    All the best with the Kato track swap-out, sir. Hopefully you wont have too much out of line and all goes in easy enough. If there's enough of the cork comes up easily enough, it'll maybe do sidings or the like. What can I know? It's your lay-out, sir! Thank you for posting. Most encouraging. Cheers!

  • @wilzdart
    @wilzdart 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Ah Kato track, I use painters caulk to fix the track to foam board cheap and works very well. I have also used in the past hot glue gun, both if you have to take up a section easy with little clean up. Your old cork road bed, I repurposed it, take the beveled edge and put it up next to the kato track to form a natural looking ditch that all RR have for drainage. Like I said before solder together sections of track for better contact but not turn outs. The one thing for sure to check before installing a turn out is make sure the turn out is in gauge. I have had new ones that were out. Lastly if you ballast your track cover the opening on the turn out and get some graphite for those you find are sticking or slow.

    Back In 2005, I switched to Kato in a big way. Now that I'm a few years older I appreciate its flexibility and reliability all these years. I use #4 with no in the yards and industrial areas as well as single and double crossovers with no issues. I always ensure at least 4 inches of the straight track before #4, DXO and SXO, never before or after a curve. So far trouble-free running with correctly gauged wheels. For an old guy that's a pretty cool intro. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos.

    • @brianpagemodeltrains
      @brianpagemodeltrains  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's exactly what happened to me. It was really neat to be able to "fudge" things with Atlas track, and I will probably use it again for my lower level layout, but the Kato track runs so smooth, it's just awesome.

    Hi Brian - Those ground throws you are ripping up, what make etc are they?
    I am building a N Gauge layout like yourself and I like the idea of being able to use them in my goods yard as they would in real life.
    Main line will be covered by point levers in the control centre.
    I am using Peco code 55 track and no one over this side of the pond makes our ground throws or similar and I think your ones might be ideal.
    Just found your channel whilst surfing through TH-cam and I like what I see, so I am catching up with your channel from this video and also the very first if that makes sense.
    Regards Chris

    • @brianpagemodeltrains
      @brianpagemodeltrains  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those ground throw levers are made by Caboose Industries. If you can check out Midwest Model Railroad's site at midwestmodelrr.com/, you can see several different models of these ground throws. Glad to have you aboard, Chris!
