I can't tell you how many times I've failed this mission because Lance would just stand in one spot while the FBI is shooting at us.

2) there is a car parked across the mall. Use that ( you don't need a police car)
3) there is a paint shop nearby, drive there in this car.

Ahhh the mission that turned Lance into a complete insufferable whiner.

For real, Lance is the worst
He's putting on a facade for the first half of the game, I think once he earns Tommy's trust, he lets his guard down and some of that mask peels away. We also see him dejected after he fails to take down Diaz, and from there he starts showing his true colors. In that first phone call after you defeat Diaz, where he accuses you of disrespecting him in front of the boys, he's clearly coked out and paranoid, the voice actor even sounds like he's sniffing as he's talking, which is a great touch, because it paints this picture of Lance as being impulsive, thrill seeking, and he would have lost his "rush" once he won over Tommy and once Diaz was dead.
Normally you can't read that much into it, but Rockstar really invests a lot of time into these stories and the characters, they're actually wanting us to read between the lines, and it's really brilliant the subtle ways that Lance changes, and how realistic it is to how someone might change in real life if they were turning their back on you.
they say “retry last checkpoint?” but what they actually mean is “restart the WHOLE mission?”
Yea, it sucks. After getting the cop uniforms I just drove to the beach front hotel to save the game and save some time for when I needed to restart. It helps a little.
When I was doing this mission. On my 30th try. While I was trying to get the cops attention, Lance started aiming at a random cop. He ended up shotgunning the car in front of him blowing up and killing himself. That’s when I said fuck it and just used a cheat.
I played through all of gta 5, gta 4 and the DLC, and gta 3 recently. This mission is what finally broke me. Fuck this mission

@@channel45853 I just punched the same cheat codes from the original version of the game you can find online. Iirc you just have to type the code in the exact sequence in your keyboard while in game. Granted this was on my pirated day one build of the game so it may be different now. I wouldn’t recommend it tho, I think it corrupted my save.

This mission is a reference to the film Copland (1997) which Ray Liotta (Tommy Vercetti) co starred in. In my opinion, CopLand is the most underrated movie of all time. Stallone and Ray’s performances were truly Oscar worthy. I wish Scorsese had directed that movie. It would’ve been one of his best ever.
There are too many glitches and bugs in this version of GTA Vice City. Granted, the game looks incredible on the PS5. But I feel Rockstar rushed releasing this trilogy. Take this mission for example. Lance doesn’t follow you out the mall and if you get out of a vehicle, he starts running the other way.

Yes me too. This mission made me rage it was so frustrating. Literally had to fail every way possible before finally beating it. And most times for stupid reasons usually involving lance.
The worst thing about this game is when you fail a mission it starts you at the very beginning of it
If anyones having troubles beating this, try going back inside your house with lance at the start of the mission and take the helicopter, makes the 5 star drive back home easy af

Use the chopper on the vercetti mansion, park in by the beach opposite the mall and when you leave after planting the bomb just sprint out making sure Lance is following. Then just fly back to the mansion. You don’t need to enter the mall area with a cop car.
Tip for anyone who keeps dying because the game just spawns you right next to the explosion EVERYTIME!!: Kill the soldiers on front of the shop, then you wont die if the game spawns you in front of the shop after the explosion

It’s funny how this is even an issue. It’s a glitch. The original game had no issues with leaving the shop.
Just run away from the coffee shop but don’t go near the door to leave the mall. This way you don’t die or Lance die from the explosion.
Run to the gash store after you set the timer and you'll be fine

*EASY WAY to beat this mission:* ⚠️
After getting the cop uniforms get a fast car BUT don't follow the map, use the parallel street to get to the mall. Thanks to this u'll still be recognized as a "cop" and u'll avoid all the shooting inside the mall. When u get to it, in the closest exit to where u plant the bomb, u'll sea a police bribe star so park ur car right next to it, facing the back alley. After planting the bomb, run away to the police bribe star then to ur car (wait for the stupid Lance to get in) and drive to the nearest Pay n Spray, which is really close. Wait for all the police stars to disappear and then u can easily drive back to the mansion.

The most frustrating mission.
This mission absolutely infuriated me. Every time I would get out my car would dissappear and Lance would get run over by a cop. By the time I got the car off of him and steal a car it would blow up. Finally, for whatever reason my cop car didn't dissappear and I was able to get a good distance away. I beat this God awful mission and I don't think I will ever play it again.
Addendum- Does anyone else think Lance Vance is on drugs? The way he talks to Tommy after this mission makes him sound like a fiend.

