Just found you last night. 3rd anniversary of the death of a close friend; I was up listening to music videos and watched your channel for hours. Thank you for keeping me company on memory road!
The BEST Tool song . I heard this when I was 17 back in 92 and I knew then I was listening to the pinnacle of listening to music!!! The journey has been amazing!!! I'm fortunate to be alive during Tool years!!
The Grit in Maynards voice in this song is insane!!! This one and Intolerance are what hooked me on this album in 93!! Such an incredible band!!! from day 1!
In my opinion "Undertow" is their best album hands down,No Fillers, every song is a banger,it's aggressive upfront and smashmouth....great reaction Polo
I'm so glad you love my favorite band! Now you need to go to a concert! In the 30+ years I've been listening to them, I haven't missed one comcert! I HAVE to see Maynard up close & personal! I'm a HUGE fan and turned every one I love into a fan! Lol! Or at least tried. They aren't for everyone. Just the most special people can enjoy this! I will always love them! ❤
I completely agree that he needs to see them live but he has said that he doesn’t like being in crowds. I am the same way but as long as you aren’t on the floor and have a seat it’s not bad at all. I saw them at a music festival once and was jammed in. I almost had a panic attack! It was awful! This guy was in front of me and was like 2 feet taller than me and was pressed up against my chest. He smelled horrible by the way. Then some drunk asshole was crowd surfing from the back and came over the top of me and kicked me in the head with his boot. I told my boyfriend I was out and we got the fuck outta there! In an arena setting it was fine and the concert was amazing!
This was the album that officially brought me to the tool Army when it first dropped. Then I went to lollapalooza 1996 and got to see them live for the first time. It was love at first sight from then on. I’ve been rocking Tool every since. ❤❤ you have the same reaction I did to each of these songs. I love it. Keep up the great reactions and content Polo! I appreciate you! Spiral out. ❤🤛🏼🤘🏼
Finally!! I have been patiently waiting for you to hear this track! It's one of my favorites, if not my favorite Tool song from my favorite Tool album!! Absolutely gets me pumped every time I hear it!! Glad you enjoyed it!!
everyone keeps talking about the big seven. but TOOL has a BUNCH of albums many don't seem to know about. "Bethlehem Abortion Clinic" & "The Christmas Album" are my favorite. not so much for the music per se, but their album covers are pretty great! Gay Rodeo Bethlehem Abortion Clinic Bad Breath Crapsteaks smothered in dictators • A collection of B sides Iced Pee Mungey the Clown Spring Boner Tetanus for Breakfast Two Weeners for Daddy The Other White Meat 3 Fat Brown Fingers Nurse Kedimella's Kit*chen I smell urine Bron Magic and Big Appetites • Music from the Movie Soundtrack Jelly Donut Just up that dirt road - Tool Live! At the Acropolis The Christmas Album
30 years later and I can reflect on the exact impression that I got from this album. Tool has been number 1 with no real comparisons ever since. No other band brings it like them, harder maybe but never so effective. "This is my love for you" means a little something different to any fan, but it will mean something to every fan of tool.
•• This song is the first time I noticed Danny’s drumming. Now it’s more commonly understood that he’s the dude ….but back in the day he was more slept on
They have an intensity that is unparalleled. Tool is so impressive in that their sound quality and musicality is just to intense. I don't know their stuff very well, but they are always so interesting and you get enraptured with their sound with almost every track. I know you did them so thanks for sharing with a few of us who also don't know Tool as well as others. Cheers Polo
So happy to have grown up listening to this band, waiting years for new releases, and it just stands the test of time. Be grateful that we are alive at the same time as these LEGENDS .
Thanks for the reminder for how badass this one is. Yeah I spent years not even knowing the lyrics to their music and once I got around to reading them it somehow felt like I knew them because they fit with the music so well. Tool replay value is insane. Still reaping the benefits. I’m all about a diverse range of music in your life, but if you had to choose one band to listen to for eternity - no brainer.
When you first started reacting to Tool songs you doubted the claim that they don’t have a bad song, but now , after going through nearly the entire catalog of their music, you proclaim it yourself. I love it. Undertow is a great album to listen to in a car (or the was it the Rodeo?) Paul’s bass really makes this album stand out amongst the rest.
So many of these songs say exactly what I said in my head to people who treat me like 💩. Loved ones especially. Thank you Maynard for screaming and raging as loud as I wanted to.

