comparing a novelty product like 4r and 6r is just dumb. Many owners of zx6r even zx10r have already purchased the zx4r just cuz it's a novelty product an engineer pinnacle for today's standards plus hey no one makes 400cc i4s ig. Zx6r is being criticised cuz it actually has competition with the 650-700cc class with almost the same power. Whenever I see someone call zx4r overpriced I just can't get it, why would someone compare it for practicality etc. People definitely vote with their wallet but I don't think Kawasaki is asking for it in 4r's case. Not all models are available which are cheaper like 4r or SE so yeap they aren't targeting much sales there plus it sells well enough to get you on a waiting list.

After a few months I decided to throw on some helibars to make it a bit more comfy and couldn't be happier with it.

They're not in the same class, the ZX6R is in the same class of the CBR 600RR,also it used to compete with the R6 when it was still in production not the R7.

Love my 2024 ZX6R, much better value than the ZX4RR and hell of a lot more fun. I will say I wish Kawasaki had added an IMU, made the Quickshifter up/down and a slipper clutch.

I’m 5’11 and can flat foot it. It’s pretty comfortable for me, and I have back and shoulder issues. They are practically nonexistent whilst riding my Zx6R.
All i know is those headlights look great behind my GSXR750. Wishing for an electric suite upgrade though its been a long time for Suzuki! Granted, even with no assists the machine is telepathic so i dont miss them.
I love the fact that Kawasaki is still making a 600ish supersport. The reast are dead in the water. One thing that i will never understand is riding modes for a 600. How useless is that function!? My GSXR600 has 2 modes and i think it is absolutely useless. 600's dont need modes: if its raining dont rev it out, if you want to go fast rev it out. Really doesnt make much sense to me.
Bikes intended for racing have always had two modes to be used in conjunction with TC (traction control), with one devoted to rain mode, since about 2003, and those systems eventually trickled down to production race bikes. The rain mode doesn't remove horsepower but rather limits the rate of acceleration of the engine, and so the traction control system doesn't have to be used so heavily or suddenly. While 120-130 hp doesn't sound like a lot compared to modern super bikes, on a dry track 600cc bikes do light up their TC, and in the rain they're just a handful. However, I cannot see riding modes being used without TC; you wouldn't be able to effectively use rain mode without TC. The only thing you'd have is a longer throttle throw. TC-equipped bikes tower over their non-TC brethren in race conditions, by the way, and curiously British supersports bans TC from competition even in the rain.
It's a good thing to have for the riders that aren't as skilled as you, especially when the roads are wet. If other brands offer rider aids I'm sure Kawasaki will also offer it to remain competitive
I consider myself an experienced rider riding since circa 1989 age 15 and I welcome the modes. I currently have an R7 which does not have a need for them but I feel a 600 does. The Zx-6R is the only 600 I would consider over a R7 for the road because of the extra torque over the other 600. Watching this space...
Seems like it's a great platform to build on. I love how you mentioned some of the things that could be upgraded to dial in the performance. It would be great if you could do some preliminary upgrades to see how the package that most of us would ride fares. Like seriously, who doesn't tune the ecu and get an exhaust?
$11,300…I bought a brand new R6 in 2015 for only $1000 less. Everything is overpriced now. These days when there are new liter class superbikes priced in the $25-40k range, this isn’t bad at all. I’d gladly pay that for a new 600.
Kawasaki just made this bike accordingly to its prize point... For people that will be doin racing on these or wants a full track bike set up theyll just go with a different ECM/ECU, electeonic package, track focus brakes and suspensions...
You got to take the hand cuffs off the bike. Full exhaust system, air filter, block off plates, velocity stacks, and ecu flash with full dyno tune and its a whole another bike brother. I have a 23" will all the above listed mods putting 123 HP to the wheel here down at sea level Florida and bike rips. Linear power band that pulls hard throughout entire rpm range. (Sprint P08 Filter, graves block off plates, graves version 2 velocity stacks, graves full titanium exhaust system, and ecu flash & dyno tune by exclusive tuned). Thanks Chuck Graves for awesome aftermarket mods!
The 24 will never make the power of your 23 courtesy of the new cams. It was ruined the same way the third gen 'Busa was ruined by changing the cam profiles to pass Euro emissions.
