I would also recommend trying this out too for the mission: Go inside the Vercetti estate and go to the roof, there will be a helicopter there. Just use the helicopter and go to the mall because you don't HAVE to use the police car, park it somewhere nearby and then after you plant the bomb you can go home smoothly without any cars ramming into you. (There will be a police helicopter but they don't do anything)
This is way easier with a helicopter be it the maverick on the mansion roof or sea sparrow . Been doing the mission like this since the original PS4 version . Back on PS2 I'd use a normal car for the mission .

Easier with a normal car and go to the small entrance to the left because the coffee shop is just to the right , plant the bomb go back out get in the car and go to the Pay & Spray , then back to the mansion .
EASY WAY to beat this mission: After getting the cop uniforms get a fast car BUT don't follow the map, use the parallel street to get to the mall. Thanks to this u'll still be recognized as a "cop" and u'll avoid all the shooting inside the mall. When u get to it, in the exit closest to where u plant the bomb, u'll sea a police bribe star so park ur car right next to it, facing the back alley. After planting the bomb, run away to the police bribe star then to ur car (wait for the stupid Lance to get in) and drive to the nearest Pay n Spray, which is really close. Wait for all the police stars to disappear and then u can easily drive back to the mansion.

Just finished this one. Lance got stuck in the mall. I went back in and out. Lance is still stuck. Leave him there. Knock a star off next to the mall and book it to the north west hideout. Down to 3 stars. Get the copter on the roof and head south east. Try to fly the copter through the underground mall to get the wanted level down but it doesn't fit. Now I'm on foot with 2 stars. Try to lose them in the alley. Down to one. Star is blinking but I'm suddenly cut off and I'm forced to retire a cop. No cars in sight and a cop with a baton on my heels so I run for the beach. Cop is not giving up, so he gets retired. Sneak back to the road, grab a motorcycle and hit the pay n spray. Go back to the mall pick up Lance and head back to the estate.
A lot easier if you use a helicopter . You can find a helicopter on the mansion roof or if you have 80 hidden packages there's a sea sparrow helicopter in the back garden next to the outdoor pool . Fly to the lock up land across the street , get the uniforms , get back in the helicopter fly to the Mall land on the grass next to the small left hand entrance , plant the bomb , back in the helicopter fly to the mansion . If you can't find any helicopters use the car from the start of the mission for the entire mission just go to the respray shop near Leaf Links .

I finally did it, my method was to hit all the bribe pickups I could on the way back (starting with the one outside the mall side entrance) - that meant that I at least had no FBI or stinger strips for my exit. Hit another in the alley next to the pay and spray, then the two near the pizza place. From there I actually lost my 1 wanted star naturally and had no police by the time I was at the bridge to starfish island. Which is a bloody good job because when I arrived at the mansion, stupid Lance decided to somehow glitch down to the pool under the mansion, so I had to spend 5 minutes coercing him back to the front door to complete the mission!
What do you call that feature, that fade in thing where items appear in the distance, but in this game it appears literally a few split seconds ahead of you and then you crash coz you literally didn't see it coming in time. Rockstar really has a few things to fix...
Played that mission just yesterday and can confirm it most definitely is NOT nerfed. I did beat it on the 2nd try, but holey hell, I had a 5 star wanted level towards the end and died mere seconds after I completed it. I thought I would have to do it all over again, but luckily it saved with my health at 008 lmao

Try It again. Use my strategy. If done correctly there will only be a few SUVs left around to stop you, but no fast FBI cars.

From the mansion you can either take the helicopter to complete it or the inferno and then goto the paint shop. Then it's super easy
