an example, Darling is the younger sister of two princes, one is considered stronger, hottest and bravest of the three, so everyone expected him to be apple's prince charming since he was seen as *THE* perfect prince. But turns out, he wasn't the one who should go on with his dad's legacy, but any of his kids, but people just never consider it! And Darling that was seen as just a princess that should be in danger waiting for her prince, actually was more of a warrior than Daring was, he just wasn't good in the inside, while Darling was brave, good of heart and really strong! So the fact that she was the one good enough to wake apple up was just GENIUS WRITING! She has one of the best story lines in the show, and this is incredible!

The moment people stop blaming Apple for all the stuff headmaster Grimm and Her mom (and evil queen kinda) told her to do is the day I die in peace they literally emotionally manipulated her
She still was selfish though, headmaster grim was an ass but he didn't affect her as much as you think, the only thing he did was tell her that she had to follow the book or else she would poof away but then when it got exposed that he was lying she still wanted raven to sign the book and to give up her rights to having a good future, apple is selfish at the end of the day and people have the right to not like her cause lets be honest if she was real she would have gotten her shit rocked for good reasons

But I also believe that Snow White is responsible for a lot of Apple's behaviour. Like for example, in the beginning of Dragon Games Snow White is upset because Apple's popularity is declining and she tells Apple to fix it by any means necessary. In the whole special Snow White comes across as extremely cut-throat, manipulative an low-key emotionally abusive. That just makes me believe she was like that throughout Apple's childhood, never allowing imperfections and being more concerned with the way the public percieves their family then Apple's wants/emotions.
So yeah, Apple made some huge mistakes and can be selfish but I wonder how much of that is actually her and how much she is being manipulated, not just by headmaster Grimm, but also her own mother.
I really wish the relationship between Apple and her mother was more elaborated on (same goes for Raven and the Evil Queen, too)
i like to think there are multiple factors that go into Apple's behavior rather than just one person. her mom is very likely to have a huge hand in it, and there's Headmaster Grimm pushing the students into committing to their stories by any means necessary. this might not be relevant to the show, but in the first eah book, The Storybook of Legends, there's a flashback to where Apple falls into a well as a kid. she cries out for help for a seemingly long time, and you can imagine how scary that can be to a child. cold, alone, and scared. when Apple is rescued, she believes that she'll feel that way if she doesn't get her story (or something along those lines, it's been a while since i've read the book). it's a little silly, but when are children not? it's a pretty believable fear a kid would have, especially with everything Apple and everyone else has been told since they were born probably. she most likely doesn't want the people she loves in her life to end up like that either, so she's very insistent with signing the Storybook of Legends. she has her heart in the right place, but the way she goes about it isn't the best. i'm not the biggest fan of Apple, but she is an understandable character to me.

@@euryale2446 She knew what she was doing was bad, she says she understands ravens feelings multiple times in the series but goes back to being selfish, no matter what she's still hella selfish and narcissistic at times and that's literally one of the biggest features in her character so you can't even denie it, she's literally a privileged kid that has strict parents that also give her everything and let her do everything with little to no counciquences who end us developing narcissism and a selfish personality
While I feel for Apple I just… idk her actively and knowly putting everyone in danger by releasing the Evil queen and actively disregarding Ravens feelings in Dragon games in favor of her happily ever after, after she give her whole monologue about caring about her friends safety and futures putting that above one’s own happiness to Raven in one of the first movies just rubbed me all the wrong ways…and I get she’s being manipulated by her mom and Grim but idk I guess I was hoping she would have realized that they may not be so trust worthy or at the very least communicate how she’s feeling to someone instead of putting literally everyone in danger 🤷♀️
Even thought I preferred Monster High in terms of Dolls, I will always choose Ever After High’s animation. It’s so bouncy and it’s very expressive for a show that uses rigged characters.
And the styles (both art and fashion) is so ughh 😩👌

Ok but we can all agree that Apple was an awful friend to Ashlynn in True Hearts Day, right? Like she blows up at Ashlynn for dating Hunter yet then has the audacity to whine about how Ashlynn didn’t trust her enough to tell Apple about her secret relationship. Like, dude, you just proved why Ashlynn should’ve told you, don’t make this about yourself.