The draw distance is crazy . That’s the only thing I like about this “definitive edition “
The best thing to do after beating this mission (Cop Land), is to purchase (if you have not already done so) Sunshine Autos. Reason being, at Sunshine Autos down below the ramp, you can access six different races. Once you've purchased Sunshine Autos, each time you win the final race, you're awarded $40,000. Knowing this, just repeat the final race (race 6) over and over until you've earned enough money to purchase each and every property. This is the best and fastest way to complete Vice City 100%.

This mission is probably the hardest in the entire game tbh I lost my mind because of lances dumb ass ai
I also found the definitive version more irritated! Lance is dumb ass. cops are smarter and are like locust!
I cannot describe how many times I have restarted this mission because my car would just get absolutely bombarded by vehicles to the point that it would just explode, or that Lance would get glitched into the garage and I could have like six officers in there and it wouldn't continue on
Your driving with blown out tires is S tier dude. You also got lucky af you didn’t see hardly any cops once you got out of the mall area
In the cutscene, you can clearly see Mike say "let's go" and going to the action with Tommy and Lance but after that cutscene, Mike is nowhere to be found.

5:36 OH MY GOD I forgot about the cop bribe so that’s what happened if I don’t use it. I was so close to get to the mansion and suddenly……. The Police turn me and Lance into a hockey Puck.

Easiest way for me to do this was , instead of going In the main entrance of the mall , park your vehicle right outside of the side entrance before you go in, and then when your leaving the mall go back out the way you came in (exit doors right outside of the store you plant the bombs in) and once you get outside your car is sitting right their for you

Did anyone have major glitches with this mission particularly on ps5? Tommy and Lance kept teleporting back to the bomb which basically made a mission fail 3 times in a row for me

Lance made this mission so much harder than it had to be
this took me alot of tries but then i found the helicopter in the courtyard of the buildings west of the lockup after ya get the cop uniforms.....just flew the heli to mall went inside blew up store came back out flew away back to the mansion. completed my 1st time using the heli, also did notice the swat heli following me most of the way back but didnt do anything to me
The entrance to the mall wasn't like that in the OG version
Tip: go to AMMU NATION beforehand pick up body armor + full health, then plant the bomb, take the CLOSEST EXIT. Then, jump from the rails run to the star to decrease by one wanted level, get into the car next to it. Pick up lance quickly before he dies or gets glitched. Then drive to the CLOSEST pay n spray, be extremely careful and just drive slowly or park somewhere. Just don't do anything WHILE the 3 or 4 stars are flashing and you can drive back carefully to Vercetti Estate Voila!
The easiest way to beat this mission is use the bulletproof Admiral you get from the guardian angel mission you can bring it in instead of the cop car makes this Mission so much easier

You got insanely lucky with the initial escape with not having the fbi agents shoot at you. I went so far as to bring a helicopter and had 6 fbi agents instakill me trying to take off

Damn I don't remember this very difficult mission!! The amount of times I have failed the mission is not healthy at all
I wanted to shoot myself after doing this mission for almost an hour, whether I got busted trying to get cops to get into the garage or Vance deciding to sit in the entryway of the mall and not move at all. What I learned from it all is that as soon as you bomb the cafe you need to find a car or taxi (could be directly across the mall), and go straight to a pay n spray, from there it’s a million times easier, but fr this mission was insane at times
It's way easier to find a fast car BEFORE u even get to the mall and park it outside so it's waiting for u after u exit.
When you get to the mall park by the police bribe just south of it and go in the closest entrance.
When you come out rub around to it and get the police bribe then drive off with 4 stars instead of 5, and pick up any more bribes on your way to the mansion.
I remember doing this mission back on the PS2 and using the police helicopter as my escape vehicle.

Most infuriating mission ever. I rarely get the cops to follow me into the garage; they either stand outside or sit in their car. When I can actually get them to run into the lockup, the fucking door won't close for some reason (there is nothing blocking the door). Or I get past that, and Lance stays in the fucking Mall and I have to go back in for him and get killed.
Glad I saw this video though because it's a LOT easier to get the cops into the lockup if you drive a car into it. I was bailing and running into the lockup and, for some reason, it seems to be harder to get them to follow you in then.
Did they add additional models for the cops? Or was it like this in the OG version as well. Also, wtf is Lance just standing there? Even in the mobile version, he helped out.
In some cases where the lockup door wasn't closing, you'll see the two cops getting their heads blown off inside, and when Tommy and Lance wore the outfits, the dead bodies disappear
How do people think the helicopter mission is hard when this is in the game
I just past this misstiom what is a next misstiom after this becasuer i see lettter v on the gps map and only thing im running into is the purpel thing with the money logo and i past all the missions trying too figer out whats the next mission

In the OG Vice City, I don't remember Copland being too hard. In the 'Definitive' edition, this mission made me lose my damn mind, from the garage door glitching at one point and not being open when it was supposed to, to me being busted or some other nonsense trying to get the cops in the garage, then Lance was being killed somehow in the chaos of the chase.

