      Lol this bike is by far the fastest 600cc sport bike at the moment ahaha, so much that it's not even that far behind the last generation R1, but then again the last generation R1 was quite a lot slower than the other 1000's at that time

    • @thereferee5547
      @thereferee5547 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Riccardo Merlini, If you're going to reply to a English written comment, especially when you're disagreeing with it, reply in English or don't reply at all because you're the only person that is going to understand it.

    • @thereferee5547
      @thereferee5547 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Riccardo Merlini, The ZX6R is by far the fastest 600 of this generation, the last gen R1 (2014 and before) is by far the slowest 1000 sport(super) bike, the R1 was so slow and the ZX6R is so fast to the point where in a drag race there isn't much difference at all, the R1 will win but not by far. I have no idea how Kawasaki have managed to achieve this but the technology in the ZX6R is incredible to achieve the performance it has. Also I guarantee around a track the ZX6R will win.

    • @thereferee5547
      @thereferee5547 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      And if you disagree look at the over amazing things Kawasaki has achieved. The H2R is 998cc and look at the performance of that!

    The 636 doesn't look like the 300, the 300 was designed to look like the 636. It's the reason why the 300s look so sporty for a quarter liter class bike. Also how can you say it doesn't feel powerful when you haven't pushed it even slightly? And changing KRTC modes will not be noticeable until you loose traction

  • @RyanSchechtman
    @RyanSchechtman 8 ปีที่แล้ว +71

    Love my 2013 636. The bike, like all inline 4s, has a powerband high in the rev range. Nothing like a 300 so I don't know what c2w is talking about.

    feels like a 300... I just sold my 300 and I am picking up my 636 in the next few days... it felt nothing like 300 in the seat.

    • @brendan636
      @brendan636 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Mahboob Islam I love it, I would say I am taller than the average rider and it is very comfortable though when I am riding the seat does feel very big, you have lots of room to move your body Into a very aggressive position.
      Really the only way to know if it is the right choice is to go and test ride it..
      Wouldn't really trust what anyone says online, but saying that it is the only 600 with abs and traction control...
      everyone also says it has a much better mid range power band... So really I don't think there is another choice , and would say if your not happy with a 636 get a 1000..
      It may have even been chase that said the low power setting on a zx10 feels like a 636

    • @brendan636
      @brendan636 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Yassin Bennis if you are a confident dirt bike rider then I'm you should be perfectly fine, just a confidence thing, start slow on the 636 and when you get moving you won't have an issue
      Just be easy on the throttle when you take off to not lift the front wheel in first
      The 636 is super safe with ktracs and abs... You also have low power mode
      but I ride this thing in full power all the time and in wet wether you can open up the throttle full in first gear and the wheel does not spin unless you turn ktrac off

  • @kitcho75

    You obviously did zero research before you rode this bike and knew nothing about the power modes and traction control or rhe slipper clutch. Very poor review/ride. If you watch any online reviews about this bike vs the honda 600rr, yamaha r6, daytona 675r or the suzuki gsxr600 you will find 9 out of 10 riders put the zx6r on top each time.
    Yes this I know this video is just "your opinion" but at least go faster than 35mph and get out of 3rd gear before bagging something.
    And no I dont own one and no im not buying one. I just know this bike is one of the best middle class super sports around.

    • @XPsychowaffleX
      @XPsychowaffleX 9 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      kitcho75 except this is a "first ride and review" which is a good indication that he has little to no background information about the bikes beforehand. so no, it is not a bad review. it is an honest review for someone riding a bike for the first time and knowing very little about it.

    • @yourfastlife
      @yourfastlife 9 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      BuhLakeh Let me guess. You think if he had prepared for this as suggested by kitcho, he would still not know what the power modes are simply because it's his first ride? Somehow he would forget?
      Let me clue you in. First ride just means first RIDE not first HEAR as in first you heard about the bike. It means you have not had time to really get used to it and tell you what it's like to ride it. It means you have not had time to take it all in as for RIDING it. It means, don't expect much from his feedback about RIDING it. It however has NOTHING to do with knowledge of the bike itself. A person who has never ridden it could give way more info than he did.
      It's not like it's a Ninja H2 the day they announced it with no time to study specs. This bike is from 2013. I did a review years ago that have all the specs so you don't even have to read about it.