I swear some people watched dragon games with their eyes closed... Apple's mom and pretty much everyone else pressures her to be perfect, and she wholeardly believed that she would disappear if she didn't follow her story (take in account that there was no proof to deny that until Legacy Day and that Grimm could have just silenced whoever defied him). In her diary (first wave) she genuinely breaks down crying after getting kicked out of the Student Council (for skipping orientation with Briar) because she's mad at herself for disappointing her parents and not living up to the standard she was forced to learn and engage in
I always knew that Apple was going through a lot of pressure to be the next Snow White and I understood why she acted the way she did but damn, I didn't knew that she broke down because of it, I'm reading her diary now and it's genuinely heartbreaking.
Also, when she was like 6 she fell on a well and slowly felt herself drown, she was rescued and became traumatized, then she decided that she would follow her destiny because she had a happy ending granted. Apple is terrified of the unknown, and it's a recurring theme in the books
I just love Apple as a character because she's rigthfully selfish and has a hard time getting on other people's shoes, and the show and books knew this and developed her
I think it’s just cause they didn’t develop it properly until Dragon Games. That was a very long time of Apple judging Raven based on weak evidence. They never disappeared after Legacy Day, and Apple never thought past herself. She also mistreated Ashlyn too. If they had just explained Apple’s background earlier, she’d end up more sympathetic

Well honestly tho I wish they didn’t make it seem like Apple let out the evil queen out of spite and reverted back to her old ways of trying to make Raven evil. I wish she got pissed and threw the apple instead of practically deliberatingly doing it. And there was more emphasis on the pressure she was under when she did it so people understand that she didn’t mean for it to happen. Then maybe the evil queen manipulated her into saying she would tell them it was her fault so that’s why she continued, and to watch over Raven to make sure she didn’t get hurt.
It sounds better than the show acting like Apple did it out of jealousy then helped the evil queen for her own selfish reasons
I will never forget the scene were Ashlyn and Hunter assume their relationship to the school and everyone reacted like they were born in the 1920’s and were seeing a interacial couple for the first time

I honestly wonder what happened next. They kissed? mouth to mouth? I dunno it looked like a mixture of both but they never talked about it after.
The reason C.A. Cupid could go back and forth: Cupid was described as a monster even the gods feared, but was super handsome too, still counts enough for her to attend Monster High. Also, her mother was a princess and became a goddess later on, so that qualifies her for Ever After High.
My question is, why would you want to attend two high schools at once? I can barely stand one 💀

We all knew this show was amazing when it started because they didn't name Cinderella's daughter " Ella. " For once, claps for the staff who actually have minds.
Also when you realise Ashlynn’s name has ASH in the front the same way Cinderella has CINDER makes me love this show even more for how smart the staff were when doing the kids names.
Disney was not very creative when coming up with names for Descendants. They literally took the names of each villain and gave their children some variation of that name.

Does anyone remember that one episode where the narrators were for some reason arguing over if Kitty was a royal or a rebel but NOBODY questions if Lizzie hearts is a royal or a rebel when she is the daughter of the queen of hearts so she could technically qualify as both? YES I DO REMEMBER! It also begs the question of what it means to be Rebel or Royal. If being a royal means you're good then why is Cerise a rebel when her mother is Red Riding Hood? If being a rebel means you have no connection to royalty, then why is Raven a rebel when her surname is literally Queen? I think it boils down to whether they choose their destiny(Royal) or write their own path(Rebel) but regardless, Lizzie is still my favorite character

I got confused about what being a royal meant when Blondie had that episode where she has to trace her family tree, because she is not royalty and is choosing to follow her mother's footsteps
I can imagine why she would be concerned since most Royals are indeed part of royal families, but in the end being royal is following the destiny their parents also followed because is their tale, while being rebel is wanting to make your own destiny and not follow the tale, for the ones like Maddie who are very happy with their destinies they may consider themselves rebels because they also believe in making your own path, even if they themselves are happy with theirs, kinda similar to people who are pro choice however wouldn't get an abortion themselves
Characters like Briar or Ashlynn were royal once, but then they realized that what they wanted didn't align withtheir destinies, so they changed their minds
Not really. Being a rebel is wanting to not follow the destiny of their parent. Lizzie wants to become the next queen of hearts so she's definitely a royal. Raven would also be a royal if she had chosen to be like her mother.
Ever After High was a masterpiece in every way. The plot? The character design? The aesthetic? No discussion needed. 5 stars. 😙👌✨

To be honest, this show is better than Descendents. They have a better system than just locking people in prison before they are even born.