The revised cams may make it difficult. However, my guess is that the butt dyno won't know the difference between this gen and last once it's flashed. It'll still be fast! Could make more if you get a full system/delete the cat, which also appears to have gotten bigger this time round.
Initially I was a bit annoyed after watching this video, however as an owner of this bike. I do sort of get where he's coming from after my first ride with it, having owned a 2015 ZX6R. It's still a good bike but with some small tweaks it could be next level.
Woo! Local track. Watching moto America there was fun. I had a 06 636 and wished I took it there. I don't care for the looks of this bike. It's a shame cause kawi can make a good looking motorcycle.
Damn there's a few haters here in the comments. I own 500 zx4rr zx6r (40th) and I don't need to race to enjoy myself. Im happy living my dreams. If they weren't so good then why can't you find them where i am? Sold out lol
I bought first 600 ninja in 85 have owned 3 zx r 6's after that let me say this not one is a dud. kawasaki has not made a dud sport bike ever that I know of. if so enlighten me which year and model was not as good or better than the competition. Fact is all 4 of the big 4 have been neck and neck since 1980s
If ur a race guy addict go with 1000s But if u just want to go point a to point b and love the inline 4 sound n still be cool on a race bike look a like.its good enough Some use it for stunt Theres different market for 6rS
Completely wrong info on the ‘24 it’s the exact same bike as the ‘19-‘23 just the dash and fairing design on the front are different. The engine is the same exact engine I’ve already researched this. Exhaust is exactly the same.
430 lbs wet for the non-abs model, 4 lbs heavier than 2023, and 3 lbs heavier than a bmw s1000rr with 40% more power. Similar weight increase in the cbr600rr. No wonder this class is dying. It's becoming less of a real supersport and more a super uncomfortable, heavy, supersport lookalike.
I really wish the MC industry would openly address these emissions regulations as a direct result of liberal policies, particularly in the EU. Its unnecessarily killing the sport and people need to start fighting back politically.
"Reshaped camshafts enhance mid-range power of the engine" Interpretation: peak power is down, emissions standards are hampering high RPM small displacement engines, and Euro5 compliance forced us. I guarantee you put this 2024 against any 2006 ZX-6R (636) and fully un-cork, full race exhaust (track use only), and ECU flash and the 2006 engine is going to have noticeably more power. I'm seeing a trend in the last decade where throttle bodies are getting smaller, catalytic converters are getting bigger and more numerous, cam profiles are getting more mild, and in general bikes are getting heavier. In order for manufacturers to keep the perception of value or "new" going, they keep festooning more and more electronics, controls, technology on bikes which may.... or may not change performance numbers in a good way. Things aren't really that much better, in spite more silicon chips, wires, computers, fancy displays. But the good thing, the same motorcycles costs about DOUBLE what they used to. 🤪 I bought a new 2006 ZX-6R back in the day out the door for less than $8400, all taxes and fees included. And no, salary has NOT kept up with the cost of goods. Who's going to "regulate" CARB and EPA? Who stops them from turning into monsters?
@@delusion2987 While 1L superbikes have gained about 30 horsepower in 20 years, it's been at the cost of mid-range thrust. There is scientific limits to how much power a given cylinder can create, short of forced-induction. The trend is more horsepower! which means you simply take the horsepower formula and add more RPM to it. In order to do that, you have to shorten the stroke (reduce piston acceleration). You have to make throttle bodies bigger to flow more air at 15,000 RPM. To do that, you reduce intake velocities at mid-rpm which reduces mid-range torque. And so on and so on. All in all, the current superbikes cost double, don't actually make power (until you spend another 4 grand uncorking them, throwing away a grand worth of expensive compliance parts), and don't feel as exciting, raw, risky, nor do they sound it (try Hoover vacuum). I know about inflation. I know about it every time I buy food or pump gas or buy socks. I also know how inflation works. It's the Federal Reserve printing money, Congress spending it, and the people having their services more and more compromised for less and less compensation, not to mention their children's childrens' children footing the bill. While currency no longer has anything backing it when gold was removed in the early 70's, oil production isn't backing it either as much of that has been shut down. Currency is growing worthless. Look at a dozen historical charts. In the last 3 years Congress has doubled the debt which took the last 215 years to create.