Undertow was the album that hooked me back in the early 90’s. Amazing stuff! I listened to that album hundreds of times and watching this it still sounds fresh and unreal
A friend turned me on to this when it was new. Still my favorite album. There is a hidden track on the CD. It will count all the way to track 69 I would love to watch that reaction. Keep on going Bro you are one of the best.
Hello Polo, I hope you are well. I'm happy to hear you've been introduced to Tool the one artist that goes with me to a desert island. BUT, if you'd like to try a song that I challenge to be matched vocally by anyone check out "Roads to Madness" by Queensryche. side note: Pure poetry - "Wings for Marie II" by Tool
After listening to all these Tool songs, you should really listen to the albums from start to finish. Each one is a masterpiece and every song is a piece that brings the album together. Edit-you should also check out Tool live at Glass House. Maynard in his prime. Unbelievable.
Another great TOOL song. TOOL is underrate by the average person. Thank you for spreading the word. If you are able to one day, go see TOOL live in concert. They sound like their album recordings. The intro was done by a Bolivian pipe band who just happened to be playing in the Sound City carpark. It's called "Oruro, Tierra de Ensuenõs" [a province and town in their country, "World of Dreams"]
I first heard this album well before streaming was a thing. It was always on CD. It's hard for me to hear individual tracks out of context....I always just listen to them in order. I have no idea how relevant the idea is anymore, but does anyone else enjoy hearing the tracks in order?
Polo has and will hear bands that make him feel certain ways, but he'll NEVER find another band that effects him in the way TOOL does!! This album is the penultimate!!!
tool considers opiate to be the first of seven albums released. undertow, second. aenima, third. salival (box set), fourth. lateralus, fifth. 10000 days, sixth. fear inoculum, seventh.
A friend asked me once. If I could only listen to one band for the rest of my life. What band would I choose? I said TOOL but in reality It's anything Maynard has been a part of. I love TOOL, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer. I don't think I could deny myself. I connect with everything, mostly that he's done. Crawl Away is a perfect example. It gets your blood going.
I use to crank this on my car with the amazing car stereo. I'd park and run off the jumbo deep cycle battery and the 12 sealed sub and 8" mids would rock on this album . My hearing is still good..lol People would come around and enjoy the concert.
Ive always loved the undertow album, it's honestly probably my favorite. I never understood the hate it gets. Bottom, crawl away, and flood are the shit!!!
Mr. Polo , I made a suggestion that you take a listen to the Rock Band Steely Dan , it has a Rock - Jazz sound . They were founded in 1971 by Walter Becker and Donald Fagen . Thanks for being a fellow Tool fan Polo.
This might be my new fave
Is False Meridian from Invent Animate still coming? Requested it on patreon a while back now
Have you heard Tools first ep "opiate"? different from newer Tool music. Saluta!
If you don't like this album then you didn't grow up with Tool. This album will always be 🔥
Truth
It's totally different from all their albums that came after. I love this album
🔥🔥🔥
The EP "Opiate" kills too. More primitive than this one.
It’s as simple as that.
Crawl Away is my all time favorite TOOL track. It’s raw, it’s perfect, and it was the beginning. It’s flawless.
Me too!!
@@melissarobinson7640 Ditto that. I still, to this day, get chills when this is on, and it's always on repeat in the gym. Imo a perfect song.
The BEST Tool song . I heard this when I was 17 back in 92 and I knew then I was listening to the pinnacle of listening to music!!! The journey has been amazing!!! I'm fortunate to be alive during Tool years!!
I'll say it again, you can't mess with classic Tool!
The passion, intentionality, and collaboration that is always present on every single track is what sets Tool apart from almost all other bands.
One of the most underrated songs ever
Oddly enough it's been 25 yrs since TOOL played this gem live. 🖤🤘
Those pedal kicks from Danny were 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@chrisdriver7776Undoubtedly 👏
Twenty Five Years....enuff said!
I know makes me feel old lol
@@parkerb9010 Same here. 🙄 Maybe they will play this aggressive piece this fall and relive the good days. One is hoping. 😎
The Grit in Maynards voice in this song is insane!!! This one and Intolerance are what hooked me on this album in 93!! Such an incredible band!!! from day 1!
This song and 4° have always been my favorites off of this album. Killer stuff.
what about Bottom ?
@@thomastaylor9579 Great song too. It's all great.
I don't have a favorite track because they're all my favorites but if I did, it'd be 4 degrees.
Polo, this album turned me into a Tool fan. The aggressiveness is what drew me in at the age of 20 when it came out. Glad it is drawing you in too.
Me too!!
Same after I heard sober i bought the Album and quickly realised the Album was fire.
I was around the same age 20-21.
Same here , heard it in tower records on headphones because the artwork caught my eye. It was this very song , I instantly bought the cd
Same... literally,... exactly.. the...same.
Undertow is such a underrated album. A lot of new fans latch on to their more progressive music but Undertow is a blast from start to finish.
In my opinion "Undertow" is their best album hands down,No Fillers, every song is a banger,it's aggressive upfront and smashmouth....great reaction Polo
💯
Couldn't agree more
Lead singer is from my home town. Saw them live in some tiny bar on a random Wednesday night back in ‘91. Absolutely brilliant.