Fun fact- much of the Mongol empire, and every goblin was stuck on that island- the books said that the dwarfs were pushing for the freedom of the goblins, and also that Atlantis was becoming one of those colonized-tourist places, like Hawaii or the like; Beast told Ben not to give rights to the mermaids or allow any mercy for the islanders. @@Demidruid first two movies were straight up fascists. Uma was always right. Then Trump won the presidency and movie 3 came out and it was like “turns out fascism is bad, sorry guys, my bad.” Mal’s arc in movie 3 is just realizing Uma was always right.
Descendents sucked imo
I feel like this franchise was an interesting commentary on privilege, with the kid's fates being determined by their parentage. Also a commentary on choice, with the Royal vs. Rebel commentary being about giving up your choices/getting tied to your parents' story and destiny because it's safe versus choosing the risks that come with freedom and the chance to live your own life. At least that was what I got out of the first three books. Also, I can't help but feel like most of the Royals had good endings, while most of the Rebels were people who didn't like their endings. The only exceptions I can think of rn are Cedar, who wanted ppl to be able to choose their destinies even if it meant sacrificing her own Ever After, Duchess Swan, who was a jerk, and maybe Ashlynn and Hunter? Idk on the last two, they were dating each other and didn't want to not be able to, but like their friend group was the Royals, so I dunno. Anyways, I remember liking the franchise, pity they ended it.
I mean Duchess wasn't going to have a happily ever after in the end of her story. She's supposed to turn into a black swan permanently if she signed for her story, like her mother did (she was raised by her grandmother and experienced the swan symptoms early on as a child which led to bullying.) I think the reason why she wanted to be in with the other royals was, because if there was a rouge royal and no one to fill in for the princess then she could fill in. Her book makes her seem anxious and afraid more than anything to become a swan. I wouldn't want to be a swan for the rest of my life, I know that and she seems to want to own her own ballet studio one day. You can't really do ballet as a swan.
Also Ramona is going to have to EAT her own sister and Cerise is going to have to see her dead sister at the end of her tale like- yikes

From what I’ve heard, they stopped making these because Descendants came out and Disney were assholes about someone else having the “children of fairytale characters” thing and even though Mattel did it first they couldn’t risk fighting with Disney’s legal team so they basically got chased away from their own idea
It's a shame, really. I've always and forever will prefer EAH much more, even though I do somewhat like the Descendants series. It's unfortunate that we'll never be able to see any sort of closure for the characters, but I guess that's what headcanons and fanfictions are for...

The thing I loved most about this franchise were the narrators. Literally making the narrators their own characters with personalities and feelings is just a god tier concept and I'm so disappointed they didn't do more with Brooke specifically. Yes, I know she narrated a whole ass book, but I need more.

HELP- I can't decide whether I should hate Apple (Selfish in some cases, really only cares about her own happily ever after) or like her (disaster gay, has helped Raven and other characters on multiple occasions, genuinely a good person sometimes)
well, the main reason she was a bitch ab the whole happily ever after thing was because she was made to believe that everyone she knows and loves would poof out of existence if someone didn’t sign the book
also she got a redemption arc so I love her anyway
I think it depends on why you think her character did things, you could see her as someone who was pressured to be perfect from a young age, however she was also likely given a very strange view on what being 'perfect' really means (aka her mother, we see her briefly and she is not the nicest and has strange priorities), so her being 'perfect' thus finally appeasing her mother (in other words, becoming her mothers carbon copy) then yeah, she would end up doing all these things since she hasn't been taught better. (aka disaster gay who seems very convoluted)
BUT you could also see her as someone who clearly has the aptitude and chance to be a good person, she is clearly highly intelligent so surely she could of used the 'good classes' and figured out she can act the very opposite to that and she does these things spitefully
all in all, i see her more on the confused but trying disaster gay path, someone who has been brought up wrong, than that of the spiteful person some see her as, but her characterisation is a very convoluted thing in the show

Apple is like one of those overachievers/gifted kids who people expect too much from, is afraid of disappointing everyone, thinks they're not worthy of love if they fail/don't exceed other people's expectations, AND is a gay disaster (totally not me 😌)
I had this one wack theory that apple is actually the daughter of a different Snow White- the one from Snow White and rose red, and she was switched at birth with the ‘real’ daughter of Snow White (from the one with seven dwarfs) It mostly stems from how apple has blonde hair, which Snow White from Snow White and rose red is often depicted as having, as opposed to black hair (like depicted in Snow White and the seven dwarfs). Idk how well it holds up, as I haven’t actually watched eah in a hot minute but I wanted to share anyway.
In the books it's stated that she has her father's (an anonymous men from one of the Charming family trees) hair, and that she actually feels very insecure about it since she "doesn't look like a real snow white" (and Kitty uses that to mess with her), but i love that theory
Or what if she became snow white from Snow white and rose red instead? Would this make her a rebell if she became a different snow white?