    • @XPsychowaffleX
      @XPsychowaffleX 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Chase is a yamaha rider. Almost every bike he's owned has been a yamaha. If you expect him to be a guru or know the ins and outs of a brand he's never owned, even with ten minutes of research, then you're assuming he had a lot more free time to just to learn all the tech specs for a brand he doesn't plan on owning. I've never owned a kawasaki, and every brand (yes even brands with riding modes) all label them differently, change them differently, and have different dash set ups. Just because you think it's common sense for wht abbreviations on a dash state, it's not common knowledge for.someone that's not used to riding without prior knowledge of how that brand designated them on the dash. Jesus christ you people are all just Butt hurt because he doesn't like the ninja. It's personal preference for Christ's sake.

    • @yourfastlife
      @yourfastlife 9 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      BuhLakeh When I did my review of this bike, I was not and am still not a guru of it but I at LEAST knew the basics. Power modes would be one of them. Before I test any bike I always read up the power and TRC modes. There is a lot more advanced stuff to know, so this is basics. If you don't even know that, then you basically did no research. You don't even have to know how to use the modes...just at LEAST know what they do!
      Your argument has no logic at all though. I hate harley bikes but I bet you if I tested one, I'd know more about it than he did about this bike. You don't have to have ANY experience with a brand to spend a few minutes reading about it.

  • @gazsermark
    @gazsermark 9 ปีที่แล้ว +72

    As for the power modes F and L, F is Full, L is low, and if you put it in L the bike is limited to 80% of the power but ONLY ABOVE 8K rpm. That's pretty much why you didn't feel a thing. KTRC is the traction control, 3 is the most restrictive and you can also turn it off completely. I'm really glad I got this bike after the 300, mostly because I'm not a professional rider whatsoever so the smooth power band does help me get used to the power. Then again, if you want something wilder, get a full system plus a Dyno tune, I'm pretty sure the dyno guys can give it a little more aggressive mapping :) The looks are a personal thing, I for one love how it looks, it's nothing wild but it's beautiful imo :) Thanks for the review Chase!

    • @gazsermark
      @gazsermark 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      puro1231 Yep, you are right, he didn't feel anything because he didn't go over 8-9k rpm, and the significance of the L and F modes lays in the top half of the rev range :)

    Ok so I owned the 2013 636 for 4 years. Ive ridden over 40, 000km on it now, taken to the track on multiple occasions and ridden on a thousand sunday rides with litre bikes - this bike has been brilliant. The review is a joke. Im finally upgrading to a ZX10R but cannot praise this bike enough. Im not actually even going to sell it. This will now be my track only bike.
    Quick run down
    Blows all other 600s out the water(ive ridden them all)
    Destroys all in corners
    Great as a every day rider
    Beautiful engine and if you replace with a full system exhaust its such a pleasure to ride.
    Simple and effective traction control (saved me on multilple occasions)
    Best bike I have ever owned

  • @Paulshizzle
    @Paulshizzle 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    In case you didn't know:
    F stands for Full mode and L stands for Low mode. In full power mode, you’ll have a higher horsepower
    and Torque, meaning you have more power to go faster and quicker. Now the low power mode, you will have a low
    horsepower and torque total which is the setting you’d use riding in the city
    to have a better gas mileage. The numbers are the traction control, obviously
    the lowest number means that you have the lowest traction and 3 being the
    highest means you have the highest traction, which is where you want to be if
    caught during inclement weather.

  • @AV8R307
    @AV8R307 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think what you're talking about is the concept of the riding position. With the R6, especially pre 09, you sit on top of the bike. The idea being that it gives you a higher center of gravity, allowing the bike to toss from side to side better. The Suzuki and Kawasaki the rider sits as more of a part of the bike, which gives you a greater sense of being a part of the bike for lack of a better description. It gives you more confidence and makes things smoother and easier. To me, it feels like you are one with the bike rather than having making the bike work for you... if that makes sense.

