The weight difference between the two trucks certainly showed when going into and coming out of the turns

Merry Christmas 🎄 first of all. I give it to the Xmaxx for steering. It turns better. And you are spot on with the turning on the Kraton 8S. You have to be more aggressive in the braking to get the truck to pitch into the turns. It's annoying. I've even upgraded to a true 1/5 scale servo and still to turn this truck takes a bit of braking to manipulate the turn. That's what I believe to be the primary drawback when compared to the Xmaxx. But once you master the technique you're golden. Definitely something you're going to have to drive a lot to get the feel of it.
You got that right. I noted it as soon as I got it a few years ago. They just push bad. But proper driving makes a huge difference.
I love the sound of the Castle systems under braking.
Just like full size race cars, slow in fast out with the corner. You have the speed with the Kraton but you are sliding way past the apex of the corners losing you a lot of time.

I wonder if the Xmaxx turns in better cos it doesn’t have the anti sway bar 🤷♀️ or maybe less weight pushing it straight on like the Kraton . Either way they both look like fun 👏
Have a kraton exb and talion exb, kraton no sway bars. My talion is better around the track but the kraton definitely has better turn in without any braking. I have found extra throttle helps me rear steer when it pushes.

Wow, great driving skills man!!! I dont think the xmaxx would've gotten 19.4 without the widemaxx in there. I love the track setup! Definitely gotta have some guys over and race em!

I think it's obvious the kraton can lay down more power, jumps better, etc. Curious how tires and tuning will help the kraton there has to be a way to make it turn in like a beast
I haven’t found a way to make it turn in better. They had the same tires so that’s the same. The Kraton is heavier for sure.
Awesome comparison The Wide kit on the XMAXX made that thing a whole different beast I was impressed it hung with the Kraton not surprised just impressed compared to the stock version I still think I'd rather have the Kraton but not by much though lol

Can anybody tell me what that rattle noise is on the xmaxx when it jumps you can clearly hear that in the video. Mine makes that noise allso but not allways. Is it maybe when the gears heat up or the drive shaft or something?. Thanks.

That was an interest comparison run, think the Xmaxx runs felt better and more consistent in terms of lap time. Did looks awesome fun man 👌😁
Xxmaxx may be more for fun and forgiving but on course like this kratins way will have faster times , im enjoying the maxx but have decide do I want just except for fun or mod to perform at the high speeds like arrmas/losis . Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄

I would like a video comparison amount the three diferent gearing configuration on the x-maxx: 18/54, 20/50 and 22/46. Finally, compare it to the current configuration you are running on.
The only way I could even try that would be to use the orange Xmaxx as the yellow one can’t get that low on gearing.
Was the Xmaxx lowered to the same height as the Kraton off the ground? Shock angle, springs etc.?

Merry Christmas, great morning video 👍. My 2 xmaxx s don’t seem to turn very well like yours, what have you don’t to the steering setup other than the wide kit? I run stock servos on 7.4v and put a spacer under my saver spring to tighten it slightly.
The stock bellcrank wore out on this one. It has the 2085x servo and Vitavon bellcrank. That helped a lot.
Upgrading the bellcrank helps out alot and I've also got traxxas turnbuckes for the steering and I have notice a difference difference in tracking with them.
Get rid of that stock servo. Promodeler servo is 100x better.

I get what you saying in the curves I have the 6s v5 it pushes hard Like you said with a little break I’m back on the throttle :) i’m pretty rough man I somehow managed to bust the steel gears today in my servo lol it’s OK because I have fun doing it “ full send “ yes. Right in to a tree “ I wasn’t recording:) I was just out for Christmas showing off !

Yeah they did and now I know that it’s a 15-20 second lap track. Which is pretty quick IMO.
@@ExocagedRC you got room for a couple more features. Low speed obstacles eat up time. Throw something technical on each end of your strait and you'll add another fifteen seconds to a lap.
So would you say the kraton runs better with the max 5 vs the xlx2 you put in the xmax?
The xlx2 is stronger. I’ve got the xlx2 with 1100 in the outcast 8s and it’s crazy strong

IDK I gave it to Xmaxx because the track was run in better for Kratan and the Xmaxx was more consistent. Kratan had more laps to achieve that lower time too unless something was edited from the Tmaxx.
On this one all the runs were there. I cut the scenes at the same point for each lap to get the lap times. All Laps were there
The K8S will still be more controllable since it has a flat chassis even if the Xmaxx is just as wide now. One is a MT with a high center of chassis, while the other has a flat chassis and it's a truggie.
Servo in the Kraton and XMAXX matters too. I don’t think the stock servo in either is adequate. I changed my XMAXX to a Promodeler DS930BLHV and my Kraton to a Spektrum S9120.

Dam that Kraton was smashing gliding over everything. U can tell you was really trying hard using the xmaxx compared to the Kraton.
These things don't run hot with 45/47 gearing? My typhon runs 42/35 xlx 6s gets 145 on 1 pass..4585 can 1250kv

Looks like the Kraton would win for fastest lap, but a 20 lap race it looks like the X-Max would win… X-Maxx is more forgiving, Kraton takes a higher degree of driver skill to pull off those consistent lap times.
Yeah and if the Kraton goes over you gotta wait for a Marshall or go get it. The Xmaxx can flip back over.

the max is alot lighter. when racing lighter means faster acceleration and faster more controlled deceleration.
True but balance and low center of gravity is more important IMO The Xmaxx can get turns tighter but it gets a bit wild as where the Kraton just stays flat.