I never owned one of the dolls but if you think that that stopped my obsession you are HIGHLY confused, my dear. The show was my life and the I couldn't put the book down. I still hum the intro song to myself while doing the dishes or in the shower.
As someone that owned the dolls, i kinda threw them away since i dont need them but i kept the costumes and accessories

4:30 So I MAY have an answer for this? I've never seen Ever After High, but if the Snow Kingdom and Crystal are based on the Snow Queen fairy tale, then the reason might be that the king and queen are in fact, Kaj and Gerta; the two main characters from the tale. In the story, the Snow Queen can make people immune to the cold, lock away their memories, and finally kill them, with a kiss. When Gerta rescues Kaj at the end of the story, he is described as being pale before Gerta's warm heart undoes the Snow Queen's magic and melts the shards from the enchanted mirror in his eye and heart, and his color returns. Long story short, I think the Snow King and Snow Queen are Kaj and Gerta who, instead of travelling back home after reuniting, overthrew the Snow Queen, with the people in the Snow Kingdom, including Crystal, being the people that the original Snow Queen kidnapped previously. Gerta was only able to undo the magic on Kaj because of their bond, so they became the new rulers of the kingdom in order to take care of and protect the people there. In this context, that would also make Crystal their adopted daughter.

Just realised that in the books apple says that she wouldn't put raven in the mirror prison and let her leave her life even if she chooses her mother's denstany but in the show she says that they all gotta play a part.... So that means that Apple (at least in the show) doesn't mind at all putting raven to an internal prison or let her be hated by people for the rest of her life...
She's a f@cking sociopath every time that raven is happy (even when she has her birthday) she tries to make herself look as the victim and raven as a manipulator and a liar...

While she is wrong about a lot of things, you do have to consider that Apple was raised with this idea. Everyone
_has_ to play their parts. There just was no other option. And when Brainwashing so black and white like this gets broken it can take a lot before a person can fully leave it. So forget her for any... little mess up ideas about her and ravens role.
Although that victimizing bullshit isn't cool and not really part of the Brainwashing (or it could have. Idk I don't know apple full childhood) still that part isn't really acceptable.

I will defend Apple White to my GRAVE. She is deeply flawed but that's what makes her such a great character! And she learns and grows. Why do people only like anti heroes and shade of grey characters when they start out clearly 'evil'?
I think it’s mostly because you can see them grow more. Apple still has traits or her former, not so kind self even when she learned, which makes it a bit hard to remember that she isn’t the same character as she was at the start of everything. At least, for me.

Ever After High hid a lot of hidden coming of age references that kids didn't really notice. Now that I think about it, I find it much easier to relate to than when I was younger. I personally think that it dealt with mainly parental (actual parents or elder/parental figures) issues and discovering oneself outside of the societal views along with the sprinkle of LGBT. Along with emotional manipulation (apple and headmaster Grimm), gaslighting (apple and raven), and something I currently deeply relate to, which is the "follow all your parents' orders and be their picture-perfect person so that they love you because apparently, their love is "unconditional" only when you meet their conditions" which is showed is almost all the main parent interactions with their students. It shows how characters overcome different problems they face, and though in unrealistic ways, it does kind of help. I really need to rewatch this beautiful series!

Fun fact: In the books, apple and raven discover like notes or something between these two fairytale sisters. The notes were basically the sisters not liking their story and planning to run away despite the possibility of disappearing completely. If I remember correctly, Raven and Apple never did find out if the two sisters ran away successfully or if they did actually disappear.

Imo Apple and Raven are more interesting together because their opposite personalities and beliefs add alot the their relationship.

the reason why eah doesnt make episodes anymore is because of disney, they made descendants and said it was their idea when it was mattels, now they're scared that disney's going to get them so mattel stopped the franchise.
I miss ever after high I was sooo in love with Raven Queen, and Cerise. I miss it. I was also obsessed with the dress transformations in the wonderland series. It’s sad Epic Winter was the end.
Ever After High was such a huge part of my childhood. My cousins had the dolls and the books and were obsessed with them, and I felt left out because my parents wouldn't buy them for me, so I just borrowed my cousins' books and became obsessed. I saved up money to get me a Cerise Hood doll and I became literally obsessed until my cousins grew out of their EAH phase and I was still into it. I watched the online episodes but I didn't really like the newer ones or the movies because they went so far from the books' storyline (even though the show came first, I still preferred the books as they were definitely superior) so I kinda stopped liking it but I still think EAH is super underrated and I'm mad that Disney just ripped it off.