    I really like your videos Chase but I was shocked when I saw this one. I went from a Ninja 300 to the ZX6R and they are completely different animals. The ZX feels about 10 times faster and about 5 times more stable. The 300 is great and looks cool but it is not a true sports bike riding position and performance wise. The ZX6R simply put is amazing and worthy of the price. Also the riding position is quite different. As you compare this to a 'big 300' it concerns me people may think this is a starter bike.. please don't. If you sneeze on this bike while on the freeway you will be accidentally doing triple digits.

    I find my 2009 zx6r granted its not the newer 2013 636. Mine really really kicks in at 14000 - 16000 rpm its kinda un predictable when hard on the throttle from 0. Its good and bad I guess. I still need to get used to it. But yeah its really ready to pull you in the rev range. But below that it is very docile. So I see where your coming from.

    How about the low grunt? the 03-04 is know for their low end power. Hence the stunt community choosing it...

      It has great low end power and will go in any gear around 2500 and up. it's a smooth ride. it gets up when you hit around 12k IMO. when you turn the power mode on F and the KTRC off, its quicker. but all in all it's fast man.

    I own a 2013 636 so I am probably biased but I think you were pretty unfair to the bike in the limited amount of testing you did on it. Believe me, the 636 has nothing (and I do mean NOTHING) in common with the Ninja 300. It is widely regarded as the best supersport on the market right now and definitely has more power than any of the other 600's while being pretty close to the lightest. No supersport is going to wow you at 5k rpm but you get it past 8k and there is significant power all the way to the 16k rpm redline. Ergonomically, the 636 is the most comfortable bike in its class to my rear end, though you are right about the mirrors, which are too small and angular to be of much use. Would've really loved to see you actually open her up and really test the bike on a curvy mountain road rather than just putting around in traffic but I know you are limited in what you can do with a dealership bike. Thanks for the vid!

  • @Jakalwarrior
    @Jakalwarrior 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    ZX6R owner here. The slow feel is the gearing. Its the bikes biggest weakness. The gearing is really tall and close together. Great for the track, not so great for the road. You can lower the gearing and then its a beast but then 6th is short meaning its wound up on the highway. Biggest thing Kawasaki could do to make it more fun on the street is a wider gear spread with lower low gears and the same 6th.

      +Klean Kut Konversions. i sat on a 636 last week! im flat footed on it with ease! being 6.3 i have heard the r6 is a slightly bigger bike! but 4 me the 636 is the best of 600 ccs! looks amazing and in green! the cbr would be my 2nd choice. .i hate the dated dash! the r6 is all top end! while the 636 and cbr have the lower mid range punch! the gigser comes in 3rd for me. .and the r6 last! i wouldnt buy a 600 gigser! the 750 yes! what ive heard though, the 636 and the 750 are very simular! of course the 750 has more power and torque. .its not massively noticeable up to 150 160 mph . .thats quite fast enougth 4 me! .:-)

    I just bought this bike yesterday, upgraded from the 300. It is very tame but the low end power is so unique. 6 gear @ 3500 revs and a little pull of the throttle and it gooooes. but it isn't comfy to say the least lol. I sat on an R6 and a CBR600rr and those were perfect for comfort. The GSXR was nice too. but for looks and power, I think the ninja 636 is still a competitor despite its similarities to the 300.

    The smooth downshift is because of the slipper clutch, the "flippibility" is down to the arc of the tyre and the angle of the forks. You won't feel any difference with KTRC unless you're pushing the limits of the grip on the tyres.

      I'm 6'4 240 lbs. and I own a 2011 zx6r. It's pretty comfortable for a supersport that is. Not as leaned over like a Triumph Daytona or R6

      +Zipeng Li I own one now for about two months and its dope man. your height doesnt matter as much as your inseam. Sit on a couple and get a feel. The r6 i rode made me tip toe like crazy but i can flat foot my ninja.