My top tip is walk don't run! Lance can't handle the speed I found! He would constantly glitch off I ran, but was okay at walking speed!
The pay and spray tip that someone else mentioned is also a game changer!
Another glitch appears to have appeared on my version (PS5 latest patch). After the cutscene, when Tommy says "Let's get the cops attention" Automatic 5 star wanted level!! So straight from the Vercetti Estate you've got FBI & cops trying to smash you into the next world... Then if you get as far as entering the mall, it glitches you back outside, then you enter again. Then the soldiers guarding the shop with the bomb in start shooting at you & the other cops!! Even though you're wearing a cop uniform... Seriously broken game...

The amount of times I’ve had to re do this mission but when lance get out of the mall he gets stuck in the corner and won’t move so many bugs in this game it’s ridiculous

I just got GTA the trilogy (definitive edition) and, Jesus Christ, this mission and "publicity tour" are up there with the most insufferable, pain in the dick missions I have played through in all of my gaming experiences so far, right next to inner agent 3
Where do I start, how about, just let me do the goddamn mission alone. 90% of the time, Lance is the reason why I failed this mission. He's slow, he blocked my way multiple times, he sometimes doesn't leave the mall, he doesn't get in the car fast enough before the entire police station is at the driver side door, he shoots vehicles and blows them up killing himself in the process, and has the nerve to call me up afterwards to tell me I'm the asshole. Then getting the uniforms is a pain in the ass too. I punch an officer to get his attention, and Lance blows him away with his shotgun and brings more attention, which then causes police cars to block the loading door, so you have to risk getting busted by getting in the car and moving them, all the while getting shot at. And the drive back is relentless. Constantly getting banged by a van that shouldn't be faster but somehow is, getting hit from every cop car in vice city from every direction like a hit and run gangbang, catching fire and not escaping the vehicle in time, or escaping the vehicle that's about to explode, but Lance doesn't move his ass, so he gets killed, or if you, by some miracle, get into another car, it's either Lance doesn't move quick enough to get in the car before you're either busted, or he gets shot and dies. Then some of the cops are able to stick to your car to arrest you, even if you're going fast. They stick to the car and open the door to arrest you like the goddamn vice city spider man. And for a little insight, every mission restarts from the very beginning if you fail. I've never in my life gotten so angry in a video game to the point where I just sat there numb to the pain of seeing "Mission Failed! Wasted" over and over again, doing the same rinse wash repeat routine constantly getting killed (probably because of Lance) with no more emotion. No anger, no tears, just a migraine and lower than low expectations, doing the same routine over and over like a goddamn robot.

That about sums it up for me too. I just somehow completed this mission after replaying it and replaying it for an entire hour and now my throat is sore from all the raging I did. (and I've gotten better about not raging, but this shit had me really, really pissed off)
Idk if the original Vice City was like this, but it's really disappointing that the definitive edition is so bad or at least Vice City definitive (I haven't played the other two yet and here's hoping they won't be as bad 🤞🏻) and this is coming from someone who fully supports Rockstar games.

But holy shit, this mission broke me. I had just got done doing publicity tour which already brought my piss to a boil, as if I were cooking ramen out of my urethra, then Cop Land decides to kick me in the dick while I'm down.
Congratulations on completing that hellish mission, glad you were able to crawl out of that hell hole. I'm sure the original vice city was probably like this too, as trying to escape from a 5 stars wanted level is hard even off mission (but again, it'd be 10× easier without needing to babysit Lance) not to mention the ps2 probably had its own bugs that people let slide since it's such an old console.

Yes Lance we just got a 5-Star wanted level perfect time to scratch your ear. Ironically this is the time I won so whatever. Almost an hour of attempts btw.
Mission fixed on PS4 however luck is still a factor.
I use the side entrance near the store, and park a sea sparrow for escape.
After changing into cop uni you can rampage and rob stores outside the mall without getting wanted.
Security guards, gangs, and probably the army will fight if attacked but police will ignore attacks.