Tbh I never really got why people hated Apple and think she's an irredeemable entitled princess. Sure she did a lot of horrible stuff and her whole obsession with legacy and whatnot, but we have seen countless of times that this behavior of hers was a result of the amount of pressure that got put on her by Headmaster Grimm and her own mother. She's so desperate to follow suit with the perfect image because she is scared of what will happen to her if she doesn't and this has probably been going on her entire life.
I see a lot of people hating on a teenage girl who is obviously deeply hurt and traumatized, more than people hating on some old grown man who locked his own brother in a basement, taken away his ability to speak and actively lies and deceives everyone. Y'all are crazyyy

when i was younger, i didn't like apple that much as well. however, now that im older, i have a better understanding of her and i can say that i do like her character. however, this doesn't mean that i would excuse the wrong things she's done, of course not, but seeing her depth and her backstory just helped me sympathize with her. her heart is in the right place, and she's genuinely a good person, but her actions and the way she executes it are just not it. i feel like since she was pressured to be perfect all her life, this made it hard for her to know where she's wrong and that's why she seemed so selfish and hypocritical throughout the entire series. she was raised to think that she would do no wrong, that's why it's so painstakingly long for her to realize her mistakes. i also think that because of this, this made it hard for her to properly handle her supposed "negative" emotions, taking them out in a toxic way. she doesn't know how to handle her anger, annoyance, frustration, and etc. because she wasn't taught _how_ to handle it. this is literally why it was so easy for the evil queen to manipulate apple into getting her out of her mirror prison: riling apple up, knowing that she would take her frustrations out the wrong way, and the rest is history.
so, TLDR: you can like a character while still acknowledging their flaws and their wrong doings

I remember when me and my cousins used to be OBSESSED with this show. We collected the dolls and whenever we went over to their houses we were like “Do YoU wAnT tO pLaY eVeR aFtEr HiGh?” Or “Do YoU wAnNa WaTcH wAy To WoNdEr LaNd?”
It's been far too long since I thought of anything related to EAH but I'll never ever forget that Raven had to make the choice between dying and losing her freedom, and was so brave and staunch in her morals and beliefs that she chose death. It was the choice between letting a flawed system carry on in exchange for her life (albeit a shit one), or break the system and stick to what she considers right even if it means sacrificing herself.
Basically, what I'm saying is, before I had MadoMagi, I had Ever After High 💅
This series had no right to be as good as it was. I honestly miss when these doll brands put this much effort into their animated shows.

Just discovered EAH about a month ago. It’s really good, and it delves more into the fairytales by the Brothers Grimm, but also nursery rhymes and even mother goose stories. Even featuring legends and folktales like Baba Yaga was a welcome surprise. I’d love to see a reboot/continuation of this show one day, I wouldn’t mind streaming it either. It just had so much potential, and there’s still so much Mattel could do with this IP, including the storytelling.

Eah was something special tbh. It was my favorite show growing up and I still have a huge soft spot for it, I even got all the books! Part of me kinda hopes that if the mh reboot will be successful, then it might open the door for a Eah reboot. But unfortunately I wouldn't hold my breath on that since descendants is a thing

4:05 THIS IS WRONG!!! these dolls were not mid!! The quality in their designs & clothes were only seen in MH and never again since or before, the packaging was clever and cute, and to release a new doll with more exceptional outfits, THEY RELEASED A MOVIE!!! well written movies at that! These dolls were some of the best we’ve probably ever seen, give em some fuckin credit dude.
Holly's dragon games doll was the first and only ever after doll i had as a child and I cherished her along with a draculaura doll (Welcome to Dance the Fright Away). Like i brushed their hair before and after playing with them, I wouldn't let anyone else play with them, they always kept their original clothes - unlike my other dolls - and they were the very last dolls to go.
I'm so sad I got rid of them and wish I kept them. Maybe one day I'll buy new ones just for nostalgia.
I only had monster high dolls and seriously wish little me had more ever after dolls.
All I remember from the show is that I liked it, and the mad hatter lady because she was great