Seeing Tool live is a necessity! Definitely NOT at a festival though if you have anxiety issues. ❤
The raw visceral anger in this track makes it one of my favorite tracks on this album. You can just hear the aggressiveness in his voice at the end.
Undertow is my favorite album. I agree, millions should be listening to it.

One of my favorite bands of all time. Saw them live back in the day and will never forget it.
If they put out a best of album, it should be a complition of their ambient/drone tracks just to say FU to all who skip them

One of my favorite Tool songs. So aggressive. Please check out the LIVE version of this one from the JC Dobbs concert. It's incredible.
Maynard doesn’t blink the whole song, so intense.
Yeahhh that's the one
Great reaction as usual! Once again I’m going to remind you that you need to go see Tool on tour this fall.
Already spent $2400 on tool tickets for the Halloween show

As the song ended my brain immediately heard the intro to swamp song. This album was on heavy rotation in my house as a teenager when it came out.
If you haven't already, you need to listen to Passenger by the Deftones with Maynard doing some vocals.

I have waited patiently for this one 😊. One of my favorites and an awesome opener to an awesome album!
Love it man im so glad to see u give them real chance and to see u fall on love w tool is awesome. U are now apart of the army
Love me some early TOOL. ✌️
I first heard this album well before streaming was a thing. It was always on CD. It's hard for me to hear individual tracks out of context....I always just listen to them in order. I have no idea how relevant the idea is anymore, but does anyone else enjoy hearing the tracks in order?
Yes!!!
One of the BEST tracks by TOOL. Represent, TA ❤
The chuggy bass in this album when it came out is what grabbed my ears. Loved their forward bass, instead of hiding it far in the back like most bass.
I was a Tool fan from the first song that I heard off of this album
Undertow is may favorite of the Tool albums. Just about every track - except the last one - is fire.

Is it a Tool album? I rock with it. This was most of our first one... and it was absolutely amazing, and still is.
You're not wrong. One of the best. Glad you are doing this whole album. 🔥
Remember, Undertow was their first Full Album, way back in 1993. All that they had done before then was Opiate, which was an EP.
