    I’ve been rowing on the Concept 2 for a few years at this point, and I find the force curve to be a very useful tool to display the quality of my rowing strokes in realtime. I personally leave this display up on all of my rows, and spy on it often to make sure I’m getting the most out of my strokes (be them light or hard). Anyway, I really enjoyed this video… thank you for posting all of the good info on this essential tool! 👍👍

    Had my feet in stretchers for the first time in 60 years over the last few weeks. My power is for shit, but my force curve is textbook - muscle memory lasts! I love this feature.

      Force Curves are similar to fingerprints, they don’t change much once they are grooved in.

    Nice job explaining this feature!
    Thanks 🙏

    Ho do you recommend the water rower? Or the erg is better?

    Why does my curve star a third UP the Y axis please?

      Could be that you have a good connection at the beginning of your drive or there is an issue with your monitor.

    My experience while using Concept2 concerning the force curve function is very bad. I don't use it. It is not real and doesn't give feedback to work with it. My experience with RP3 is much better. I understood technical / mechanically the C2 is not able to provide usable a power curve (because it measures the chain movement) where RP3 is providing the proper curve (because it shows the accelaration of the fly wheel). What is your experience with RP3 comparing with C2?

    • @andychow5509
      @andychow5509 ปีที่แล้ว

      The C2 is curve highly accurate, except that it undervalues everything by 25W. See study by Boyas et al. (2006) claim that the C2 underestimates the power produced by the rower by approximately 25W. This is argued to be relatively consistent in both low and high-power values.
      inaccurate
      Finally the C2 does self-calibration every recovery stroke and numbers are consistent from one machine to the next. Does the RP3 do this?

    So why is my curve flat ?

    • @Neil_Bergenroth_Rowing_Coach
      @Neil_Bergenroth_Rowing_Coach  ปีที่แล้ว

      A flat curve indicates a poor connection to the machine. If you are able to get your bodyweight on the handle, and maintain continuous acceleration, the curve should be more like a haystack. Contact me through my website and I will help you for free.

      @@Neil_Bergenroth_Rowing_Coach I have the same issue with my new machine (as a newbie) -- the curve is very flat and I end up with 3500 meters when I do 20 minute beginner workout videos and the coach is saying 5000 meters even though I am matching their stroke rate. Does this mean I'm just not pulling hard enough with legs/hands? I have the tension at 4 FYI.

      @@Froggywentcourtin It most likely means you are not connecting on the drive with using your bodyweight and pushing and prying with your biomechanics effectively. If you are well connected, and your acceleration is continuous you will see a haystack on your force curve. You should seek out some coaching to help your fix your application and biomechanics so that you can use your bodyweight effectively to create more power. It's hard to do a full assessment without seeing video of you stroke mechanics and application. Hope this helps to some degree.

      @@Froggywentcourtin A fixed target of 5000 meters in 20 minutes (with/without warming up?) sounds a bit random to me. But then again, I don't know your age/sex/bodytype/fitness,..... My advice would be to the technique right first without worrying too much about speed and such. With better technique relaxation, fitness and speed will surely follow. Enjoy the process!

    Wait isnt x the length of the stroke??? I think you got something wrong there

      On the Concept2 PM monitor the horizontal access is time.
      The machine derives a reading every 0.015 seconds. On the RowPerfect the horizontal axis is distance.
