I wish they had put the sequel also in redone 4K, great views of New York in that one.
Its been announced for next year.
They were working on that restoration but had to stop down because of Covid. You'll prob see it on 4K digital this time next year.

I’m in favor of The Criterion Collection Scream Factory/Shout Factory and Kino Lorber making a deal with Disney for the Fox catalogue
We can only hope Disney does that! I fear they will lock the physical media door on their catalog and throw away the key.

@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork I do not understand Criterion- their market is being saturated by the quality of those companies and then some. I'm also perplexed by Criterion collection devotees who must be buying their DVD-only offerings (what serious collector hasn't switched to Blu-ray at least, yet?).

Home Alone has & always will be my favorite Christmas movie. I just bought the 4K Blu-ray the other day at Best Buy on sale for $9.99 during Black Friday. I also have the DVD & the 4K looks a lot better as expected.

@@eddieworkman5855 It totally was for me, especially upgrading from the DVD. I paid the same price as what I paid for the DVD back in the day. I think it looks great on 4K for a 30+ year old film, I wasn't getting my hopes up too high, but better than I expected.
If you select the “multi-format” Blu Ray, you can choose editions and the 4K is there. It’s currently out-of-stock but is listed for $17.99.
in the uk, we got the 2010 blu-ray bundled in the 4kUHD package, mo new restoration on blu-ray disc.

Edward Scissorhands was on the agenda but no hdr exists if the film, all restorations we’re out on hold because of the pandemic. They were working on the 4k of Home Alone 2 early this year but we’re unable to finish it. Any other releases for 2020 would have been announced by now and there’s nothing on the calendar for the first quarter of 2021. It’s safe to say this is the last.

I'm not a big Home Alone fan, but love that you give credit where credit is due. Let's hope in a few years physical media becomes a priority again for Disney.
Thank God they are early adopters of 4K. It's just like PIXAR rerealeasing ALL of their movies in 4K, before being consumed by Disney +.

I just bought this. Haven't had time to watch it. Just finished watching the Dark knight trilogy on 4k and it was awesome.

Huge buyer of Physical Media here from Australia, I bought this as soon as it came out, but the Australian version differs to yours and the UKs. I think the 4K transfer looks like ass, it looks upscaled from the Bluray and there are NO FEATURES at all on it. Total Cash grab! No "30th Anniversary" on it, no "25th Anniversary" not even a mention of DVD features. I have bought this title every release since DVD was a thing, and this makes my blood boil that they screw US out of the features and quality yet release a premium version in the US. WTF. BTW You get NO Bluray disc in the Australian release only a 4K disc! 95% of my 4K's have a bluray disc with the 4K disc.
I am looking forward to picking up this release, but I'm not willing to spend $25 on it. I'll wait to get it at $15. Hopefully it will be on sale for the covid equivalent to Black Friday.
As for the other statement, that's not exactly true. Disney has said you will see Fox movies still get releases in the future, so you shouldn't be getting everyone freaked out over it as people love to jump the gun over such hyperboles. They're just going to be under the 20th Century Studios label, which is why the studio was originally named before Fox bought them back in the 30s.

In 2010; a nice boxset of both Macaulay Culkin movies was released on blu-ray. To be honest... That looks perfect. I don't see much of a need of 25, 30, 35, or whatever anniversary edition with "new transfer" and different sleeve covers they bring us. I see the screenshots---- and I see the colours way too saturated. Same happened with Titanic, same happened with Top Gun.

I really want to get Home Alone 1 and 2 on Blu-ray but none of the sellers on Ebay and Amazon ship to Fiji 😭😭😭. This sucks. I wish I had friends or relatives in America. I get my movies from JB Hi-Fi in Australia but unfortunately they only have the DVD edition and the 4K disc of Home Alone. No Bluray of 1 and 2.

@@rinalsingh1258 I did read your original comment. What I mean is, the 4K comes with a Blu-Ray included. So if you want these on Blu-Ray, you can buy the 4K copy.
@@adriannn3720 You still don't understand what I said earlier. The Australian 4K version only comes with the UHD disc. There's no Bluray unlike the American version. Amazon and Ebay sellers don't ship to Fiji so can't import it.
Is there a previous 4k release for this prior to the 30th anniversary? I know Jeff mentioned it in the video but I can't find it listed anywhere. I'm only asking because there are 2 versions available on Amazon Australia, one has just the 4k disc and is 1/3 the price of the anniversary edition. I'm hoping it's the same transfer as I'm only interested in the 4k film and none of the other extras from the anniversary edition

Ive had a 4k tv for many years now and have yet to experience any 4k dvd or evan streaming in 4k im getting home alone on 4k for Christmas on blu ray i only have ps5 as a 4k player as off right now i hear a 4k player would be mucth better and also a ps5 dosent support things like dolby vision what would happen btw if u buy a 4k blu ray that has say something the ps5 dosent support like Dolby vision would that mean when u play it it wouldn't play as 4k also is there anything i need to set on ps5 to get setup for 4k or would automatically be set and ready to go for 4k

Do you know if the new 4K is available on ITunes? I bought it years ago and in recent years it automatically updated to 4K but I also felt like it wasn’t quite up to scratch. Would love to know if they’ve updated it again.
The blu ray disc on the steelbook 4k has artwork. Is it the same 4k scan upgraded blu ray as the one that you received. I need to get the one with better blu ray disc. Which one has better scan the artwork blu ray or plain blue blu ray disc? Thanks.

So because Disney said no more back catalog stuff, we wont get the second one in 4k on disc. I never hated Disney more than I do in 2020.
I'd put money down that a year or two after The Simpsons airs it's final episode that 20thCF makes a physical media comeback with a complete series box set. It'll cost $500 but it'll be a reality some day.

Can someone elaborate on the "nice grain structure"? I have the Blu-Ray 2-pack of I and II, and watching HA I I find it extremely grainy. Thought it was the TV, then tried it on two different ones and it's the same. Is this 4K version any better? Is it just the way the original is?
@@pacmantravel2158 Thank you for the explanation. My blu-ray looks like sand in large, same-color areas (hence my use of the term "grainy"-which may not be accurate). If the 4K version is the same, I won't bother getting it.

This 4k is awesome, but the cover artwork is fucking terrible, I've customised mine closest to the original as I could and it looks so much better

Can’t justify buying this for the 5th time.., Especially when we don’t have a 2nd movie on disc. The last Blu Ray release will have to do. I would rather spend the money on other new titles.
The UHD absolutely demolishes the blu-rays out there.
The worst thing that could happen to the Fox Library was for it to be bought by Disney. Disney is now just a big corporate crapfest, and I refuse to spend money on their product because of their anti-consumer policies.