To be clear, the Ducati V2 is limited at 75% throttle…so yeah, the ZX6R is yet another same old same old, with new graphics.
But after seeing what they can do with the 400RR with just a cam swap this 600 should be around $160 horsepower after a cam and tune
love my 2024 40th
Can you use the quickshifter without letting go of the gas or will it damage it ? Sorry but just bought this bike and never had a quick shifter before
Just the opposite, you're more likely to cause damage if you back off the throttle, it's designed to shift wide open.
Is this good for a 188 cm rider ? Thanks for the review !
So, you are 6'1" ? I would say , yes. I am 5'6" and fit a bit small on a 2023 zx6r, and my buddy is 6'3" and fits pretty good on it.
I’m 5’11 and can flat foot it. It’s pretty comfortable for me, and I have back and shoulder issues. They are practically nonexistent whilst riding my Zx6R.
what shim did you use? GRAVES? and is it placed up top between the clevis and the frame or top of shock and clevis?
@@ehiggins7476 very valid point. Never really took the new rider into consideration
My duke 390 2024 has TC launch control, 3 riding mods, cornering abs, cruse control, super moto ABS z qucik shifter, slip assist clutch, 5 click adjustbale folks, adjustbale rear suspension, blutooth connectivity, navigation etc and it costs 4400$ here.😂😂
Seems like it's a great platform to build on.
The only thing I don’t like or understand is my 19 made 128 hp and had a higher top end then the new bikes have? The new one only makes like 112?
Kawasaki just made this bike accordingly to its prize point... For people that will be doin racing on these or wants a full track bike set up theyll just go with a different ECM/ECU, electeonic package, track focus brakes and suspensions...
I wish the ABS could be turned off, or at least adjust it...
@jokacz123 i agree, that's exactly why I didn't wait for the 24". That tft display is kind of nice though
@@matthewchevres4970that’s the only reason I’m buying the 24
Is possible to make it at least like previous model power figures if i make ecu flash and a slip on?
I wish they would have came out with all these upgrades in 2020
No auto blip is a real bummer
How did you shim it?
By the end of 2024 i am going to buy this bike with my own hard earned money
You forgot about the 40th anniversary colour
Same old stuff,R&D paid for years ago but double the price?
Good luck with that
I was expecting new ZX6R has autobleep.😂 What’s new? Only the Panel??
So u r saying this bike can't ride on street?
Damn there's a few haters here in the comments. I own 500 zx4rr zx6r (40th) and I don't need to race to enjoy myself. Im happy living my dreams. If they weren't so good then why can't you find them where i am? Sold out lol
I started riding 6 years ago. Imo 600 is the best class to ride.
Can i ride this bike after coming from duke 250?
Kawasaki Vulcan 600s inline 4.......that would be great!!!!!
Looks very nice
Can i ride this bike in city for daily purpose?
I bought first 600 ninja in 85 have owned 3 zx r 6's after that let me say this not one is a dud. kawasaki has not made a dud sport bike ever that I know of. if so enlighten me which year and model was not as good or better than the competition. Fact is all 4 of the big 4 have been neck and neck since 1980s
No throw back euro colors?
Cool bike!
Great review!
Honda really needs to import their latest 600 into the USA. 😑
It sure is purty
That cement wall doesn’t look very fun
If ur a race guy addict go with 1000s
But if u just want to go point a to point b and love the inline 4 sound n still be cool on a race bike look a like.its good enough
Some use it for stunt
Theres different market for 6rS
a dud, it is still basically the same bike as the zx6 from 2009, but then with bigger displacement and then with new fairing.
Nice bike😊
Honestly this will be my first zx6r don't know why throwing shit
Is new one have ride by wire system?
Nope
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Completely wrong info on the ‘24 it’s the exact same bike as the ‘19-‘23 just the dash and fairing design on the front are different. The engine is the same exact engine I’ve already researched this. Exhaust is exactly the same.
Makes the same power and torque even after flashing..
Every time you up shift you should say bismallah or barochat aleem
430 lbs wet for the non-abs model, 4 lbs heavier than 2023, and 3 lbs heavier than a bmw s1000rr with 40% more power. Similar weight increase in the cbr600rr. No wonder this class is dying. It's becoming less of a real supersport and more a super uncomfortable, heavy, supersport lookalike.
You really don’t need to shorten Traction Control 😒 just say the words
I really wish the MC industry would openly address these emissions regulations as a direct result of liberal policies, particularly in the EU. Its unnecessarily killing the sport and people need to start fighting back politically.
but can i get away from the fuzz
"Reshaped camshafts enhance mid-range power of the engine"
Interpretation: peak power is down, emissions standards are hampering high RPM small displacement engines, and Euro5 compliance forced us.
@@delusion2987 I'm aware. Honestly just didn't want to make a mile long comment. Haha

You clearly didn't want to review this bike. Why not let someone that actually likes it talk about it?
